  1. On a completely unrelated note, how violent and gory can I be with NPCs @Harmony Frost? *smiles with a soft glowing halo above his head*
  2. Lol I discussed my two characters with Harmony and she gave me the green light for them! ^_^ One is a noble's son... And the other... well... I'm quite proud of him, he is going to be a general antagonist for all the players! XD
  3. Looking forward to hunting all of you... I mean writing with... I mean attacking... I mean fucking.. no I mean... Hi
  4. I really should dress this post up more, maybe it would get more attention. XD
  5. There is a lot to break down here. So first I want everyone to take a step back and breathe please. I dont appreciate being talked to like I'm an idiot or an insensitive prick but I also understand real life stress can bleed over into our hobbies. I work 15 hours a day, 6 days a week okay? This is where I go to unwind because my mind palace isn't safe for me anymore. XD For Kit, I'm gonna break down some things point by point... this isnt because I think you are dumb, or that I dont think you can handle running this club or worse that I am mansplaining... it helps me keep my own thoughts organized because I'm very guilty of losing focus. My previous post shows lots of evidence of that. @Kitsuyumia Im sorry if I made you feel that you needed a space engineering degree to run this club. Was not my intention. I will say that 16 billion people on one ship is not what I would call a close community, that however is a creative difference. If you say 16 billion people are on this craft. Then 16 billion people are on this craft. I have said repeatedly that I'm not trying to bully you or harm your creation. I am sorry if I made you feel that way, I really am because this IS supposed to be fun and you as the creator are the last person I want to see lose that fun. All I wanted was a sense of scale because I had no idea if this ship was the size of a town, or a city, but now I understand it is closer to a Planet Craft. That helps me a lot regarding lore and sense of place. Regarding Cryofreezing, while I could argue for hours about the viability of stasis, cryofreezing, hypersleep ect in sci-fi. I totally understand the trope. You saying no to it, just once again brings me back to the need for scale. Now that I understand the size and scope of the ship, I can happily not have anyone in stasis. Logistics for a ship of this size is a hellish nightmare that I would not wish to inflict on you... its much easier to discuss, predict, and even calculate how to feed a crew of several thousand, compared to 16 billion. With that in mind, I understand why you simply used gardens and farms. I get it, not asking you to change that. Next Population, again all that was required was a sense of scale. With 16 billion passengers, if there was a breeding program, whomever did the paperwork alone would no doubt kill themselves. Now that I have that sense of scale, I understand why such a program wouldnt be needed for a hundred years at least or some type of secondary crisis. But this is why I wanted help seeing your vision. Do I disagree with the logic of it creatively? Yes, I wont lie! I do! Is it my club/universe/fantasy? Absolutely not and therefore, despite my creative differences with it, you still and always did have my full support! All I wanted was to chime in about more ways players could interact while I still didnt have a sense of scale. In conclusion... I am honestly, and truly sorry if I have brought you more stress. My concerns are for every member of the club and that includes you the creator. You should never, ever feel like coming to your club is a chore and I know I'm in many ways responsible for that feeling. If you want, I will leave the club because I dont want you to associate my name with stress, anxiety or an unwillingness to read up on your club. I promise you, nothing about what I intended was ever malicious. My hope for you is that this can be fun for you still.
  6. Really I think what it boils down to @Kitsuyumia is we just need a sense of scale here. Were these ARKs able to house an entire planet worth of people? Even 10% of the population? Most science fiction depictions of earth show that with the help of mega cities and space faring technology... you could easily imagine the human race reaching 20 Billion or more... with possibly half of that being on Earth and the rest divided throughout the alliance. So if you build an ARK ship on Earth, could it fit 10 Billion Humans+ all the alien species of the alliance? This was why I suggested the cryofreezing for certain crew and colonists. Let's say, the ARK had enough supplies to feed 10k crew and colonists for 10 years. That is already an extremely insane amount of supplies that require storage and care. Let's take out the supplies and say we had replicator technology like in Star Trek. Okay cool, but energy was not limitless in star trek. In Voyager they discussed this because there were very few sources of dilithium so replicator usage was rationed. This is why the hydroponics bay was made aboard the ship as an alternative food source. But here's the bigger thing, Voyager was not a colony ship and didnt face nearly the same amount of problems the ARK does. So usually in an ARK like situation, there has to be plans.... was there a planet or galaxy that was the intended target? In Mass Effect their ARK ship flew to the Andromeda Galaxy... the flight took hundreds of years so all the colonists and crew went to cryo sleep for all of it. That's because logistically feeding, providing medical care, housing, and maintaining a healthy population for multiple species aboard a ship for long journeys is a nightmare! Pandorum a movie of the same idea, put 99% of the crew to sleep, while a small crew actually flew the ship in shifts. Every 2 years the crew would switch out and go back to sleep. So, as I said, I'm REALLY not trying to be an asshole, I want to be supportive and want your club to work because I can tell you did put thought into it! But when someone gives a suggestion, and your response is "I dont see the point" maybe its because we as a group dont see your vision yet... just help us see your vision and I promise you, we will help you make this club fun for everyone! That's the point right? To have fun! @Kissa and @DreamsnThings liked the idea that you shot down, even @Harmony Frost thought it sounded awesome! If you dont see the point, well that's still okay, but can you walk me through how the ship keeps a stable population? Because when it comes to ARK levels of crisis... there has to be a plan of maintaining the population. A balance if you will to keep from over populating and under populating. In the end, that was my idea for the breeding program... a system that provides balance. I hope this helps you see where I'm coming from, and PLEASE understand that I'm not trying to ruin your club or anything like that... just asking for a little help with seeing your vision.
  7. I mean other that what @DreamsnThings tweaked, not really. But I mean, if the ship has no population issues, a viable working economy, production and supply, limitless energy, enough housing for millions and millions and billions of potential colonists without cryosleep, working education system, a diverse ecosystem suitable to multiple species. Cities, wilderness, red light district, a proper hierarchy and chain of command with young officers trained to replace the elderly at a moments notice, weapons, defensive systems. Huh, I guess we have nothing to worry about. Wait... why are we looking for a new home? XP
  8. Sure, sorry if I was causing problems, it was only a suggestion.
  9. Not my club, and I know I'm over thinking it! If there isnt a need for a program like that, you are certainly the boss! ^_^ I hope you understand I just thought of it as a fun idea since most of the original human crew would have to be old by now. You dont become captain of an ARK to save countless lives at 15-18 XD Most naval captains are often in their late 30s when they reach that rank, so you would be looking at the senior officers being well into their seventies and eighties.
  10. So, I had an idea and it's not a requirement or anything. But I was thinking, since the ARK doesnt have frozen colonists, would there be a breeding program? In an attempt to continue the multiple species on the ship, maybe there is a test everyone has to take on the ship to be selected for breeding. Obviously participants dont have to get pregnant, the idea behind the program is to increase likelihood of pregnancy. This would mean strangers who are in the program are given a room, appointment time, and a scheduled time to attempt impregnation. I just see this as a fun and hilarious way for other characters to meet and awkwardly need to have sex. Obviously I wouldnt want this to be a requirement for the players, I just like awkward encounters where they barely know one another and there is an outside pressure to have sex. XD anyways... up to yall.
  11. "I uh, I never been actually... outside of work I mean." He took a few quick bites of his offered share of the lunch. It seemed the invitation alone had return some vitality to Travis now he seemed to eagerly want to refuel the tank so he could look forward to this evening. The kiss did catch him off guard though and there even seemed to be a small flush of color to his cheeks at the show of affection. There were clear signs that he wasn't used to it at all. Quickly he tried to speak to take the attention off his nervousness. "I'm really looking forward to it! Any change to this routine is a good one... especially a change invited by you." Well, the blush returned even stronger, Travis had gone from loner to frantically blushing within a few seconds.
  12. So weird, your comment did not show up in my notifications! I just stumbled onto it! XD
  13. He nodded with acknowledgement at her voicing the problems that a brilliantly attractive volunteer would run into in such a clinic. It was at her compliment to him that he began his process of dismissing but she had beaten him to the punch which left his face mildly slack. He didnt really like that he was that predictable, but he couldn't deny that she had him pegged correctly. "I'm alright, honestly." To be honest, there were thoughts he struggled with. As a child born on the ARK, it's easy to imagine exciting new worlds or seeing something other than walls and stars in the vacuum of empty space. As he grew up however there was a realization that they may very realistically never find a home in his lifetime. He was at times worried what that meant was life was just status quo and far less interesting than anything he could have hoped for. This was why he was caught even more off guard when she invited him to his club! It's not that he wasnt tempted to go to the Red Light section at times... especially when the loneliness got really bad! But he had never gone outside of a medical emergency! On hearing the opportunity to hear her sing he nearly blurted out instantly. "Absolutely! That sounds like fun!"
  14. The knock on the door startled Travis at first as he nervously looked to make sure everything was set properly. He wasnt striving for perfection mostly because he knew it would be futile! Under normal circumstances, a date would still be stressful! But a date with someone smarter, stronger and litterally superior to him in almost every way was somewhat terrifying. What if he was going to be graded and end up being put on some list of being inadequate for breeding!? No, NO! Stop... over thinking this will drive Travis insane and he did his absolute best to swallow his anxiety and open the door. He was greeting his guest with a warm welcoming smile though there was a brief second where there was no recognition! She was gorgeous, wearing a lovely dress and beautiful hair. For a split second he believed her to be some sort of prank from a neighbor sending a girl from the red light district to prevent him from cooking. Her only imperfections however, were her perfections. And that smile being a little too unnatural. On satisfactory recognition he stepped aside and allowed her in. "Good evening Phebe! Thank you for coming!"
  15. Yeah, just been a busy month at work. You can ask @Harmony Frost she is still waiting for replies from me on other things. It is my hope to be fully caught up by the end of today. I'm really sorry you've had to wait so long.
  16. "Oh Marigold!" It wasnt exactly a jump but he did find himself startled when she came up on him! Travis wasnt used to others sharing their break with him, much less offee part of their lunch! He smiled warmly to her before shaking his head politely. "That's very kind of you, but I'm okay!" There was a loud growl from the pit of his stomach as if his whole body rejected his attempt at politeness! Simultaneously color had left his face that was twisting in pain caused by hunger pangs. "...Maybe just a little." He recanted his rejection of her offer before moving over on the bench to give her some room to sit. He did have some water and had been drinking to keep hydrated throughout a very trying day. "How has your day been? Things are never dull with the patients whenever you're around!" Travis smiled at her and mentally checked his clock to make sure he had enough time left of his break to enjoy some food and pleasant conversation for once! It wasnt that Travis was disliked, not really anyway... it was more of the fact that at times he could be a bit of a klutz and his social anxiety forced him to be quiet around anything more than one person, but Marigold had a talent of making him feel comfortable to open up faster than others.
  17. Alright... I don't normally do this type of RP but... as a writer you have to sometimes step out of your comfort zone to grow. At times I can be a little too vanilla and while I do enjoy those encounters the most, maybe it's time I dip my toes into something a little darker! I hope you find yourself interested and wanting to play too! You made a terrible error in judgment! Did you commit a crime? Did you take a lover in secret to defy an arranged marriage? Did you fail your duties and obligations to the crown? Or are you innocent of the crimes you have been accused of? Perhaps it doesn't matter, neither does your guilt or innocence because you have already been sentenced! You are to be casted down into the Oubliette! A dark pit from whence no one has ever returned. The stories surrounding this dark place are often used to frighten children into obedience and scare young maidens into chastity. While the king may rule above, beneath his kingdom is a realm of violence and brutality. Rumors of monsters hungry for human flesh will devour anyone who is dropped into the pit! Those more familiar with this dark place know the real horror of the place... but there is hope, on the far side of the labyrinthian tunnels and darkness there is believed to be a safe haven where others who survived the horrors have built a peaceful society away from the king's corruption and foul desires of the beasts! So my dear, your path is set, but your future unknown... can you survive... the Oubliette? -------- So yes this will be about your character traversing a dungeon while being hunted and assaulted by monsters of all kinds! We can discuss what sort of monsters you want and how big they will be! You will also have a companion, Terra, a slime creature with healing properties that can keep your body going even after numerous assaults! We can hammer out the details together but if this sounds like something you're interested in, would love to work with you!
  18. I know the struggle all too well! Really cool btw, quick question, she still 'looks' like Phebe, just altered her textures and appearance to seem closer to human? I'm asking because perspective is always hard so was she still trying to be recognizable?
  19. You are absolutely, perfectly fine! I started the topic, I hope it's okay!
  20. @DreamsnThings Phebe didn't need to eat. Travis gave himself a mental kick for the stupidity of asking her out to a dinner date. Even going as far as mocking himself as his stripped for a quick shower, "Hey Phebe, why don't we go to bed together, you can lay there and watch me sleep for eight to nine hours because you don't have anything better to do right? Fucking moron." After a quick shower and getting dressed in more casual wear now that his shift was over, the young human had walked into the section of his dormitory that he had converted into a small kitchenette. Not many of the passengers and crew cooked in their dorms so getting portable stove, sink, and a proper disposal unit had honestly made some of his neighbors nervous. Travis at times could be a klutz and there was a genuine concern and possibly even a formal complaint that he could set fire to their housing section! Travis had to argue that for centuries mankind had been cooking and serving meals for family and friends out of the comfort of their own home! Even the art of a homecooked meal was the cornerstone of human mating rituals at one time or another! Thankfully his reasoning was practical enough to allow some leeway, and despite his natural tendency to be clumsy, there was an odd grace whenever he found himself behind the stove. Today was also a smaller meal that he found himself inspired by some of the more prominent species of the crew! Sautéed shrimp in a light garlic butter sauce on a bed of Auran seaweed and some Leuruca vegetables. Though these planets were thirty years behind them the gardens and hydroponics bay grew a selection of plants from the home worlds. The shrimp however was a bit on the pricier side of things as these had to be grown and raised in the aquariums. The meal, though light, had been the product of research in Travis' personal time! He wondered if this may have been a popular meal in the alliance between human, auran, and florasian cultures! Or maybe he was just overthinking it and becoming a little too proud of himself for cooking some protein and preparing some greens and veggies. Was he nervous? He believed himself to be nervous though Phebe had given him no real reason to be such. "Alright, just breathe." He told himself as he went to the nearby terminal. Sending a message to Phebe that he was ready! She doesn't eat... not really anyway! Should he prepare two plates? Is that presumptuous or is he overthinking the whole thing? In the end he settled on making two plates and two glasses of white wine which alone had cost him quite a bit of wage. It's not like there were a lot of competing vineyards on the ship. Even the light settings had sent him into a tizzy of overthinking, should he set a lower more intimate light? Would THAT be presumptuous!? His anxiety was way too high but in the end he settled on a lower light setting to dim the the living area where he had prepared the table for two. He did however drink some of the wine as an attempt to calm his nerves, he just knew he was being stupid about this!
  21. Yes, just has been a rough couple of days. Been pretty tired whenever I haven't been on my feet.
  22. Lol I know, but dont worry even though I like the idea of Travis being kind of a klutz, I'm not trying to make him look like an idiot either... it's a fine line, I'm trying to find it. XD
  23. I just imagined Travis setting up a table by like an air lock in the hallway thinking to himself "You know, I thought this was going to be dumb at first but the view is real nice!"
  24. I'm tired.. Dirty... and not in a fun way. And really thirsty... also not in the fun way. XD
