*It was then that Alvina revealed the most likely reason she was so distraught and acting so wildly, she was just inexperienced and worried that she left a bad impression. Evelyn doubted her words were going to do much to save the situation but she felt she couldn't just do nothing and let things be. In truth, Evelyn had looked into a few of the applications and thus applicants for the position David now had. Yes, she had also read David's application and from the impression she got from it, the guy wasn't the type to think badly of a person who caught him in a compromising position. It be much more likely that he find some way to blame themselves for the matter. She also doubted that he would care or even think that much about whether Alvina was a pervert or not. Given what she read, he would probably come up with some roundabout way to make himself look bad.* "Alvina, to be honest, I think he'd be thinking along the same lines as you, roles reversed of course." Evelyn said to Alvina. "From what I've read about him, he's a lot like you in some ways so I wouldn't be so hung up on what happened."- 470 replies

*If Cassandra were in the mood, she would have laughed at Dezrin's comment but alas she couldn't even manage a smirk. She watched as Dezrin rummaged through his pack and pile the clothes neatly on her lap. She noticed that the clothes were strangely suited to any gender, which was different to how clothes would be back home. Not that she minded what she was given at this point but it just seemed to add more credence to this man's story like all the other strange phenomenon that she experienced on this island, including the obvious ones. When he said he was going to turn around to give her some privacy, Cassandra was going to ask him why he would bother with such a thing given that she had been naked all this time. But she figured it was just a way to make her feel more comfortable around him, even though Cassandra figured such a trifling thing wouldn't matter. As the man turned around, she decided to put the clothes on as there was really no point not doing so. If the clothes were somehow cursed with some nasty effect, it would hardly matter to Cassandra. It would have to be one hell of a curse to cancel out or override the curses she was already under. She could sense nothing abnormal about the clothes she had been given, it just seemed to be regular clothes. Slowly and carefully, she got up and started to put on the clothes she had been given. She had little idea of the material they were made from but they seemed to be of the light yet hardy variety. The fact that they were also comfortable made her wonder if this material was foreign to her world as well in some regards. Perhaps it was made from material whose existence and presence had been lost in her world. Whatever the case was, at least she had clothing to wear. Now, Dezrin had mentioned that the cloak was one that regulated body temperature. She was still a bit skeptical of that but given everything else he had said had lined up, she had little reason to doubt. She was very sure that the cloak was more than a simple cloak, while she could not sense any magic in it, there had to be something else to it. Probably some sort of technology, which was not available on her world. After she had put on the clothing, including the cloak, she could feel her body temperature becoming more stable.* "...You can turn around now...Dezrin." Cassandra replied in a uncertain tone. "I hope you don't regret the decision to lend me clothes."

*Evelyn raised one of her eyebrows in surprise at Alvina's reaction to seeing a man naked, a reaction she thought a bit extreme. Then again, what would she know? She hung around a literal nymphomaniac so seeing people naked on a regular basis was an ordinary occurrence for her. Still, seeing Alvina like this over something so small and insignificant bothered her. Sure, the girl was naive and overly protected but that wasn't exactly a reason not to at least try to calm her down a bit.* "Why are you calling yourself an idiot over something like that?" Evelyn asked, wondering if Alvina could be calmed down by focusing on something else. "It's not like you intentionally went in there to have an 'inspection'. You could not have avoided seeing something like that, from the sounds of it. This is not something to dwell on in such a way. There's no point calling yourself an idiot over this." *Evelyn moved a bit closer to Alvina to see if she was going to be alright. She honestly hoped this girl wasn't going to dwell on this 'failure' all day. Meanwhile, in the actual laundry room, David was huddled in his little hiding place behind the dryer trying not to make a scene. Well, he already made one by accident already. He didn't exactly want a repeat performance so he was sitting on the floor...which was a bit cold to be honest. Anyway, he was just glad that Alvina was no longer in the room as she really didn't seem to like what she saw. Couldn't exactly blame her, he thought to himself, there wasn't exactly much to look at.*- 470 replies

*At first, Cassandra did not seem to respond to Dezrin in any way. In fact, it seemed as if Cassandra was not responding at all. Was she comatose or something? If he looked closer into her eyes, it was possible he would notice that she lacked any sort of 'spark' in her eyes. He would be able to tell she was indeed still breathing but perhaps that was about it. He would not be able to easily tell if she registered anything he had said unless he read her mind, which perhaps wouldn't exactly be the best idea as she wasn't in the best state for that. Though if he knew her or at least remembered what she was like at this point in time, Dezrin could make the argument that she did register what he was saying but was choosing to remain silent as there was little for her to do but agree. Would Dezrin be curious as to why she was acting this way? The likely answer was that he already knew why she was acting like this as he stated earlier he was from 'her future' and probably didn't need to be reminded. For Cassandra at this time, it really didn't matter in any sense of the word what she thought or did. She was no 'god' and yet mortals would deny that she was one of them. On this island, wherever it was, even death was denied to her and that was the only 'freedom' she had left. She might as well just be an object or part of the environment, something to be used and exploited...perhaps not even that. Her existence no longer had 'real' relevance.* *When Dezrin asked her if she would like something to wear, Cassandra gave him a strange look...as if he had just said something nonsensical.* "Seeing that you have said the clothes don't fit you, I suppose there's nothing for it." Cassandra replied in a non-committal manner. Perhaps Dezrin would recognise in her non-committal answer some genuine confusion. Why would this man bother asking her, as if she matttered?

*Cassandra's face showed no emotion as Dezrin told her things that she would most likely have no understanding of...if she were normal. Unfortunately for her, she was far from normal and thus had only a partial understanding of what he was saying. Not so much about where he came from, because she had no idea where any of those places were, but some of the things he was talking about sounded familiar. Now, in her universe, she 'knew' that time travel was either impossible or unable to be proven due to Axiom System's Data Consistency checks which functioned as a way of eliminating attempts to go back in time to 'fix errors'. From what she knew of its operation, the Axiom System actively stops attempts to rewrite history by time travel so going back in time was impossible. Of course, it was possible for one to turn the Data Consistency Checks off but that would need Administrative or System rights to the Axiom System and Cassandra herself knew that only Utopia (before her rebellion) and her had that sort of access. However, even thinking about such things at the moment, in her mortal mind made her feel physically ill. In fact, even she couldn't hide it from Dezrin as she looked rather ill. That was just a consequence of accessing parts of her rather unusual memory that were never meant to be accessed by a mortal. Even if it was her, mortals were never meant to be able to recollect past lives. Now, back to the topic at hand, Cassandra still had a rather hard time believing Dezrin but it wasn't because of anything he said or did. It was because up to that point, everything she had known and assumed to be true was turned on its head and destroyed (sometimes quite literally in the case of her family and hometown which was completely destroyed).* "Defies all logic? Maybe you should go complain to management as to how your logic is failing and see what they say." Cassandra replied rather sarcastically. At least in Cassandra's opinion, the gap between what's considered logical and rational and what actually was the case was so wide and vast that the only way to attempt to bridge it was to fill the void with as much bullshit as one could. Sure, one would probably never get to the truth that way but to expect people to want to know that was dangerously naive. Hell, mortals literally killed her over and over again just for existing and creating them in the first place. Perhaps they never wanted to know in the first place. But that mattered as much as her anger did...and that didn't matter at all. "I'm sorry. I should not have said that. I have no idea what your universe works or anything."

After Alez spoke up and said her piece, the immediate result was a brief moment of silence. Then...it came. "Your world? Little one, I have no interest or idea of where you are from. I also do not know why you would think I would have any interest in attacking your world, wherever that is. All I am here for is for the head of that person next to you. She has betrayed her god, her world and all those she fought alongside. And for what? Cassandra, you know as well as I do that our god is everything and our lives are their property. To oppose that is to go against the dispensation of the universe itself. What foolishness has caused you to turn?" "I may be a heretic and damned in the sight of god but I will not back down and let Utopia run roughshod over the ideals that we as mortals hold dear! The virtues and Godly Properties we as creations of the divine are blessed with!" "...Is that all? You waste your existence on such sweet nothings?! I am almost lost for words. Almost. You had my name and existence thrown into the mud JUST for that?! You betrayed all your fellow heroes and compatriots throughout history, whose names and existence are now less than nothing just so you can play Savior?! Does your arrogance...no...of course not. You never understood anything or do you understand anything. All you had to do was look pretty for the masses and be their symbol as we mortals killed each other for god!" *Cassandra looked rather stunned and taken aback from the latest outburst from Mei Yi, perhaps even hurt. She could not make any sense out of what Mei Yi was saying, even though the language they spoke was the same. The fact was though that Mei Yi was correct at that moment. Cassandra had never had to face the reality of her position and all that it entailed. She had never realised that all she really represented was that power was the maker and breaker of everything, that it was the sole thing that matter. All her talk of 'values' were just paltry cover for all the things she and others would have to do to get people to believe it. Such things would not cover the countless bodies and the stench of death that hung around them. If they ever thought about all the people they killed to make their 'dreams' come true, if such dreams were indeed theirs, would their dreams be as worthy as they had always assumed? All she really had to do was, as Mei Yi put it, 'look pretty for the masses and act as their symbol'. She never had to face the real consequences of war and conflict as she was always on the 'winning side'. That was her primary role in Utopia's world, to act as a idol and lead actress in his play where the ending was already written. "Was your love for me even real? Did it even mean anything to you? Did you ever think, even for a second, how your actions would affect me and the others that worked alongside you? Can you even fathom what I'm saying?" Mei Yi asked Cassandra rhetorically, her voice becoming more emotional. "I loved you, you know. More than anything. I was willing to do anything for you, kill anyone as long as I could be with you! I gave up on a normal life just so I could follow and be with you! And still...that is not enough for you?!" *Cassandra did not reply...she could not say anything. No words Cassandra could utter would heal the wounds in Mei Yi's heart. Mei Yi felt betrayed by Cassandra, whom she had devoted her life to when she was still alive. For Mei Yi, Cassandra's betrayal of 'god' was more than just a conflict of interests and ideals. For her, it meant a rejection of her love...and a dawning realization that her love could never be enough.* " You want to leave, young one? Then come to the village, Cassandra should know it well. That's where I wasted my life, chasing after the affection of that woman beside you." -

*Alas, if only Alez knew how similar their cases were...which was something Cassandra could not allow herself to reveal to anyone. Though to be honest, not even she knew the complete truth. What this Cassandra knew was that she was the 'Eternal Hero' selected by Utopia to kill the Source of All Evil, who was the actual being whom created the world. She had learnt that this situation had come about due to a certain occurrence in 'mortal time' where Utopia was finally able to re-actualise in the world. As it turned out, before the 'world' began, there was a conflict between Utopia and its progeny. Though she was still unclear to why the conflict began, she knew how it ended. Utopia was defeated by its own progeny, led by its other half. The Other Half, whether because it could not or chose not to, did not destroy Utopia but instead imprisoned it in a pocket dimension inaccessible from virtually anywhere. As it was being sealed away, Utopia revealed that without it, its progeny would die from starvation and fade into nothing as they were all reliant on it to survive. To thwart Utopia, its Other Half, using what resources it had, engineered a tentative solution. Using the knowledge derived from the Existential Codex that Utopia had sealed in its Library, its Other Half used the Axiom System (A reality altering device of great power) to rewrite the rules of reality and how Utopia's progeny worked. However, to fuel this effort, Utopia's Other Half sacrificed itself to create the world. In honour of its great sacrifice, the surviving progeny posthumously gave them the title of 'One With Hope, That which Springs Eternal From Nothing.' From that point, the mortal universe started and Utopia's Progeny came to rule the mortal world using some of the features of the Axiom System which they learnt from what of the Existential Codex they could read.* *Back in the world they were in, Cassandra felt the emotions and in some ways found herself being able to understand some of what Alez was going through. It was not exactly comfortable for Cassandra to go through, having being trained to be rather stoic as per her station. Though...like Alez, she too wanted love and affection. Seemingly unlike Alez' case though (so Cassandra hoped), the love that Cassandra got in return from Utopia was both a blessing AND a curse. A blessing in that she felt that she could do anything...and yet a curse in that no other love would make her feel like that. Cassandra hated that, feeling that she was just used by Utopia like a puppet and yet...she had a feeling that she were offered that love again, she might not be able to resist. After all, Mei Yi was proof of that. Revived and then made to fight against the one she loved most...wouldn't normally be easy but for Utopia, perhaps it was. Making them do its will could be a breeze if they knew what to offer.* "The world lacks many things...but I refuse to believe that this is all there is to it." Cassandra replied to Alez, feeling the girl embrace her. Having someone look up to you and trust you felt nice, even if this wasn't exactly the greatest of times. "Oh? Perhaps you need some more education, my dear Cassie. I would be happy to show you the Truth you so seek? Or is that no longer important to you since you've got a new...fling?" Mei Yi interjected, interrupting Cassandra with a voice surprisingly lined with acid. "...And 'they' say love saves all. Such mindless prattle never saved anyone! "Mei Yi...I hope you will not regret those words. As they may be your last." Cassandra replied strongly, which even surprised her to be honest. Perhaps Alez's display had given Cassandra some surprise resolve. Perhaps she would need whatever resolve she could get for what was about to occur. They were not far from the village where Mei Yi was waiting for them. -
Aura is a very friendly individual that quite a few members seem to get along with. Though I take WAY too long to respond due to personal circumstances, Aura doesn't seem to mind too much or appear angry at least. I hope they find my replies decent. Their replies are quite good and though some of the story lines I have seen them do is not some I would do myself, they are well written and quite interesting. I haven't had too much issues with Aura and I hope they haven't had too many issues with me.

*As it turned out, Evelyn was indeed still in the corridor. While she didn't hear what happened inside the laundry room, she could see that Alvina was obviously flustered about SOMETHING. Though Evelyn had no idea what it could be. As Alvina was composing herself from her 'experience', Evelyn stood there silently wondering what could be the matter. It wasn't like there could be any insects or bugs in the laundry room, Evelyn knew the place was spotless and clean. Also, there wasn't many places for them to enter into the laundry room from. So, what could Alvina possibly be startled over? Evelyn was going to have to ask her when...she calmed her down, of course. As Alvina finished her counting and opened her eyes, Evelyn asked her about what happened.* "Welcome back." Evelyn said in a friendly manner. "What happened in there? You seem quite flustered..."- 470 replies

*When Dezrin reached out towards Cassandra to scoop up some of the leftover liquid from the ration that leaked out of her mouth, Cassandra instinctively flinched as his fingers made contact. Her face suddenly reddened a bit from a mysteriously developing blush that was developing on her cheeks. Cassandra had no idea why she was feeling so...awkward around this man and why she was reacting like this. What on earth was going on? Was she so hungry and tired that her brain wasn't working? That was entirely possible and was the explanation she chose to go with. Still...what on earth was this person thinking, touching her like that?! It was WAY too forward and familiar! Something was definitely up though Cassandra could not imagine what. As she tried to regain her composure from that, though trying a bit too hard to act nonchalant about it, she listened to Dezrin explain the odd colour of the ration she was given. Well, whatever was in the ration, it wasn't obviously fatal. She could tell that as she wasn't having any weird aftereffects from it. She knew all about being poisoned..though not seemingly through personal experience. She had dreams that ended as such, dreams that felt so real that...no, there was no way. After listening to Dezrin's explanation of the ration's colour, which was due to a food colouring agent being added to it, Cassandra looked at the second cube that he had left in her hand. While she was still hungry, there were still questions she needed answers to. Still, she was going to have to eat SOMETHING either way so she put the cube in her mouth and bit, this time successfully not spilling any.* *When Dezrin turned the subject towards clothing, Cassandra had to ask something that was bothering her.* "How would you know if those clothes fit me or not, if we haven't met before? Who are you and what do you know?" Cassandra asked, trying to cover herself up as best she could though rather unsuccessfully.

*Cassandra could see that this whole situation was bothering Alez a lot, given that the girl had indeed lost 'her wings' and what Alez called her 'ethereal form'. Of course, to Cassandra herself, she looked 'normal' despite the wings and the aura. Given that 'normal' is at best a relative term in Cassandra's experience, it should not come as a suprise. Cassandra could see the girl physically shrink down and look like a lost child. This was a pitiful sight to see and Cassandra did wonder who in their right mind would allow for someone so inexperienced to take the field? Unless this was an unauthorized excursion out of their comfort zone or that Alez' superiors did not give a rats' ass if those they sent out did not come back, Cassandra was not happy about this. Not that she blamed Alez for this situation, it was not the girl's fault she wound up here. Cassandra looked at Alez as she seemed to be losing the confidence she had before and tried to approach her. Cassandra wasn't sure what she herself could do but she couldn't just let this girl just shrivel up and die like that, not when this one's life was just beginning. Cassandra felt an unfamiliar feeling of nervousness as she tried to show some sort of intimacy and gentleness to Alez, something she hardly shown anyone. Her left arm trembled sightly as she raised it to try and calm Alez down by rubbing her shoulder. The movement was awkward as anything, though given the link between Alez and Cassandra had been established, Alez would be able to sense a warmth in her actions that hopefully would do more than cancel out the awkwardness.* "Alez...look at me." Cassandra asked Alez in an attempt to get Alez to focus on something else. When their eyes met, Cassandra has to force herself to make eye contact. Alez would hopefully be able to feel something of the struggle that was going on in Cassandra's mind at the moment. For her, looking at Alez was like looking into an old picture of herself and all that meant. Hopefully, Alez would be able to grasp the complex feelings of Cassandra...that she wanted to help and protect Alez and yet at the same time attempting not to blind her from what she knew to be the world as it is. "Alez, I'm a bit tough on you, aren't I? You said nothing wrong or disagreeable to me nor was anything wrong with what you said. I, too, wish for truth and justice and to do what's right. I'm sorry, I'm not making sense, am I? This is hard for me, I was not made to be an idol or someone to look up to..." *Cassandra was trying her best to express what she was feeling but it wasn't exactly coming out the way she had planned it. Perhaps if Alez concentrated and focused on Cassandra, perhaps the link between their hearts would strengthen more and she would get a better idea of what was going through her head.* -
I found Lachett to be a very flexible and patient RPer! The impression I got from RPing with her as that her manner seems quite laid back and tends to be rather easy to deal with. While her advertised preference didn't seem to match my rather vanilla preferences, I found that she was willing to adjust and I had a lot of fun with the RP we did have. While unfortunately I could not exactly keep up regular posting due to having a rather unexpected increase in personal commitments this week, I hope to RP with them again if/when I get the chance to. They seem a rather pleasant individual and I wish them luck in their future RP seeking endeavors.

Unfortunately, that does seem to be a problem with LCD screens on DACs, pixel burn in. I haven't yet had that problem with the DX7Pro yet. Then again, I lowered the screen brightness. Anyway, if I actually gift you one, I would even if just to see if there's been an advancement in the Sabre chips. Now, I do understand that DAC chips aren't all that matter. The analogue stages, the headphone amplification stage and the power supply does have a collective effect on the end result. You can have the best DAC chip in the world and still have it sound and perform like crap if you don't do the work. Anyway, HE500 is a great deal in Headphones IF you can:1 1. Find one in good condition 2. Power it with a decent amp 3. Withstand the weight. I have no issues with the 500+ grams of weight of the HE500. Then again, I don't have much issue with the 750g weight of the Audeze LCD4 so what do I know? -

*Unfortunately for Alez, she was entering a fight in which she had no personal stake and no knowledge of what was. While there was no way for her to know, attempting to argue with Mei Yi would prove fruitless. To Mei Yi, this young upstart was just a fool like she was once. To Cassandra, Alez wasn't exactly helping her. Not that it mattered at this point. The only possible resolutions that Cassie could see at this point was this: either Alez and her would die or Mei Yi would die again. All this talk of morality, truth and justice was just a veneer to cover the ugliness of what was about to happen. The only thing that would move either of them was the sound of clashing steel. Cassandra just sighed.* A god serving? What kind of self-indulgent rubbish is this?! God is still god, whether or not they deign to help us or not. It is we, mortals that owe our existence to gods, that serve them. It is our innate duty to serve them, as they have created us and give us countless blessings! It is not for us to judge gods, as we are not fit to do so. We shall serve for that is why we are here! God is not bound by anything nor are they below anyone! You speak of 'truth' and 'justice' as if they could exist without god, that they are somehow above them. What nonsense! What kind of deity would deign to debase themselves to be bound to the imperfect squiggles of idiots and fools that we are?! *Cassandra shook her head sadly, wondering for a second what fate had fallen on Mei Yi to make her like this. She was never like this. But in her heart of hearts, she could guess the answer. Utopia must have had their way with them, in one way or another. A mortal mind, even one like Mei Yi's could not and would not stay intact or the same once in contact with god. The very moment that Mei Yi was contacted by Utopia would have been the end of her as Cassandra knew her. Her mind and spirit would not have survived the contact.* "Alez, that's enough. There's no use talking to her." Cassandra said to Alez in a quiet yet firm manner. "We're not here to engage in theological debate." That is correct. You are here to be judged, Cassandra. By me. You didn't just betray me though. You betrayed all the comrades you've ever had and all the people you knew and that have supported you over all your lives. And what do you have to show for it? Nothing. 'Justice', 'Right and Wrong', "Morality'. Mere words of mortal make with no power or existence in this world! You sold everyone you knew out...you sold ME out...for things that don't even exist?! -
*Cassandra couldn't do much to stop Dezrin from picking her up, not even complain. Though she wasn't exactly enthused about the idea of being picked up like a toy, she knew she had little option since she could hardly walk. This just made her more frustrated at herself for being so weak. Then again, the question could be asked whether or not she'd be happy even if she could move by herself. She figured that the answer to that question would be no. Thus, even asking that was pointless. Now, she noticed that she was being held rather close to this man, perhaps even intimately so. Was this man this possessive over his new 'conquest' or was there perhaps something else to this? Cassandra could not answer that question though she assumed that this man would have his way with her soon enough. Whether it came now or later didn't matter to her. It took them a while for both of them to reach the cave, no thanks to the storm that was raging over the island. Still, despite that, this man made good time reaching here which made Cassandra wonder how strong this person was? They looked quite feminine in her mind and yet was deceptively strong. She had little idea what nature of species they were but she thought that she would need to be careful. After all, she was vulnerable. She saw parts of her remains amongst some of the leaf litter on the floor. It didn't really bother her at this point, after all she was pretty much someone else's food at any time in time. Whichever way she was eaten, death would certainly follow. Cassandra couldn't be bothered telling Dezrin about the fact that she died here. Perhaps it would be better if he didn't know. Goodness knows what would happen if he knew...and many scenarios went through Cassandra's mind...none of them good. When Dezrin put her down on the ground, she watched as he cleaned up the cave a bit. Now, Cassandra couldn't exactly tell what kind of powers he was using..mostly because she was so hungry but did it really matter that much? If this person wanted to, they could do anything to her and there was not much Cassie could do. All Cassandra could do pretty much was watch and observe. As she watched the man put his bag of belongings down, she saw that he was trying to be as nonthreatening as possible. Why she would ask them if they were out of their mind for making themselves so vulnerable to attack, Cassandra knew she could not do anything anyway. So perhaps there would be no reason to be 'defensive' around her...seeing as she couldn't really be a threat. She continued to quietly observe Dezrin, trying to figure out what their game was. When they took out a small container of purple cubes, Cassandra wondered what kind of stuff that was. She couldn't name many things that were naturally purple at the moment. She saw Dezrin eat one of the purple cubes, before he instructed her to eat it.* "Why is it purple?" Cassandra asked Dezrin. "To tell you the truth, it doesn't look that appetising..but I suppose it's some sort of ration, right?" *Cassandra gently took one of the cubes that Dezrin offered her before trying to examine the purple cube. After a while, she went and put one in her mouth, which resulted in the cube exploding in her mouth. While she wasn't expecting that at all, she did manage to get most of the liquid down...though a little managed to escape and leak down her chin.*

*Now Cassandra could not believe a word they were saying. Who on earth would help her and want nothing from her? Actually, who would help her at all? Was this person whom called themselves Dezrin of right mind? Perhaps it really didn't matter of their were of right mind or not, they were doing something completely out of the ordinary to help her...even if it wasn't really helping. To Cassandra, the only way to help her out was to find a way to permanently kill her. That would certainly end her suffering. She doubted that this individual would do it even if they had the means, which she figured they didn't, so that was moot. Still, if she were to get answers to her questions, it appeared she would have to cooperate with this person for now. She had no means to extract any answers out of this man if he didn't want to answer and she really had no point being here. She knew the storm wouldn't kill her, even if she were struck by lightning. Now when the man mentioned that they needed to find a place to hide, Cassandra remembered that she had found a 'cave' a relatively convenient distance away. Well, that was a while back...a few lives ago. If memory served, she bled out in that cold cave after from wounds. She figured her body would still be there. She did not know if this cave would be occupied at this time, given the weather but that was a risk she was willing to take. After all, even if she had no 'life' to live, this other person did and he held answers for her. Well, at least he said he did. Even if he didn't and killed her or something, she'd know to avoid him the next time around.* " I see." Cassandra replied rather coolly. "Well, I believe that there is a small cave a few kilometres away from here. It's nothing much but it'll need to do."

*Cassandra was still having a hard time believing that there was NOT some ulterior motive to this person getting her alive. Why else would anyone help her or want to keep her alive unless they got something out of it? She really could not see any reason this person would want to, unless they or someone else offered them something to do this. After all, the Church had marked her for death for heresy and being an overall inconvenience to them (being alive). Even if she were on another planet in her universe, she knew she couldn't expect mercy. Though many of her powers were no longer functional or being used for other purposes, she still had a few that gave her enough information about her universe to understand where she was safe. Her knowledge about her universe told her, of course, that she was not safe anywhere in her universe. It didn't matter where she went and what civilisation she ran into, she was persona non grata for one reason or another. While this level of universal undesirability would be hard, even amongst civilisations that were space-faring and shared intel on criminals and such, Cassandra was one where she was not wanted anywhere. She could not hide in her universe, no matter where she went and no matter whom she met. Part of the reason for this was that the Church of Utopia...was one of many 'versions' of the same religion that operated amongst those left in her universe. While specific details and the names and terms may differ, depending on the civilisation that it 'came' to be used by, the result was the same. If any being found her, then her eventual death was guaranteed...along with anyone that had the misfortune of associating with her. Which made this person's intervention even more mindbogglingly bizarre. Was this person a 'heretic' or wanting eternal damnation?* *Perhaps she should ask this person...though the chance of them lying about their reasons was pretty much certain...at least in her mind. Then again, Cassandra was literally in a state where she could not trust anyone including herself. Given what had happened to her and she could not be certain she remembered everything in detail or be sure of its accuracy, her ability to trust was serious compromised. When Dezrin gave her his best 'boyish and engaging grin', Cassandra was left wondering if he was trying to hit on her or something. She tried to decipher his expression but could come up with nothing. Well, to be honest, she couldn't come up with anything positive certainly. Given that she had some water and her mind was working somehow...Cassandra decided to ask this person the obvious question.* "...What do you want? Who sent you? What are they paying you?" Cassandra asked Dezrin coldly. It would be obvious to Dezrin that his charm was not working on her at the moment. She didn't ask him his name as he gave her it...though whether or not she believed that was his 'real' name didn't matter in her mind. As long as they responded consistently to it, that's what mattered.

*It was at that point that both Cassandra and Alez would hear a voice, seemingly carried by the wind. It was a beautiful feminine voice, yet one dripping with venom and hidden anger.* "Oh? And you would know the difference between the two, little one?" the voice was heard saying sarcastically. "Freshly removed from her mother's breast, this babe speaks of things it remains innocent of!" *It was at that point that Cassandra interjected unexpectedly. She seemingly rushed forward more than a few steps, in the direction of where the voice was coming from.* "Mei Yi, is that you?!" Cassandra implored emotionally, her voice cracking and her emotions getting the better of her. "Mei Yi, it is Cassandra...I...". "And what of it?" the voice replied in a rather emotionless fashion, as if Cassandra were the last person it wanted to see. "Do you expect me to rush over to you with open arms after what you've done?!" *Cassandra looked rather taken aback at this reply of this "Mei Yi", as if she were not expecting it at all. Apparently, even now, the past with this person was not yet buried for Cassandra. The passion she had for her was still strong. And yet...she was shot down without a second thought.* "Heretic, you thrown everything you had with me into the abyss when you left the side of god." the voice of Mei Yi continued on, the anger in its tone was obvious. "Every last bit of it! Tell me now, "Hero'. Was I not enough for you?! Was I just some harlot you obtained on the way?! To be cast aside when you got your fill of me?!" *Cassandra looked rather emotionally hurt as Mei Yi tore into her with what they said. She knew that there was going to be trouble when she effectively rejected god.* "Mei Yi! Our love was true, it still is! But you must know that Utopia..." Cassandra shouted emphatically at the voice...before being interrupted. "And I ask again, what of it?" Mei Yi replied. "Utopia is our god and their will is what must be. So you say that they 'break' things that should not be broken. What of those things? Such things are not of god but of mortal make! Such imperfect things cannot, should not and will not bind a god! For they are above and beyond such things!" -
*By this time, Cassandra has realised that her body was indeed 'warm' and that was no real reason for it to be this way, given the weather and what had happened previously. Well, no real reason other than this person whom called out her name. Now, Cassandra still had no idea why this person was wanting her 'warm'. She couldn't think of any possible reason why this person would want her this way, any positive connotation to actions was still seemingly inconceivable at this point. But that was seemingly the only 'reason' that made any sense...that this person had no ill will. Which, of course, confused the hell out of Cassandra who knew of no one that would bear her any good will. Well unless this person had no idea that they just marked themselves for death, which was strictly within the realm of possibility. There still were places that the Church had not gotten to on her world. Not that it would change much, of course. Even if the Church could not get her, it didn't mean she was safe. Far from it, it just made things worse as she could not predict where danger lay as it would not be obvious. After all, she knew that, in her universe, nowhere was safe for her.* *Before she could dwell on this mysterious individual more, she felt a strange 'tickling' sensation go over her body. She immediately let out a weak cry of surprise, followed by a bout of coughing. Yes, she was not in a good way. She wondered what the person just did and what the purpose of it was. There was literally no way for him to 'feel her up' all over that quickly...unless...but then she noticed she could no longer feel dirt on her body. Was...this person trying to get her clean? Why? Why go to the trouble? This really started to bother her. It was then that she was turned over onto her back. Her mind instantly reacted and tried to get her arms to cover herself instinctively...though her body refused to cooperate. She was a bit too weak for even that...though it hardly mattered. Even if she could cover herself with her arms, she figured that she would have a rather hard time fighting this person off. If they really wanted to, they could 'take' her as many times as they saw fit and there would be little she could do about it. She would have continued thinking like this if it wasn't for the fact that this person held Cassandra close to their chest, an intimate motion if any. This really confused Cassandra as, in her mind, he was putting himself at risk by holding her like this. After all, if she were armed, she could have stabbed him fatally by now. Of course, there was no way that could happen as she was not armed. In fact, this whole situation was very confusing for her. Why would anyone do this for her or for anyone else for that matter? It was then that she noticed that this person was offering her an 'apple' sized ball of water. Now, she could tell the water had no obvious impurities in it and could sense there was no magic in it other than what she could see. This person was literally offering her water...though given her tone of voice, it felt this person was telling her to drink.* *While Cassandra felt like she should refuse the request, she knew that she had little option. She could refuse the water and be left to die...or forced to drink the water...or many other possible events could happen which mostly resulted in her dying and reincarnating again. It appeared that she was going to have to drink this water. So she moved to drink the 'orb' of water that this person was offering to her. As she drank it, her parched throat reacted to the influx of fluid almost immediately. She started to cough violently as her throat was unused to fluid. It was just lucky for the person holding her that she didn't throw up or something.*

*As the AI fired its weapon at Ruby, it prepared itself to move to behind a nearby set of crates a few metres to the left of its current position. It knew that, while the crates themselves could serve as cover for a little while, all environmental objects spawned on this Game Field were destructible with enough firepower. It also knew that destroying environmental objects could cause Field Items to spawn, which could turn the tide of battle. Now, the AI was going to tell Ruby this as soon as it could as it felt it would be unfair not to give her such vital information. Though the AI knew that, in the battles to come, Ruby and whoever else got these Game Images would not always be able to rely on 'rules' and 'fairness' to get by. If anything, the AI should have thought it necessary to give this person the 'hard lessons of life'. Though, the 'AI' knew things that could not reveal yet as its instructions were clear. Though it did feel like this was a rather indirect way of helping, it knew enough to know that this was going to be the only way they could help them. While the AI thought it distasteful and unnecessary to involve 'civilians' like these which something so important, it knew that the decision was not its hands. All it could do now was give those under its care at the moment the best advice and education it could, given the constraints.* Enough time thinking, time to act. *As soon as the AI noticed that Ruby had gotten behind cover, the AI made its move towards the crates to its left. The AI knew that it had a huge advantage in this fight, given its level of experience in combat. Even though its level was set at the lowest level, it knew enough about how this environment worked and about its own abilities to give even higher level opponents a hard time. As it moved towards its destination, it could hear her fire her own weapons at it. Now, the AI knew that it could make it to the crates safely my using one of its abilities, but it decided against its use. Why? So it could teach Ruby about Field Items, which included Health Pickups. It knew she had gotten hit by one of its bullets so it figured...heck, let her hit me a bit and show her how to use Field Items at the same time! Now, as the AI dove gracefully behind the crates, it felt a projectile graze its right leg. It hurt a bit but the main thing was...it wasn't fatal and not enough to prevent lots of movement.* "One hit each, huh?" the AI shouted from behind cover. "Not bad for a newbie. Anyway, I should mention that all cover in this Game Field is destructible with enough firepower. Should also mention that, like in any game, destroying cover while useful in itself at times...has another benefit here. Each time you destroy a piece of environmental cover, there's a chance that a Field Item/Pickup will spawn."

*As Cassandra listened to Alez, she couldn't help but notice how naive the girl sounded. It almost made her frustrated because despite all the information that Cassandra had given her about her circumstances, Alez seemed to still maintain the 'goodness' of the deity that ran her world and was the one that put Cassandra in this exact circumstance. Then again, Cassandra couldn't exactly blame Alez for it. It was an apparently normal assumption that goodness and creator gods went hand in hand, though nothing really bound the two concepts together. In Cassandra's circumstance, the god that ran her world and had her working as the Eternal Hero was a creator god...but one that was not that interested in mortals other than what it could get out of them. While working for them as the Eternal Hero, slaying the Source of all Evil over and over throughout the ages, Cassandra herself began to realise that the god she worked so hard for...didn't really need anyone and was just using them for its own ends. For all the talk of the Divine Plan by its agents, the awful truth was that mortals were not really required by it and the value of their lives was never certain...only being valuable when the god wanted them for whatever purposes it had. When that purpose faded, so did their use and thus their value to god, which meant they were no longer needed. Of course, given that Cassandra herself had abandoned her place as the 'Hero', she too was no longer needed and now had no value. Looking back at all the things she did, she wondered why it took her so long to realise this truth that she saw clearly now. Why had it taken her so long to realise that all beings in her universe...were only living because they were serving as 'entertainment' for their god and the moment they failed to entertain...they were dispatched? Cassandra suspected that she knew this for quite some time...and yet she still served her 'god' unquestioningly. Perhaps it was her inability to handle that truth that drove her to deny it and blind herself to it for so long.* "Alez...I'm sorry but I don't think you quite understand." Cassandra said calmly and as politely as possible to Alez. She did feel a bit horrible for what she was about to say next but she felt she had to say it. "The god I served under in my universe...frankly does not give one iota of a thought to the lives of the many mortals it feels it owns, even my own. To it, the only purpose we serve, including myself, is to praise and do what it wants for the duration of our existences. While mortals and even myself until recently assumed that its will must be good as it created us and the world...it's not the case. Goodness has nothing to do with its will, which we will obey or be condemned to death. Now, the being whom created this Domain was once, like myself, a servant of god who I fought alongside with to defeat a recurring evil...though now I'm not sure what purpose we actually served. Now, given my betrayal...of the Divine Plan and my place...I suspect that the being whom created this Domain has been assigned to kill me, dragged out from time and peaceful death..."
