BladeRunner Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Between the various areas of the Recreation Sector were the Security Ward: a set of rooms and halls dedicated to the safety of the . Within this area are the receptionist area, interview rooms, evidence and lockers, storerooms and the highly secure cells and detention vaults. ----------------------------------------------- Vulture was watching footage of the mess hall where... He was simply watching out of pure boredom. The various rooms at the front of the Security Ward were offices for personnel and the likes, of course the Ward itself was empty with sparse officers here and there. Not that he cared, routine drills and patrols were necessary enough to keep him from talking with others. Not that anyone would have to do with Vulture given his model were instrumental in the fight against Earth years ago. No one won that conflict. The Protogen's thoughts were cut off when an alarm on his terminal went off. Ah yes, server review. He logged into the databases server to look over any logins not authorized. It would be like this for some time, looking through logs and various pages stored within memory of the vessel. Vulture couldn't help but think back to his service with Lunar Corp. and what it took to fight alongside them. The lies, the manipulation, first generation models of the Protogen were fooled into joining, but the industries and treatment to his kind were... Abusive, excessively so. Slaves, that's all they were until the war ended. As his anger and irritation was beginning to swell, Vulture's thoughts were interrupted by the sudden chime of another notification. He looked up to see the message, an hour has passed since he logged in and immediately started to do mental math. Had it already been an hour? He leaned back into his chair sighing into the silent nothingness. Vulture knew there was nothing else to do besides mundane tasks. Perhaps a patrol would do? 1
Chiyako Posted April 18 Posted April 18 What a day it had been already! Xyvee had finally woken from her slumber after five long years. She had met some of the crew. She had met her captain. She had discovered a planet and unintentionally named it the Human word for mating. It had been very embarrassing from there, but also enlightening! And, in some ways, thrilling! The Luanari had already learned so much and her day had only just started! Now that she was somewhat acquainted with her pilot position it was now time for Xyvee to meet her future friends in security! Or, perhaps, just the one friend? The one that she knew about. They hadn't really spoken yet but she had seen the man, or what she thought might be a man, and they were certainly much different from the other Humans! In fact it had been entirely possible that they weren't even Human at all! Technology and fur! Like the other small one. Maybe they are the same species? Either way I am very excited to learn more about them! And make friends! Just maybe with less embarrassment this time? With a soft hiss the metallic door leading into the security ward slid open. The petite creature's golden orbs darted about while she entered, glancing around at what was effectively her primary headquarters aboard the vessel. Receptionist area. Evidence room. Locker room and, if it was anything like a Luanari vessel, an attached armory. Storerooms. Cells. And, of course, the surveillance office. It was there that she located the large furry creature currently in the midst of relaxing within his seat. I suppose it may be a slow day, huh? Well now that I am here maybe I can help cheer him up! As she entered the room the little Luanari raised her right fist, settling it squarely against her mostly flat chest. She was of course dressed only in the skin-tight grey under-suit which her people wore as a uniform. It wasn't as though she needed the full armor, after all, right? "Evee reepoorteen for duty!" 1
BladeRunner Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Sighing again, Vulture went ahead and turned on an old 80's styled television set that was built into the wall. He went with Recorded Sports ecirdedabd sifted through the various clips until settling on a more recent one... After the end of the war of course, a month afterward actually. Griffball (I'm stealing this from Halo/Red VS. Blue) was a sport that came into being in 2042 A.D. and quickly became an American favorite. The Protogens minds were composed of a combination of Human and animal cells, so memories that weren't his were available. "Let's see... Ah, Texas Marshalls against the Kansas Chiefs, this ought to be a good one." Vulture thought as the Texas anthem, then the National anthem, then the world anthem played one after another. Of course he can easily multitask between the sport feed and his duties, given his thoughts process faster than that of a Humans, like a computer. And just as Vulture was watching the game he heard the hissing of the door, he turned in his seat to see... No one? No, he looked lower to see the gray sausage roll of an alien step on through, speaking in a small but proud voice. He barely knew any of these people, this one included. What was her name? But what struck him odd was the fact she was reporting for duty as if she worked here... Hell, She probably was the Protogen's supervisor. "You're... Yes, how may I help you?" Vulture asked in a low tone, as if the little bag of potatoes was a stranger to him. She is a stranger. 2
Chiyako Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Wait. Which of us is even in charge? Maybe neither of us? The little creature beamed her friendliest smile up towards the much larger furry robot, hand settling back down to her side. "Evee ees seecooreetee" she began, hands lifting up to point towards Vulture and then back to herself. "Maet." That doesn't sound right. Mate? Close. Err, wait, no! Partner! "Pootneer?" Pointed ears wiggled slightly. A noise which had lingered in the background had caught her interest. Making her way over to the desk the Luanari hoisted herself up to look over towards the screen. It was some sort of battle. Perhaps a study of combat formations? But then they didn't appear to be really fighting that much either. Also a ball of some sorts was involved. Clearly they weren't escorting anything important or delicate around. Even so, it was for some reason a bit exciting to her, enough so that her tail had emerged, wiggling just a slight bit behind her. "What is?" she asked before remember that she hadn't even gotten the creature's name. In effort to recover from her blunder she turned her attention back towards her fellow security officer. "Name?" Clearly the most natural end to her initial question, and definitely not two different ones at that! 1
BladeRunner Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Like a festering parasite the alien moved on in all willy-nilly, however the wording of Secretary caught the bio-mechanical being's attention. Ah, that explains it... Why the fuck would something like this be a secretary if they spoke broken English? Vulture lingered his gaze on the critter as it looked at the screen, obviously fixated on it until she asked for the name of the action and his own name. It was a bizarre sight to behold. "Model 245, designation, Vulture. And whst you are watching," Vulture clicks off the television set, "Are sports. Are you... Unfamiliar with your job as a secretary?" To the point and cut and dry, Vulture was one for no nonsense. If it were to take gis mind off the past this little shenanigan was better than just sitting on his tail. That said, Vulture stood up, though he was only 5'3" he still was much taller than... Chibi? Whatever. 1
Chiyako Posted April 19 Posted April 19 With the screen flickering off the little Luanari released her grip upon the desk, dropping back down to her feet. It was a shame too since it looked somewhat exciting! But she had also heard about sports before. They varied greatly, and some could be quite combative! Of course she didn't know what this one had been specifically, but that was fine. There was plenty of time to figure that out! Her head tilted somewhat to one side. Why would she be unfamiliar with security? Or had she used the right word? Security. Secretary. Oh. Woops! "Seecooreetee" she repeated, holding out a hand with her pointer finger extended. Much like a sidearm! "Secoority? Security? Security!" Xyvee's smile widened and her tail briefly flicked about! There it was! Or at least she was pretty certain. Her gaze lifted towards the large furry creature whose name, she had just learned, was Modeltwoforfive. Or was that a number? Two. Four. Five. Model. It was probably that. Also a nickname, much like what she used. Vulture. A bird, if she remembered correctly, which was a creature familiar to Humans. Was this a bird? A vulture? That was just a nickname, wasn't it? "Vootoor. Is nees meet!" 1
BladeRunner Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 Security? That was odd that a small creature such as this was allowed to act as security personnel. Then again, a war criminal such as Vulture was allowed onto the small team, if he didn't have military experience and legal help then he would've been decommissioned long ago. But a three foot tall alien? Was she strong? Did she have some innate powers? It was a mystery. With that established, Vulture asked, "Were you not in orientation before we went into cryo? Basic training, military training, and knowing the layout of the ship are required. Were you not given such things?" 1
Chiyako Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Xyvee's head shook once she'd figured out the word he'd used. Orientation. A meeting about something specific. In this case probably her duties as a security officer. Generally held with others who would perform the same task. No, she had not been there. But it wasn't as though she didn't have training either! "Evee meeleeteeree. Luanari meereen. Pilot. Soldier. Stroong." Okay, perhaps learning the layout of the ship might have been more useful than some of the things she'd learned, but her role was also to study them. To make friends with them. Even to check compatibility with Humans! And, well, whatever other creatures were aboard. The point was that she had been busy studying a lot of things. Security would, they'd hoped, come naturally to her. "Learning sheep. Ship. Learning crew." With a smile she extended a hand in Vulture's direction. "Is Human?" she asked with a slight tilt of her head. Sure, he didn't exactly look Human but it was entirely possible that he actually was! But if he wasn't, well, that was just far more interesting! Meeting other creatures would be unexpected, although very exciting too! "Evee want learn eevreetheng." 1
BladeRunner Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 Now standing did Vulture look down at the little potato. Psychic perhaps? He hummed as he listened to the broken English, a digit tapping on a TACPAD of something random. After he was finished the Protogen frowned upon being asked if he was Human. Somewhere in his mind and pride did he feel disgusted. "Human? No. Of Human make, yes. I am a Generation One Bio-Mechanical Semi-Organic Android. Or a Protogen for short. I am not one of those... Meatbags." Vulture's coloration of his facial lines on his visor changed color, glitching in fast second intervals before returning to the usual blue, he sighed, "By design my kind were created to... Be servants... Slaves, to the Humans. But that was long ago..." The Protogen realized that the TACPAD he held was destroyed by his grasp, tossing it onto the table, he realized some feelings got stirred up. Easy, Vulture, regulate bloodflow and slow your heart. The Protogen then looked back to the alien and continued, "But enough if me, what exactly are you? I don't have your kind in my memory." 1
Chiyako Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) During the course of explaining that he was in fact not a Human the creature stood before her managed to destroy the device that he had been holding. Of course she had noticed this. It left her confused, perhaps even a bit worried. Had she said something wrong? Or maybe he was supposed to destroy it? It did look important though! Not a Human! First iteration. Bio? Mechanical means machine. Semi. Semi? A vehicle? Oh, wait, it can mean partial too! Partial living. Or flesh. Also robot. Flesh robot. I think. Pro-to-gen. That is easier to remember! Although what is a meat bag? Food. Bag. Um, what? Confusion was visible across her face while she grappled with the many words used by Vulture. Protogen, she had managed to figure out, was what his species was called! Or her species? This was a completely different thing from a Human! Of course that also meant that it was an entirely new species to explore, one her people knew absolutely nothing about! That was very exciting! "Prootoogeen" she whispered softly to herself, only to then focus upon Vulture once more. His kind were created to be, well, that word she was confused by. Workers? Not quite. Lower classed species? Lower classed species who worked beneath the Humans. Served the Humans. Created by Humans. They are more advanced in certain ways than we give them credit for! But it feels kind of wrong somehow too. When he asked about herself Xyvee straightened out slightly, standing as proudly as she could! This was it! She was representing her people before an entirely unknown species! First impressions were important! "Is Luanari!" she began, only to instantly run into a barrier. What did Humans call them? Maybe Protogen were the same to them? "Alooeen?" No, that wasn't quite right. "Aleeoon?" Close! "Alien? Alien! Luanari is alien." Xyvee nodded. It was the easiest way to explain it to anyone new. "Is froom Luana. Very hoovy. Heevy? Heavy? Is very heavy. Evee very strong." With a smile and a nod the little Luanari relaxed her stance just a slight bit, tail having grown a bit larger still during its constant wagging behind her. This was all so very exciting! "Evee want learn aboot Protogen. Make saex with Protogen." Oh. Oh right! "F-freendsheep with Protogen! Yes. Saex is freendsheep." Edited May 1 by Chiyako 1
BladeRunner Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 "Lunari is it? That's new... I'll have to categorize that one." The Protogen said to himself as internally he made a bew folder on the potential appearances of these creatures based on Xyvee's appearance. It was bizarre enough, they again, Vulture was some Furry's fantasy come to life, so he took it being a bizarre case back. Just as the Protogen was about to suggest training exercise to see how experienced she was, the Lunari suggested something else. Something that Vulture had to double back on. If Saex was exactly what he thought it was, for one it was inappropriate, and two... It was illogical. He really thought about the situation then a thought came to mind that perhaps saex was something else. The alien did speak broken English, so his mind was set that this was the best logic. Crossing his arms, the Protogen asked with a quarked brow, "Very well... Show me what this "Saex" is then. I'm curious now." 1
Chiyako Posted May 2 Posted May 2 "Loo-ah-nar-ee. Luanari!" It was important to get these things correct, as she had unfortunately discovered during her discussion with the captain. Also he seemed to be talking about making some sort of record. The record had to be right! For her people! Also, for the good of science! It was also just the right thing to do, to make certain he had it correct. A rather strange challenge was then proposed to her: show him friendship. How did one do that? Did he not know what it meant? She had just clarified, after all! He wanted an example. Oh. Okay, how do Humans show friendship? Physical contact, right? If she remembered correctly from her studies there was one specific thing that a Human did to another Human to show their friendship. It was an embarrassing thing, but it worked none the less! Well, she hoped it worked anyway. Maybe it was different for a Protogen? But then if they were created by Humans then perhaps it was something they shared. With a confident nod to herself Xyvee made her way over to the creature. While he was certainly taller than she was he was thankfully not nearly as tall as someone like the captain. It would be a little less awkward! He was covered in some sort of metal, but there were seemingly fluffy parts to him. Even so she just had to hope that it worked. Arms opened up as she neared the creature. Another step in settled her petite body against his. Contact drove a faint pink across her face. Then she closed her arms, careful however not to squeeze too hard! Luanari were deceptively strong after all. The hug. A human maneuver for showing friendship to another creature! She cast a timid smile up towards Vulture as well. That was something more universal. Also she was just happy! Behind her Xyvee's tail wagged a bit too excitedly. "Saex!" 1
BladeRunner Posted May 9 Author Posted May 9 "This... Is half of what I expected," Vulture said to himself as the little alien blushed and gleefully and proudly hugged the Protogen, "Evee, this is a hug, not saex. It is good regardless that you know how to be friendly at least." Although the ProtifeProtogen didn't hug back allowing the hug to even happen was as much as he could afford. Now pushing the little alien away, Vulture cleared his metaphorical throat, "Now then, with that done, we shall go on a patrol. Routine patrols are common, every two hours you walk a route for another two hours. There are water and coffee breaks of course." 1
Chiyako Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Only half? What else did a Protogen expect out of friendship? How different was their version from what Humans had? Or from what Luanari had? As it turned out she didn't really have to wait long to figure out the problem. He did not equate a hug with friendship. Or, rather, he didn't equate saex with friendship. Oh. Oh, right! Her face gained a bright pink hue for a moment. "Oh! Saex is freendsheep!" She paused in thought. Did Protogen have hoetha? Golden orbs made a quick pass up and down along the creature's form. Would it be rude to ask? A hand settled upon her shoulder, applying enough pressure that she knew to release her grip. She took a couple of steps back, head tilting slightly while she listened. Patrol. Checking areas repeatedly for anything that might be off. Every two hours, which was a common measurement of time for Humans. They walk the ship, probably. There were also breaks, during which time things were consumed. We usually mostly rely upon digital surveillance. Maybe they don't trust the ship's capabilities? Well, this should be fun! With a smile the Luanari nodded, offering the Protogen another salute! "Evee reedy for eneetheeng!"
