Magic and Powers //WIP//

Recommended Posts

Between Vampires and Werewolves, there exists a variety of powers that a Human could never achieve to unlock. Magic, a natural form of energy manipulation, has been eradicated as well as those who used it a long, long time and any records of it destroyed. Unique gifts and abilities like enhanced strength and speed, incredible durability and stamina, also hidden away during the Crusades  and their resurface during the Salem Witch Trials tarnished. However that is not to say that these gifts were lost, as secretly they have been well and alive amk gst certain groups. Here, we'll explore the unique powers amongst the Vampires and Werewolves of Spruce Moore.

Mana, in its raw, true nature is an aspect of life, called chi and energy or other forms of power in literature and religion. It is the life force that all living creatures including people contain Mana. However the knowledge and practices of it have either been dumbed down or greatly suppressed, so people who can use it, can't as it is almost non-existant. But Vampires and those alike are capable of such things, and they can channel this power into defenses and attacks animated on command. Werewolves, on the other hand, cannot cast a "spell" or things alike, instead the mana inside of them is infused via transformation, even outside of their Wolf forms, their bodies and libido is enhanced making them more than Human.

Vampirism and the Magic that can Be

Following the curse, or gift, of becoming among the undead is of course the stopping of aging and the heart. Vampires capable of magic have some form of heartbeat, though it's low and very slow, it is a sure sign that Magic is trying to revive them... Not painfully so. Each individual have a singular "element" they pertain to regarding magic, let it be Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Ice, Lightning, and Dark. Others who have no element can use the magic as they please, such as powerful illusions or energy barriers. However the undead cannot wield light, as light is pure and can harm Vampires almost instantly.

Vampiric abilities:

Transformation, which while turning into a bat is the most common,  some may turn into another small avian or even an insect, if not a swarm.

They can utilize magic as said above.

They cannot age and have a regeneration power they can heal from anything except for sunlight (if too injured by it), silver (allergic reactions followed by combustion if touched, insured death if cut too deep by it, limbs lost by silver automatically cauterizes the wound and the vampire can't grow anything back), and magic is weak to iron either blocking it or dulling its power.

Vampires can charm and naturally create split second illusions, they have supernatural strength and speed however are easily outmatched by Werewolves.

In order to properly feed and keep from gpimg frenzy, Vampires must digest blood of any kind, from animals to people. Werewolf blood is extremely toxic, but has uses in alchemy.

Many Expert, Master or Arch Vampires can easily use telepathy, they can use psychic powers for a limited time like psychokenesis and such. However they are limited to magic, as they both are opposite in terms of power and usage. A Vampire who constantly uses psychic powers are very limited on uses of magic, and vice versa.

Vampires can have a Thrall, a Human slave or servant, as that individual is tied to their master they too cannot age however they don't have usage of extreme powers. Instead, they can use trace bits of magic given their bonds to their master.

Werewolves and Human Augmentation

As there are Vampires, so is the parallel to Werewolves. These Beast Folk are born either as wolf pups or Human children, either born with the gift or they must achieve it. Werewolf Packs are powerful and numerous compared to the Vampiric Covens, which in their own right are powerful but more reserved and are based on quality over quantity. In the end, where a vampire falls and one takes its place, a Wolf will fall and ten takes its place. Naturally Werewolves are between the aspects of Natural and Supernatural,  unlike the undead, they belong to the Earth they live.

Werewolves have abilities too, which include:

Transformation, depending on the breed and type of Wolf, the transformation can vary. Natural Wolves can turn with no issue, however are sometimes forced based on instincts and emotion. Lycan Wolves are more vicious, their transformation is painful and happens based more on the full moon, or when they need to turn at any time. Many Werewolves have different "breeds" too, some looking like the various types of the regular animal wolves throughoutthe world, some look like Coyotes ir Dingos or Jackals. However it's never been recorded of a dog breed (Husky, Heeler, Shepherds, etc.).

Augmented/Supernatural Physique, due to the Werwolfs changed biology and the power that flows through them, most Werewolves have superhuman-like strength, speed, durability,  and so forth. This also includes enhanced smell and hearing.

//Type of Magic, Wielders, and Abilities//

Part I

As we know, there are a variety of Magic, Spells, incantations, and so forth that exist. With that said it is important to know the basic types of magic via the natural elements and how they affect each other. The original elemental properties were used only until sub-properties and divergent powers were discovered or created, ironically,  the only one's who could use magic were Humans as they were more in-tune with nature many, many years ago. It wasn't until the Roman Empire enforced their religions and laws, combined with the Vampiric Covens of old, that most of the remaining magic wielders were eliminated from existence.

But with Vampires now having the magic of old, perverted or kept pure, have only the basic understanding of how it works and the advanced lessons beyond, purely by invention of course. Since the near death of magic years ago very few possess it from families that have homed it via generations passed down, to old sects and organizations who have kept it secret, and to the Covens who have stolen it abd made it their own, but only double digits of individuals have its true potential and natural forms. With that, the magics pertain to natural elements energies of the Earth, each one stronger and weaker against another naturally.

Earth, Wind, Ice, Lightning, Water, and Fire, in that order are stronger than one another. Much like nature's game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, Earth effects Wind, Wind to Ice, Ice to Lightning, Lightning to Water, and Water to Fire. Over the course of many centuries, those who have kept the elements pure have discovered a secondary form of magic within the original even finding hybrid forms as well.

From Earth comes Stone, Clay, Flora, Fauna, Wood and Crystal.

From Wind comes Sand and Storm.

From Ice comes Snow and Hail.

From Lightning comes Glass and Sound.

From Water comes Mud, Steam/Fog, Mist, and Blood.

From Fire comes Ash, Smoke, and Lava

While some forms may have more variants than others it is crucial to have expertise in the original magic. However, many have learned these sub-variants only, as sometimes they are born with a strong bloodline that they should not need to learn the old powers. It is noted that the maximum amount of magics one can learn, both primary and secondary, are only three in which case two must be connected in some way whilst the other can be completely disconnected by a reason. However certain forms of magic have been developed beyond that of the elements consisting of both Light and Dark, which are polar opposites.

Dark effect Light cia a form of cirruption as much as Light effects Dark via purification, both are affected by the natural powers as well.

Dark can defeat the powers of Earth and Water and all its variants, while it can be defeated by Lightning and Fire.

Just as Light can defeat Dark, Water, and other forms of corrupted magic and curses, it can be defeated by Earth and all its variants.

--------

Magic cannot be cast without a form of release. There are a variety of techniques in casting magic and what these techniques mean, an individual can only know two, a primary technique they can easily utilize/specialize, and a secondarythey chose to learn but as a fallback- The secondary can be useful, however their primary forme is what they embrace. There are those that handle different aspects of activation and usage, (1) using Chanting and Phrases is amongst the oldest and more or less easiest, it allows for incantations and spells to be used however can be interrupted. (2) Using a catalyst such as a wand, staff, or any item like that including weapons or jewelry is an old art that is useful, it is combined with either Mental/Vocal Commands to help trigger the release of the spell itself.

(3) A Stance is otherwise a more recent art since the 7th century, it requires a specific stance and channeling of magic through a weapon or shield, then releasing it via vocal/mental command, being introduced between the Spaniards and Japanese. It is not only fast paced but extremely effective, however is limited on its wielder, weapon, and range. (4) Hand Signs are an ancient art used primarily in the Asian provinces, while complex, it allows for specific effects and powers to be used surrounding all elements/forms of magic. Very few in the world use this technique,  however if done correctly,  the effects are neigh unstoppable,  and the casting can go at rapid speeds pending on the skill of its wielder. (5) Much like a catalyst,  Grimoires, Tomes, and Scrolls are extremely effective given they are steeped in magic, the user must be familiar with all passages and have the magic attuned to their being. The user can use simple and short phrases for long-worded passages for better and swift castings.

Additional magics include Conjuring, Blood (Diluted/Pure), Summoning, Spellcraft, Hexing/Cursing, Miracles, Enchanting, and Pyromancy.  Below we will go over these different forms of magic and what they do, including an extension of Blood magic. Continued on Part II.
