Currently im trying to nail down velvets sides, im leaning into her darkest self being at her patrons mercy and having that be a big thing where she is almost hypnotized Meanwhile at lower patron strings she is a greedy person, somewhat knowing whats going on and trying to retain some semblance of freedom and self without making it obvious to mr. Ascars Actually quite like this, we need to flesh it out a liiiitle more but i feel like that has potential I feel it could be interesting if selene stole velvets notebook, and came across an escape plan that seemed to be her trying to decide how to avoid... things most people2 points

Yup, people do not think these supernatural things exist. Furthermore, normal people are not aware that Potter's Neck is in a perpetual summer. Your characters may or may not know, the infernal could even have caused it by accident. So part of tension is created by you having to hide your ugly side from the public, both literal and figuratively.2 points

Work in progress! Unrealistic roleplay is what I'm after. This is not the same as silly, I just prefer unrealistic kinks that aren't possible in the real world. They read as physically androgynous in fem clothing to me (mostly because of the top). So if that's in the general area of what you're aiming for, then you got it. Also, those eyes say they're going to be mean to me, but it's ok, because they're just hurting and maybe I can help them through whatever is making them lash out, except 'oh no', it turns out I'm enabling their bad behavior by being understanding without holding them accountable, and now they're using that to manipulate me, and before I know it I'm outside a gas station at one AM with no money because they took my wallet after I specifically asked them to stop stealing my th2 points

Someone correct me if I'm off, but I don't see that. Are you in the Monsterhearts 2 book or the original? We've been using MH2 as the baseline, and that says you get XP from failing rolls (roll 6 or lower), accepting when someone pulls a String on your character, and some Skins may have Moves that give XP. Not sure if the MC wants to gives any clarity on how scenes will be marked. I'm not sure I'm seeing what the difference would be in play by post (inexperience on my end, I'm sure).1 point

So quick question, i was reading up on advancements and saw it mentioned that each skin has 2 "highlighted" advancements which both mark experience when used once a "scene" 1 How do scenes work in a play by post format? 2 none of the stats are highlighted as far as i can tell...1 point

I like this. Robin may have helped Velvet during one of these low-tide moments where Mr. Ascars had spent his Strings and Velvet was acting more independent. Perhaps he had recently asked her to do something particularly awful (Robin wouldn't know about that) and was beckoning her back to the house. If Mr. Ascars values subtlety, then Velvet might be able to lie that she couldn't go back without it looking suspicious—a lie that only tenuously works because when he comes out looking for her, Robin intervenes (thinking Ascars is a creep). To flesh it out more, it might have happened in Playland. Velvet could have been there stealing a bit1 point

I like this idea! We'll go with that then. I like the idea that Selene is in Charlotte's grade as well, gives another way to interconnect things. Robin gets a string on Selene for her kleptomatic ways. Sounds good! How much you want to detail about it is up to you, I don't mind fleshing out the details or keeping it mysterious and something to maybe figure out in the game (if you wanted more time to think about it), although since it does classify as a book I feel Selene will have tried to read it. Either way I'll put Velvet's notebook down as a token!1 point

No obligation, but how do you feel about Robin having a String on Velvet from helping her evade Mr. Ascars? For instance, Robin might have seen Velvet distressed and walking away from the unsettlingly charming older man, and by reflex she approached her, started talking with her, and walked her away. In Robin's mind, she was helping a girl get away from creep, but in reality she was buying a little time for Velvet away from her Dark patron—something at least a part of Velvet may be grateful for. If that doesn't speak to you, it's cool. There's also good tension in starting the game with a lot of Dark Force strings and close to Darkest Se1 point

It's also worth mentioning we could run a setting where everyone are literal monsters. So drama comes from people putting you into boxes depending on what kind of monster and you have to decide whether you choose to follow your nature or become something different. To add a bit in regards to the story elements of your character. There are suggestions for names, look, eyes, and origin, which fits the concept of an infernal. You can pick from those or write your own. The others have done a really good job at expanding on these sections, you're welcime to the same. Check out the small towns document, we're playing the summer folk setting, and it has a suggestion for an infernal character. All the main characters hang out at Playland. Think of where in Playland your character likes to hang out. As an infernal you got a special friend, a dark power. They need a name, and some details.1 point

Pick a set of stats, choose your second move and two Bargains. Your stat choices are: Hot -1 Cold -1 Volatile 2 Dark 1 or Hot 1 Cold -1 Volatile -1 Dark 2 Hot is exactly what it sounds like, Cold is your ability to be snide, crafty and calculating. Volatile is your ability to melt down, scream, throw things and hurt people. Dark is your ability to brood thoughtfully and draw inspiration from the Abyss. Those are minus signs, not dashes. Then figure out your name, what you look like and hand out three strings. Then pick someone you think thinks they can save you from the Dark Power, you get one string on them. It's best to1 point
