Just starting this forum cause I've found a significant appreciation for older operating systems and felt like sharing it. Namely this somewhat a rant but with some of the changes introduced in windows 11, unwanted ones mainly, such as Mandatory Bitlocker Encryption (Which has been prone to fail in the past commonly.), Recall + Copilot, and the constant race to accelerate their AI programs, it creates a great yearning for the past really. Looking back on older systems shows a clear divide in where Microsoft's interests were back then than they were now. Don't get me wrong, Microsoft still wasn't morally sound back then either, as looking at the DR-DOS incident with W…

I can't think of anything more random than bringing up AI in an ERP site so I figured it would fit. With the ridiculous speed which AI has advanced in just the last few months since ChatGPT, Midjourney, AI Vtuber Neuro, etc. What sort of things do you all think will come to pass? Good or bad I would like to hear it. With AI, we are seeing it integrated with difficult or complex software such as Unreal Engine and Unity, with these engines no longer being limited to just video games but also film the ease of use for these previously complex tools will allow many people who were previously unmotivated to have an much easier way in to expressing the id…

The start of the day… It was a typical Friday morning on March 17th, 2023, and just like any other day, @Neptune and I started our day at our computers. My routine usually began with a sprint to catch up on emails and sift through the "Stuff that happened whilst you were asleep" pile of work that always seemed to accumulate overnight - a fun perk of being business owners, as we liked to sarcastically joke. As @Neptune brewed us a cup of coffee, we dove into our work, but our grumbling stomachs soon interrupted us. It was time to fuel up. Our stomachs were growling fiercely, so we headed straight to the kitchen, hoping to satiate our hunger pangs. We were both cra…

Livin’ with Linux I wasn’t quite sure how or even if I should document this; but eh. In the end, I figured 'why not'? There could be other Dreamers here who might use Linux as their daily OS, or Dreamers who are thinking about using Linux but aren’t sure about making the plunge and I will welcome all responses and questions and encourage those that use Linux to take part as well. Hey I might need a little help on the way as well. What I don’t want to see is this topic devolving into petty tribalistic squabbles, elitism or gate-keeping. I would like this topic to be friendly, not just towards myself but to everyone who posts here. In this post I will cover:…

Coding Help

So, I'm working on this code in C++. The input prompt is supposed to only accept 1, 2, and 3 as valid responses, while any number less than or equal to 0 or greater than or equal to 4 causes the program to send an invalid answer message before sending the player back to the selection prompt. However, I've recently discovered that if an alphabetical or special character is entered, it will break the program. I've been trying to figure out how to fix that, but I haven't had any success. Here's the code I've been writing: Spoiler #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { int choice; char cont…

Hello everyone. I am still fairly new and inexperienced to video editing and in case there are others here who do the same thing, I wanted to make this topic to talk about your experiences, ideas, former and current projects et cetera. Basically, I am eager to improve as a video editor and make varied content, try new techniques and possibly get recommended better software for newbies like myself. So my first question would be this? Do any of you know any free software that makes it easy to try out different techniques, effects and so on? I have had trouble finding out how to do stuff like overall two videos with each other and how to incorporate …

I don't know much about computers, but the internet has always helped me out. However, if i have a problem with my computer i can rely on my seller to help me fix it. He can take over my computer from a distance and solve the problem (unless it's something that can't be fixed that way). So, a friend of mine told me my microphone of my headset sounded really quiet and i didn't even know it until now. I looked through the settings and noticed the mic was indeed very quiet, which was sad because i've had this problem before and i thought it was fixed but it wasn't. After searching through the internet i realized i couldn't find an answer. There i was.. Totall…

So I've had a rather interesting week which has caused horrible slowdown on my end and delays in fixing a few things. My computer had not one, but two hard drive failures, and both from my WD Black Drives! ?If you haven't experienced such a failure; then it's a very tense few hours - or days depending on how big/complex the arrays are; mine wasn't that complex but on the of the drives that failed was my newly acquired WD Black 4TB Hard Drive. If you aren't aware of how nerve wrecking it is; check out this video by Linus Tech Tips (A fantastic and well informed channel by the way) which shows the failure of their Whonnock Server and gives an insight into the stress o…

Folding@Home Event EcchiDreams is once again working with Folding@Home to help combat diseases, this time we're fighting against COVID-19, by donating our idle computer and graphic card clock cycles to a worthy cause! What is Folding@Home? Folding@home is a network of volunteer computers distributed around the world that aims to perform biomedical research with the single intent of helping to further understand and develop cures for a range of diseases such as; Alzheimer's, cancer, and Parkinson's. When you were younger; did you collect Pokémon Cards? Chances are if you were born in the late 80s/early 90s you probably did, I know I certainly did and I was pretty efficient at doing so, owning at least 6,000 or 7,000 Pokémon Cards by the time it went out of style, but I handled many, many more despite the fact that I only ever purchased 2 booster packs at the very beginning. I am going to start this topic by sharing some of my memories of Pokémon Cards and I really hope that you also share your memories too; please leave a comment and tell me what your fondest or darkest memories of the whole thing was for you. There’s a lot of stories associated with these …

Hey there! I was wondering if anyone here is into D&D or any other tabletop rpgs? If so let's talk about some of the crazy shit that has happened in our campaigns! Here is an example of mine: My character is a male Tiefling Sorcerer name Damakos. My DM presented an NPC that offered each of us to pull a random card out of his Deck of Many Things. The rest of my party was too scared to try(if you know what it is then you probably understand) but I am big on role playing my characters withing their respective alignments. Damakos is a Chaotic-Neutral character that isn't afraid of shit, so he reached out and grabbed a card from the deck! My DM laughed and told…

What happens if you cross a netbook with a Desktop PC? Well, meet this cute little fellow. This little computer has a width of 25CM (9.84 inches), a length of 20.5CM (8.07 inches) and a height of 6CM (2.36 inches) making it one of the smallest desktop computers I have ever owned. It is so small in fact that it almost doesn’t even look too out of place on my bookcase, and is smaller than my A4 folders, and the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual too, as you can see here: So for this one; I was just browsing around on eBay (As I do from time to time) and I noticed this for £10.00; plus free shipping. At the time on the 4th …

What do you call a computer strapped to the back of a monitor? Apparently it’s a AiO computer… 😕 I found this strange little thing on bid for £4.99, and there really wasn’t all that was said about it. No specs, no model number, nothing. Just “It turns on” but “It has a password” therefore it was being sold for spares and repairs. A BIOS password is extremely easy to bypass; usually it’s just a matter of moving a jumper and turning the computer on, or just taking out the CMOS button cell battery (Usually a CR2032). I figured at £4.99 (Plus £9.99 shipping) there really wasn’t much to lose, and took the plunge, putting in a bid for it. My max bid was…

Have you ever seen a server before? Well if not; you’re about to get a really good look at one. I was just browsing around on eBay when this caught my eye… A HP ProLiant DL380 G5 Server; £21.00 with just 3 hours left until the end of the bidding. My first thought was laughter; “Alright? What’s wrong with it?” I asked myself. So I looked into the listings where it said what the specs were plus it had a full complement of hard drives and RAM (Kind of), it was all working and had Windows Server 2016 installed on it (Unlicenced). It was advertised as having light cosmetic scratches along the top but otherwise it was working perfectly and good as new. Now; I had a…

What do you get if you cross a server with a desktop computer? An IBM X3200 M3, apparently. Just a little amount of time after I took purchase of the HP ProLiant DL380 G5 Server, I also spotted this on eBay for (At the time) £8.00; plus free postage. Like with the previous one, my first thought was “Alright… What’s wrong with it?” Well quite a bit more than the previous one, but the seller wasn’t entirely honest about all that was wrong with it… We’ll get to that in a moment. I decided that the highest I’d go is £20 for this early on in the bidding; seeing as there was no postage and package costs. It was advertised as: IBM X3200 Tower Server M3 with a X3430 …

When is a NAS no longer just a NAS? Since Synology, apparently. I remember when a NAS (Network Attached Storage) was just a NAS, and whilst I like the features ingrained in a Synology NAS sometimes for lower end NAS’s it’s a bit much even for it to handle and it drags the device down. Now before any fan boys start kicking off, hear me out. I don’t think this is a bad thing as such, at all. I see it as giving the user a choice as to what they want to use their NAS for, and the rest they have to decide on. If they have feature X; they can have feature Y and feature Z but it might choke on that. Unless they have a more higher-end NAS that can handle it. I am p…

What use is an all in one PC, especially by HP of all OEMs? Watching YouTube or listening to music in the Kitchen, of course. Naturally. I found this one whilst browsing on eBay. It was marked down as broken; specifically “The Screen is Cracked” but it otherwise powered up. It included everything internally - HDD, RAM, processor, etc. But did not come with a power pack. There was no excitement with this one, I put down a maximum bid of £20, with the intention of taking it up to £30, and I pretty much won it at the end of the seven day listing for the listing price of £5 +£8.99 Shipping. Although I knew I would need to make other purchases, so £13.99 is n…

Do you know a company called Palm Inc? Ever heard of a PDA? If you were born after the 1990s or don’t have an interest in old technology then chances are you probably haven’t. I made a status about this one handy little device late on July 6th 2018. It is a Tungsten T5 PDA made by Palm Inc, on October 2004 (14 years ago last month!) But now I’ve opened it up and had a look on the inside and replaced the battery in it, which I will show the pictures to you in this topic. Item: PalmOne Palm Tungsten T5 PDA Organiser Price I paid: £9.99 Shipping: £4.40 (Royal Mail Second Class, Signed For) Total Cost: £14.39 Came With: Proporta Case, Stylus, USB Hotsync …

Once a month, a local comic book store holds Yu-Gi-Oh championship tournaments, with prizes and fierce competition. Back when Toys R Us was still big, I was in the Duelist League. Of course, that was long ago. But I wanted to get back into the game. Of course, I had some studying to do, since my prior knowledge stopped after Synchro Summoning. But I learned quickly, and all I needed to do was put together a deck. After some debating, I decided on using the Kuriboh archetype. What follows is the Kuriboh deck I took to tournaments. Monsters: X2 Winged Kuriboh X1 Winged Kuriboh LV10 X3 Kuriboh X1 Sphere Kuriboh X1 Kuribon X1 …

Hello EcchiDreams and welcome to Manni's Audio and Computer Thread, where I'll be putting some of the miscellaneous stuff I've acquired over the years. Obviously with the title of this thread, it'll mostly consist of audio goods and computer stuff. While I have been interested in computers for a few years more than audio equipment (2-3 years for audio equipment), it has mostly come out of my love for video games. The interest in computers was stirred from my love of video games, which began in childhood. First console I had was an original Nintendo...during the last hurrahs of the 16 bit era. Next console was a Super Nintendo during the early Playstation years. For most o…

I wasn’t comfortable for re-posting this up for a while because I was in the middle of getting things which with my income I do bit by bit; usually, or outright rely on gifts for birthdays and Christmas presents. If you didn’t know me already I’m apart of the Glorious PC Master Race; and as such I have my own beast and quite the sizeable Steam collection growing. But as I’m rather unfaithful I also have a few other bits and pieces; as I acquire more stuff over the years I might update the topic with a new posts. One of the reasons why I was uncomfortable with posting this up is because of the rather apparent misconception my first one provoked a while back. Needless to s…

So, 3D hentai compatible with the 3DS is a thing, as the title suggests. This takes advantage of a really cool feature, but that's not really the point. Basically, this thread encourages members who own a 3DS [or similar device] to share their favourite 3D hentai. QR Codes preferred, since it's the easiest way. But yeah, this thread is to let people share their favourites, and find new images thanks to other people. I'd really like to see some of what people can find. Bonus points for really interesting images. I look forward to your input. I will also be contributing to this thread. For starters: I may not think it's the best image personally, but …
