Is there a limit to how long after a post is made that you can edit it? I can’t edit some of my posts now and the way my partner and I do our writing is we post it first and edit it as we go because our posts take so long to write since they’re generally pretty big and detailed. It could just be because I’m on mobile but now I’m worried?

Update: I can’t edit ANY posts. I’m on mobile on safari, but had no issues yesterday doing so. Tried logging out and back in, not fixed. Cleared history and cache and everything on safari, not fixed. Not sure what to do?

This is a temporary issue. I was initially under the impression that Dreamers couldn’t edit their posts or topics in the way you’ve described. However, after reviewing your post history, it looks like there may be an exception in clubs or another issue that needs to be investigated.

Regardless, it’s not possible to introduce granular controls for this. You should always be able to edit your preferences and roleplayer bulletins, but I don’t believe forum posts and topics should be edited too freely, as that defeats the purpose of having a forum. While I could introduce a time limit, it wouldn’t be specific to certain areas and would apply globally.

Yes, I’m blaming IPS limitations again.

Related to this, as mentioned here: https://ecchidreams.com/dreamer/2935-warning/?status=46513&type=status

Editing posts has been temporarily disabled due to a bug that allows circumvention of penalties. This is being worked on, and in the meantime, all Dreamers—including Gold and Platinum members—have been set to the same permissions as normal Dreamers as a precaution.

I don’t plan to introduce a time limit for post edits during this mitigation period, as it would undermine the purpose of the restriction in the first place.

Oh wow! What a prompt response! I love that for this site as a newer user. We migrated over from another RP site that was run TERRIBLY, so it’s nice to see a mod team that cares! Thank you for the information. Does that mean that the issue is every, mobile and non-mobile access alike?

Thank you for the positive feedback! I do want to assure you that the site should behave the same on desktop as it does on mobile. While there may be some differences in the tools available in the editor between the two versions, that's mainly because if we included all the buttons on the mobile version, there wouldn’t be much room left to type. Aside from that, the functionality should be identical. If you notice anything different, please let me know.

I’m working on the issue as quickly as possible, and I’ve brought in some outside help to speed things up. However, I don’t have an ETA just yet.

I never got around to saying so, but I wanted to confirm that the old settings have been restored and everything you could edit is now editable again. I couldn't fix the underlying issue because its a problem in the core, that IPS needs to address and at this point I've given up trying to have a professional conversation with them.

Everyone should be able to edit their own:

  • Posts
  • Topics
  • Albums
  • Images
  • EcchiTexts
  • Preferences
  • Bulletin Posts

If anyone has any issues with this, please let me know and I will look into it.

I want to add that if anyone was looking to be able to edit their statuses: This hasn't been a thing since 2018, for good reason, and it's not going to ever be a thing here on EcchiDreams.
