Jumi watched Nall a little, but was glad the other two showed up before long.  It seemed to have went well, no contact with Reika.  Kaida mentioned a wound, one she kind of remembered seeing while exhausted in the bath.  Though she did not really know anything about it and was unsure if Shinigami did either.  It was not something she was inclined to ask about.  Maybe better not to know about it, after learning more about Reika.  She was not inclined to ask Mao either, especially while eating.  Though she was eating at a more normal pace now.  “I could not tell you anything about that, but I’m glad it went well.”  She was still trying to figure out what to think about Reika, but Mao seemed to be closer to Shinigami, no reason to have any negative feeling about her.

Reika was not Nall’s fault.  He was not there.  She maybe should have tried harder to talk Mitsuko out if it.  She just had to, with some unease and reluctance, trust Reiko about her being returned healed and that she would ‘like what she saw’.  But she did not want to say too much about that.

With the fact that Kaida now knew the name, her expression changed to a somewhat serious one. "...Of course Mitsuko knew Reika's beast...", she spoke her thought out, "A goddess, that beast, Reika... You found yourselves in quite some trouble, I see... It might not be a bad thing that you found me, after all. My interest in Shinigami did not change but maybe I should offer my help.", she suggested, "I do not have the luxury of being part of a team but maybe for a moment, I could help yours." The offer seemed to be like a shock to Tenshi, who did not like the idea of Kaida putting herself in danger. Good cause or not, she was afraid of what such an offer could mean for her safety... The threats for magical girls.

More information was out there now.  Better or worse.  Jumi assumed at this point that Tenshi was at least aware of Kaida’s true nature, to speak this openly about it.  Though it was not clear if she was a Magical Girl too, or just someone who was aware.  “No team, completely by yourself?”  She indirectly asked.  It was not ideal to reveal yourself to a random civilian, but she assumed Kaida had a good reason, if Tenshi was in fact a civilian.  She would not dwell on that though, let Jaida answer or not however she chose.  She instead shifted focus to the offer, wanting to verify the details.  “Well, we will follow the plan.  Eat first, take you to the temple to meet Shinigami, but exactly what are you proposing we do from there?”  It would probably be too awkward to do anything long term.  Nothing like being proper teammates, but help might be useful. It would also be useful to Mitsuko to have Kaida around while she was at school.  Not a place Jumi could visit incredibly frequently.

Tenshi herself always seemed worried about what might or not happen. This conversation seemed to bring this emotion of hers to its worst. Kaida however continued, "This brings us to your other question. I might be getting ahead of myself so please forgive me. You may already have plans made and I would feel horrible to disrupt that in any ways. I would not dare assume that you cannot manage on your own. My only intention was to at least help you with your troubles.". Maybe it was a little uncalled for to insert herself within their group. Reika and Lenneth sounded like big threats however and she thought that they could use her power. Or was it better not to get involved? She was after all, all by herself.

 

Shinigami did not really have much surprises left for the priestess. Her playfulness with her was limited by what she felt was best for her first time. This session was the roughest she wanted to be with her for the time being. At least from her perspective, it was more than enough. Jumi could see the point, but as one veteran to another felt it worth addressing the point on the convention.  “No offense taken, though like I told Mitsuko, it’s nice to have a few days to relax and the crowd appreciates the chance to see and talk to us without there being something around trying to kill them.”  The convention had value to everyone involved, as far as she was concerned.  A few days of relaxation would not doom the world.  Worst case scenario, Magical Girls/Knights could leave the building to deal with a true emergency.  Or teams from further away could be called upon.  It was a regional, rather than world wide event, partially as a precaution to avoid having everyone on break at the same time.  “I’ve been doing this since I was a little kid, those sort of events are the only time I consider myself truly off the job.”  A little extra about herself, that while she was young, she had been doing this along time, but maybe not as long as Kaida.

She was not so convinced the ‘war’ would ever be over.  Mostly because it was not just one enemy, new ones kept showing up, but it was nice to see someone so hopeful, she would not say anything about that.  Not something to argue over.  “We will see what happens.  After tonight and the next few days.  Some things are planned, some things we don’t really know what to do about.  It is nice to have the offer, whatever help it might turn out to be.”  The was the short term issue, hopefully, with Reika and Mitsuko healing.  Then they still had to figure out the big question with Shinigami.  Other more positive changes too, seeing how living together with Mitsuko and it seemed Shinigami was going to work.  Helping train Mitsuko as a Magical Girl, probably other things.

She warned, eyeing both the priest and Jumi but without judging them personally.

After the rest of what Jumi said, Kaida softened a bit, trying not to get too riled by something she could not do much about anyway. "It looks like you have lot of troubles on your hand... I might not be able to help with everything but I'd certainly like to help especially with Reika being around you now. Can you tell me more about what you don't know what to do about? Or is it about Shinigami? A beast woman born, assuming she is not demon, will not have it easy in this world but it's not impossible. Regardless of what we manage to prove, she might still be hunted. With or without Reika, this is unfortunately a difficulty. The sacred flame might still help... It is used to purify corruption.", she explained.

”Yeah, the biggest question, figuring out what to do long term with Shinigami.”  She moved to the more pleasant topic of conversation, the biggest issue that had been weighing on her and would continue to do so, especially after things with Mitsuko were resolved.  “No quick or easy answers there.  Going to be difficult to move her around, though her powers might help.”  The biggest trick was to sneak her into the apartment.  Once there things would be pretty cramped, but Shinigami would hopefully be able to use those portals she could make to avoid it being too suffocating, especially while she and Mitsuko were out.  “Going to have to get Mitsuko better trained to, but that is less of a mystery, just hard work.”  She had some idea how to do that, Shinigami might be able to help too.  It was something that might eat into their downtime for a while, but needed to be done.

 

There was something different this time, though Umi was not sure what that was, it did improve the experience more though.  Stretching her further, though not uncomfortably so.  She was making an endless stream of noises she never imagined she would have made before today. Kaida was at least smart enough to figure that something was amiss. "As for Mitsuko, it sounds like she is in good hands. I am sure that you will be able to help her well. I would be glad to meet with her and see how she is now, besides seeing why she has such a cute guardian.", Kaida said, flattering Nall at the same time.

 

Shinigami held Umi close, keeping her safe while everything happened. Only at the end as they were panting did the fox pull out carefully and let herself and her partner rest. "I will have to apologize for the bed but hopefully, you enjoyed this experience. I will help with cleaning, though. For now... You might want to consider the bath that I mentioned. I've taken care of three humans already so you can be guaranteed to enjoy that as well.", she told her as she put her down gently. "Nothing a gate can't help with... You don't even need to dress. Especially in your state.". Shinigami grinned but felt satisfied for now, having her extra part disappear for the moment but resting for a bit, until Umi might be ready to go. She knew her way around enough now to teleport anywhere with her gate. Something she could use to go about anywhere she wanted, if they chose. But that would be something to decide later if they wanted.

Jumi wondered how much she should say.  Not out of mistrust, but not wanting to trouble Kaida and hopefully not complicate things.  But she had to admit at least some of it.  “That was where we found her yes.  Shinigami was not exactly out in the crowd, but we did run into her in the back halls there.  We did not really know what to expect, went along with her to a house she was staying at to get her away from the crowd.  Well, a lot happened there.  Place got destroyed after Reika decided to introduce herself to me in a dream.  Lost the one place Shinigami could easily stay long term.  Leading us first to the temple and now trying to figure out what to do from there.”

Umi took the moment to relax, not overly troubled at the moment over the bed, though the sheets were in a condition they had not been in before.  Dirtied by fluids that she had been unaware of before the whole experience.  Something would probably have to be done about that, but it was still fairly early.  It was probably more important to clean herself.  She let out a content sigh.  “That would probably be a good idea.  The sheets can be taken care of later, easy enough to replace.”  She remained still, relaxing on the bed for a moment, letting Shinigami move at her own pace and to see how she did.

Kaida looked confused for a moment after hearing the answer and she was not alone. Tenshi also showed a part of confusion but also Nall and Mao, the last one was for the most because she did not witness any of the early events. For Kaida, there was one or more details that bothered her. "The back halls...? What could Reika's beast be doing in the back halls of the convention? And just like that, you... followed her to a house she stayed? I can understand Reika being trouble, she was a lot of times, but following such a beast if you didn't know what she was sounds dangerous. She could have been a demon.", she said, figuring that something about this did not make sense. At the same time, she did not exactly see Shinigami for herself. Her name alone was not something new in culture however. Kaida was not aware of the whole death cult going on with Reika but the name of the beast alone was enough to fear about.

Nall was holding his head, feeling like this woman would figure soon or later anyway. "I can't take it anymore. She attacked the convention and almost killed someone but Mitsuko stopped her by giving herself to her! She didn't want that beast to kill every humans there so it was the only way she found. You can't understand what kind of shiver she sent through everyone. The power she had there was monstrous. Mitsuko wanted to give up her power and I almost had lost her but then Jumi followed her and I did too. We stayed there for days until that beast helped us escape because of that scary woman who might have killed us too!", Nall spoke fast, suddenly, without breathing seemingly, leaving Kaida speechless. In a way, she had guessed that Shinigami may have been the attacker in the convention but to be told like this. Trying to piece this together, she turned to Jumi, eyeing her guests while Nall lowered his ears.

 

Shinigami relaxed for a bit before she mustered the strength to pick Umi up, holding her close while she stood out of the bed. Opening one of her gates in this very room, she peeked through to make sure that nobody was there then entered with her, letting it close behind her back. Lowering the priestess down as she entered the spring, she made sure that Umi was comfortably sat then sat down in front of her. "Take a moment to enjoy this... After that, I can take care of you. No need to do the same. I'll make sure you get out of here the same way you were before we did this.", Shinigami assured to her partner, at least making an effort to hide what they had done together. Her few experiences with humans in a bath so far allowed her to know about what they used to clean up and she would start to do so silently, unless Umi gave a word to intervene anyhow. Washing a human did not feel different from doing herself.

Well, Nall threw it all out there.  Not necessarily a bad thing, but it was a lot for the others to digest.  Jumi was not entirely sure exactly what to say next.  “…Yeah, more or less, my thought process and motives were a lot different between when we left the convention and when we returned just before it closed.”  It was probably better to let them process it and figure out what they wanted to say or ask before she said too much.  The trick of course was not to leave the wrong impression of what happened.  It changed everyone involved, but in good ways, not Mitsuko and herself being corrupted.  There was a danger some might jump to that conclusion, but hopefully Kaida understood it was not the case, Jumi at least not coming off as a Broken Girl.  Hikaru remained silent too in the moment but was likely to help if there was any negative confusion.

 

Umi took the moment to relax, the waters were of course quite familiar to her.  She had used them her entire life.  The only thing different his time was her companion and some of what had to be washed.  She had an experience unlike any in her life, it would a while before she did anything like that again.  Even when she eventually found someone else, most likely her future husband, it would be different in a number of ways.  It might not happen again with Shinigami, but she was happy she made the choice.  Relaxing, taking in that sh had experienced something quite enjoyable and special.  Her eyes were closed, but she was unlikely to fall asleep.  She was quite satisfied, not very tired.

Kaida tried to process the whole thing while Tenshi instead remained quiet, shifting her nervous gaze between all present. There was a lot to take it, now with that new perspective. She had heard of the events at the convention but only in details spoken by others. It was difficult to tell how dangerous this beast really was but if they tried to find a way for her to fit in then surely she was not the exact same that she was back at that event... Still... "So... This Shinigami came to the convention and you were made to follow her... And somehow, she is your friend now. If she really is not a demon, hoping that Reika did not go this far, I think I can believe it so far. The high priest would not be here if you had been compromised."

Nall did not feel too good about spouting it out, fearing that at least Jumi might lecture him about it. Kaida however felt hopeful that something good had happened as any other possibilities would surely not have lead to them trying to make the beast fit in among humans. "But, to be clear, for everyone involved, she WILL be an enemy to eliminate. With that fact revealed, nobody will try the chance that she might have redeemed herself. I would not doubt that news about her have already spread among magical girls, knights, everyone. Or it will very soon... Staying with her will be a challenge unlike any other and I am not talking of demons. I... still want to meet with her.", she said, hiding that she was a bit nervous.

 

Ignoring Umi's closed eyes, which was either her relaxing or sleeping, Shinigami went along with her plan of washing her, doing so everywhere for her carefully. It would take a while before she finished but when she was finally done, she pulled back and moved some space away so she could wash herself just the same. The fox made sure to stay where Umi could see her if she wanted to watch. She did not make a show out of it but she did not try to hide anything that she was doing. Her time with Umi had been pleasant but her mind was still plagued with thoughts of what Reika might have done or might do with Mitsuko in her grasp. She knew what she was going through but there were still possibilities involved.

“I cannot speak for what happened at the convention.  I was present for parts of it, but did not see the events in the hall.”  Hikaru finally spoke up giving his impression of the parts of this he was aware of.  “But I know demons.  My family has fought them for many generations, I can not say with certainty what Shinigami is, but she is not a demon.  Did not act like them.”  There was one other key piece of evidence, that convinced him more than anything.  “While at the temple, they prayed to Maxim, the Demi-god our temple is dedicated to, distant ancestor of us who live there.  They hoped for his help.  He gave them an audience.  He unfortunately was not able to help, but that he tried and showed no hostility to Shinigami was the ultimate proof to me that she is not an enemy.  Unfortunately it is only proof to me and others in the temple, will not make wider acceptance easier.”  He then sighed.  

”Reika on the other hand is harder to figure out.  She appeared twice in the temple, to my unease, though she never attacked.  I do not know why she would have told us to meet you either.  Nothing you have told us benefits her, in any way I can see.  If she wanted to try to manipulate us, it would have been easier before meeting you.”  Was a fight inevitable?  It was hard to say, the biggest question was what happened after Mitsuko was healed and whether Reika continued to try to appear around Jumi, Mitsuko and Shinigami.  He was troubled by her, but it remained to be seen  if there would be a fight, if so, he was unlikely to be there.

 

Umi quietly rested as Shinigami did her thing, it was nice.  Not rushed but not especially long, good and thorough.  She adjusted her position when needed but remained mostly still and quiet.  By the time it was done, she was cleaned of the most obvious evidence of what had been done, but she still had the feeling of the experience.  One of her few remaining innocences taken away, given away.  When it was done, she relaxed sone more, but eventually, she opened her eyes, watched sone of it.  She thought it might be interesting to see how different it might be, even if the differences might only be minor things.

Kaida finally heard the high priest speak a little more. What he said made sense with what she assumed abour Shinigami, or rather, Reika's beast so far. "She was made according to Reika's wishes... I am not entirely surprised that she succeeded without using demonic energy. Her experiences only ever relied on her own magic and what twisted ideas that came from her frightening mind. Unfortunately, it will not change anything after what Shinigami has done at the convention... In the eyes of people, she will be just the same as a demon. You might be able to convince some of who she really is, I mean, I believe you but many will come for her and will not be stopped easily. Your only solution will be to fight. If you decide to remain at her side, you have to prepare for what will come out of it... Sorry if I say something that you already know. But this is why I want to help... You will need allies.", she told them, willing to help.

Reika was another issue on her own but one seemingly different than Shinigami. The fact that she was the one to send these people to her instead of doing anything else was strange on its own but Kaida did not doubt that Reika did not change, based on what she was told. Worse, she even found herself living long past her own suicide, thanks to the power of a god of sort. But yes, the high priest was correct, if the little dragon knew anything about the girl, she would have done worse if she wanted to cause harm. Why mix her into all this and why now? Surely Reika was not looking to redeem herself somehow. Or was there a darker plan? "All I will say is do not trust her... Not entirely. She wanted you to find out more about her or about something else. Perhaps find Shinigami's origins. I don't know but be wary of what intentions she may have. Whatever she plans might not be over yet.", Kaida tried to warn all of them.

 

Shinigami took her time washing herself, making sure that she took care of every inches. If at least for Umi's curiosity of her body, she made sure to let her see her work, usually facing what side she was doing for her to see. The fox was not really putting a show but she was not hiding anything either, except a certain part now invisible. Taking a while with shampoo and soap, she finished with her head and her ears last before she was done completely and sat leisurely with her paws toward Umi from the other side of the spring. "I hope you enjoyed that... I don't do that often for anyone but it is entertaining to get used to this. I don't know where I'll be later but if I come near this place again, I'll pay a visit.", she said to the priestess for fun, like goodbyes were soon. At the same time, she was not sure when anything would be happening or when they would leave this temple, with or without Mitsuko, who might take a while.

“We’ve already convinced a few.  It was in the halls too.  There were not many who saw it.  One of those we convinced also helped us get out of the building and city without being seen.”  Jumi filled in a few more pieces.  “I’m not new at this, I know how many might see it.  How I might have seen it if I was not in the middle of it.  Not expecting it to be easy, but I’m not running away from it either.”  She was still hoping they could avoid fighting anyone over it, but she was not naive enough to think some might be unable to be talked out of it. To think she and Mitsuko were Broken Girls, a concern Mitsuko certainly had and expressed a willingness to fight over if absolutely necessary.

”As for Reika, well, that’s up to her.  I’m still trying to figure out what is going through her head too.  I will fight her if necessary, but I’m not going to be the one to make the first strike unless she does more to provoke it.”  She had conflicted feelings over the girl, Reika managed to reduce her initial hate/suspicion, but as she made it clear to her, they were not friends.  She really did another enemy as powerful as Reika might be either.  She would be cautious about manipulation, but as troubling as Reika’s past was, Jumi was not going to be the one to attack her first, especially if she kept her word over Mitsuko.  Mitsuko being hurt was the one thing that could turn Jumi’s wrath against her.  So far, she was willing to trust Reika’s word on that one matter though.  Especially since Shinigami also seemed to believe Mitsuko was safe.  Getting Mitsuko back, and trying to find a way to get Shinigami accepted were priorities.

 

Umi was a little rested now, but still held a relaxed position, not moving much.  Just quietly watching.  “I have never really watched such a thing before.  Never paid much attention to others washing here before.  It was surprisingly enjoyable just to watch.”  Of course the others at the temple were all family, by blood or marriage.  Not the sort of people she would look at much, or if so, completely casually.  It was another surprise with Shinigami.  She had never appreciated the beauty of another woman’s figure before.  Never had an attraction to it.  But after what they did, it was hard not to look at Shinigami’s body in a way she never looked at someone before.  She was not sure if it was just Shinigami, what she did, what she had, it was hard to guess if she would ever see a human woman that way.  She might not get a chance anytime soon.  “Once they are back, I do still intend to take you to Jumi’s place for the time being.  I hope it works out, though you may need to find another place sooner or later.  You would of course be welcome to visit here at times.”

It was hard to know how well the idea would work with living with Jumi and Mitsuko, after she healed, it might not be sustainable but it probably was the best option at least in the short term.  Just maybe, hopefully, they could find a solution before being forced to move.

Kaida blinked for a moment at the first words. She had not forgotten the strange event that had occurred that covered the city in pink mist. Not many could pull such a move. "That was you... Of course that was you. You have created some confusion among everyone, I can tell you this much. Thankfully, it was harmless. It is good to know someone did choose to help you. To pull such a spell on a city to do so for you, it sounds like a good ally. What did they think of Shinigami, however...?", she curiously asked at the end, wondering how another one magical knight or girl reacted to the beast she herself still had not met but grew curious to find out. Surely, she did not look too bad in itself if some were convinced to help her.

As for Reika, Kaida still felt like the girl was cryptic but from her memories, far from sane. A fight probably could be avoided and it was hard to say if she would herself meet with her at this point. It was very likely that she would show herself to her sometimes but when was impossible to tell. "RIght, it is wise to wait... Still, she was quite fearsome as herself before. I cannot imagine what kind of power she managed to find with her experiences or what she has been up since her, well, her death...", Kaida said. She did not remember Reika being exactly powerful but her lack of morals was a part of what made her scary to a lot of people. Nall's reaction to her name however seemed to say a lot about what she could expect with her.

Mao herself kept quiet, listening to what was being said about Shinigami and Reika. She could do a lot more but her experience with the both of them was her own and she was not aware of her full history of before. Having made the others aware of her past was one thing but did Reika plan to also tell Mao that way? She did not show any real emotions as usual so knowing what she was thinking could be hard to decipher. Her gaze remained on what food was on the table right now. As for Tenshi, she was listening with interest but felt some worries still. Unlike Kaida, she didn't know much if anything about all of that. A good part of this was new information to her and not much of it sounded very comforting for her to hear.

 

Shinigami was satisfied with the answer for now, relaxing on the edge of the spring. "You don't look the kind to do so. I suppose some humans are still new at this. Some others I've met were more used to do a lot more casually. Giving you a taste of that was more fun than I thought.", she replied, amused by the fact that Umi had been quite different from others before so far, Reika aside. That one was without any doubts the most shameless of all but Jumi and Nymphia looked pretty comfortable with things. Mitsuko was oddly fine with her fate when she was made to follow her completely naked, which was altogether interesting. The reference to Jumi reminded her that she had to go with them soon, to leave the temple.

Shinigami did not exactly know how that would go but she was fine with the ride so far. There were issues to deal with, Reika being part of it with all of her secrets and possible lies. It made the fox find hard to believe everything she was told by her but one thing she hopefully trusted right was Mitsuko being safe in her hands. Having let her be taken, she knew that Jumi was not exactly fine with it. The best that she could hope for was that Reika kept her word. "Another place, huh... Humans and their fear of monsters, I guess. I will try and not give them troubles. Jumi and Mitsuko are doing a lot to help me. I will see how far this goes but I will be good. If humans try anything, they will find me, though.", she kindly warned.

There was a lot more uncertainty how Jumi and Reika’s next meeting would go.  Reika had said Jumi would not like what she heard, it was true, there were unpleasant things she had learned.  Being so connected to Death was not a good thing either.  But she seemed to have regret Mitsuko being unintentionally hurt and was making a legitimate effort to heal her.  She wanted to be cautious, not ruling out Kaida’s warnings, but at the same wondering if she did actually change at least to a degree.  She wondered if she would get more of a hint in that next meeting.  Her ‘punishment session’.  Jumi no longer had as much enthusiasm about it, but she was not going to back out now.  Especially if it helped give her a more complete picture of who Reika was now.  But that was one thing she would not speak of.  A private thing for her and Reika alone, just like the dream they met in.  Jumi felt whatever happened with Reika, she had to experience at least parts of it on her own.

“We have avoided much attention so far, but yeah, sooner or later something is going to happen.  We just have to prepare ourselves.  I’m just hoping I can keep things quiet until after Mitsuko is back.  Going to have to figure things out with Shinigami.  She does not like to be confined in small spaces.  But she also at least some ability to move around with portals.  Hopefully I can keep her out of sight of people who not see her for a while.  But it may happen before we can figure out a solution.”  Sneaking Shinigami into the apartment.  Keeping her there, only leaving and returning via portal, Jumi hoped it was at least a short term solution.  But they would have to at least think about other options.

”As for how others see Shinigami, so far it was mostly two.  One’s an old friend, which made things easier.  But the one who helped us escape was new.  Nice girl, was quite understanding.  Shinigami left a good impression on her, though I know it won’t always be that easy.  My friend might not have been so easy to convince if we had not known each other so long.  Others might have a similar outlook without the prebuilt trust.”

 

“I do not know how much I will do in the future.  Someday I will marry a man, only do such things with him, have his children.  But that is likely to be a few years in the future.  Until then, I am free to what I will.  As long as it is not an enemy, everyone here will accept it.”  Umi was not surprised she lost her virginity to someone other than her future husband, but before yesterday she would not have imagined it would have been something like Mitsuko, not human, more woman than man.  She was happy with her choice.  “That is just my way, as a temple priestess.  Humans vary greatly these days.  Some will tie themselves to a single partner for life.  Others are more open.  I could not imagine Jumi ever tying herself to a single partner, man or woman.  I do not know Mitsuko well, but whatever she might have felt before, my guess is Jumi will at least somewhat influence her.”  There was a chance she and Shinigami might do more in the future, but it was only a possibility until Umi married.  But Umi was convinced Shinigami did not have to worry about anything like that with either Jumi and Mitsuko.  Shinigami had found some women who always be there for her.  And with Jumi around, she suspected there would be other temporary women around as well, especially if they could find a way to make Shinigami more accepted.

Kaida heard more about the fox but what she understood almost sounded cute like it was a pet of sort. One evidence was that Shinigami certainly had lot of power but where from was a question for another time. To hear that a magical girl or two actually accepted the beast did raise some hope. If she was as lowly as a demon, not a single one would really trust her. Unless Shinigami had a swirft mean to charm anyone, it did not look like a spell was involved in the wish to help her. It even sounded like she had a different kind of magic. "Portals, you say. I can understand not liking to feel confined. Nobody likes that. However, her ability might help go somewhere quiet.", Kaida concluded.

Such means would be the same as hiding in open sight without anyone to see her. If the solution was to help Shinigami, maybe they handled it well already. It was not like Jumi was going to head into conflict on purpose. At least now Kaida understood a little more. "I see what you intend to do... I suppose following you to your home is out of question but I would gladly see you home safe at the very least. We cannot be sure that she was not followed, even with what you caused in the city. It would take a single one who knew where she is to put you in danger. It's the least I can do before I return here and see if anything can be done.", she said, feeling that it was better to do it like this.

"If Reika decides to show herself then so be it but if she prefers to keep this between you, I will pray that she does not cause you too much troubles... But... You still appear to be with her familiar, which I had a pleasant moment to examine earlier. I would not want you to speak against your mistress but can you tell us anything at all? Does she plan to harm anyone?", Kaida risked asking the catgirl who finally raised her eyes to look at her. A moment of thinking or hesitation later, she shook her head. "She did not say anything regarding her intentions. All she ordered me to do was to stay with Lady Shinigami and her friends...", she replied. "Friends. I see...", Kaida responded with a smile.

 

The culture of humans was explained to the fox, telling her of how love or signs of love or family building worked. That was something Shinigami ignored completely about. She dealt more in free fun with anybody who wanted it, not exactly knowing what love was but still enjoyed her time with Jumi or Mitsuko enough to be with them still. If she gained the ability to give or even bear any children, would that be a sign of love? She was not made with reproduction in mind. She was unique and her only mother was potentially Reika. That was the only family she had ever known, for what a family meant to someone like her. There was Mao, in a sort of way. But she was more of a sister.

As Umi explained, humans seemed to follow many different rules when it came to love but Shinigami did not have any real rules. She had openly played with many girls already. Jumi seemingly so as well... Mitsuko was otherwise definitely new and yet still willing to feel the fox against and inside her. "She might... Mitsuko was new at this but not afraid to let me handle her. That might be her alone, though. That girl got too curious about me... She can't let go of me but I like that. Jumi is harder to please...", she commented with a certain amusement, without forgetting some of the fun she had with her before. "You will be fine. Find your human. Don't speak of me.", she said mockingly.

“The current plan was for one of the priestesses at the temple to take the two of them, probably at night to reduce chance of being seen.  But extra help would probably be a good idea.”  Hikaru elaborated on the current plan.  “After you come to the temple and meet Shinigami, we can decide the next step.”  It would be interesting to see the meeting, this woman who had a past with Reika, meeting her creation.  He was not sure how long that meeting would last before the step of taking Jumi and Shinigami home would be, but he was willing to let them stay a while into the night.

“I suspect Reika will not appear, unless maybe if she wants to say something to you.  Hopefully she will behave herself if she does.  I believe she knows better than to cause too much trouble at the temple.  There is a real chance she might provoke divine punishment.  But we will remain on guard until all our guests are gone.”  He would not relax too much, but he did believe if Reika became hostile on the temple grounds there was a real chance of Maxim getting involved and he had to hope Reika was not arrogant enough or believed herself powerful enough to fight such a being.  If she could, Jumi and himself were unlikely to be able to do much to her.

”She does seem to care about Shinigami.  Not necessarily in a healthy way.  But one thing I am fairly sure of is she won’t do anything to make Shinigami too angry.”  Jumi added, in part adding on to what Mao said.  “I don’t know what will happen in the end, but at least for now I don’t expect her to try to attack us or anything like that.  She might have some curiosity towards how this whole thing of trying to help humans accept Shinigami goes.  She is not helping, but she does not seem like she is getting in the way either, but she might not expect it to be possible.”  Was the idea that if it failed Shinigami would go back to her.  That Reika might even pull in her and/or Mitsuko?  It did not seem impossible.  She guessed her next meeting with Reika would be in a dream again though, unless Hikaru was right that Reika wanted to see Kaida.  Her first night back home might be a night with Reika that she could not guess who would go, or she might wait longer.  All she was fairly certain of was she would see Reika at least once more before Mitsuko was healed.  Probably privately.

 

Umi, temple members in general, did not go through the sort of courtship many humans did.  While she hoped for love, the relationship would be a bit traditional.  “I will likely wait for him to come to me.”  She would not bore Shinigami with details, but would explain a little.  “We do things the old fashioned way.  We hope for our children to be Magical Girls or Knights.  In addition to carrying on the blood of Maxim, we try to marry those in such role or families of such.  Much like how Hikaru’s late wife was a Magical Girl.”  She did not elaborate, not knowing Shinigami had met the sister of the one she referred to.  “It is my hope to marry a Knight or a man related to a Knight or Magical Girl.  All Magical Girls and Knights did such in the past, though it tends to only be the more traditional families, like ours that continue the tradition these days.  There are those out there that know we still do things the old way, and may seek a man or woman to marry here.  Until then, I am a bit closer Io Jumi in my outlook.”   Now that she had the taste of it, she could not rule out other short term partners before marriage, though she did not expect to have a significant number.  She would wait for such a man.  If one never showed up, there were ways make her availability known to the various teams out there, see if any were interested.

Kaida thought about it but nodded to Hikaru. "I suppose that would work... If you make it home safely then I think you will be alright unless someone sees her thereafter. The temple helping her however is already a great deed. I would have expected you to have banished her already if she was a threat or simply because of what she is. Almost every magical girls and knights would have. I am to believe even the temple cannot change much about how people would view her, if she is to hide still...", she pondered. Jumi and Mitsuko probably would not start a fight with anyone but it did not mean Shinigami would not, if she felt forced to it. Or if she felt bored, being herself a beastkin.

"Reika lacked in morals and sanity but I do not think that she would fight a god unless she herself became one somehow... It is hard to say what her suicide lead to. What I thought would be the end of her, it appears like she not only survived but continued her experiences, creating Shinigami in the process... A goddess of death created in death... And yet, I am told that she might even be friendly, at least with some of you. I do believe an examination would help us understand her better. If she did not attack the temple already, for whatever purpose... She might understand what danger she might face but again... Reika does not reason in being afraid of death.", she told everyone.

If Reika cared about Shinigami, it made sense if she was her mother in a sort of way. Still, Jumi had a point in her thinking. If Reika treated this like a game of sort but one question was raised. "But wait... How did Shinigami find herself with you. Is she not keeping in what home she lives in? I believe I missed this part... Or is it because Shinigami prefers to be with you and Mitsuko? What is the reason that she and her are not together? Forgive me if you already mentioned it but there is so much to process, with Reika still being around this many years later...", she said, having troubles to at least understand this part. "Either way, we should finish soon. I seem to have held you for a while..."

 

Shinigami was surprised to hear how their world worked but it was not going to change much for her. "Humans and their magic. At least, that makes things interesting. I saw many of them in that place in the city. Reika thought I could have some fun with my power there but I came back with two humans and a cat instead. I don't think she liked the way I did things... I knew what she would have done if I had let her but doing things my way earned me some pain... Not the kind you would want.", she said, still irked by how much she was raped. Nothing that Jumi could have matched even with all powers. "Otherwise, you will do fine. You're not like me.", she teased her while grinning.

Shinigami was at least self aware that she was seen like a villain. The convention had done plenty of that but she did not exactly care. It was who she was, who Reika made her to be, who Reika was herself, being the avatar, embodiment, follower or whatever of a death god she had not quite seen herself. She and Mao, were to be the pets that scared humans or at least most humans. Maybe she was not a demon but that did not change much. At the very least, her interaction with a few friendly humans so far did change her perspective on what she should or should not do with those humans out there but she understood the threats that humans imposed. What battle awaited her.

“We have spent many generations fighting demons and monsters, studying them to help us learn ways to do so.  Shinigami I could see was different, and I have known the Fairy here for some time.  If she will speak up for someone, I trust her word.”  Hikaru explained his acceptance of Shinigami, her being welcomed.  As for what the temple could do to try to help.  “I do have some connections, people I can speak to.  The temple is respected by local authorities, unfortunately it will not be quite so easy to convince the average person.  Living under the threat of demon and monster attack for so long, the people are likely to be scared by anything that looks too much like one.  Sadly the number of such creatures that have been friends to humanity are even fewer than those humans twisted or tortured into joining them.”  Things like Broken Girls were thankfully very rare, but still, demons or monsters that wanted to help humans for non-selfish reasons were even rarer.  Hikaru was not even sure there were any confirmable cases, though there might have been a few in myth or legend.  “The temple is also only a short term solution.  The happily accept guests who need assistance.  But only temple members are allowed to live there long term.  The temple is family, all members either born into it, or joining by marrying a current member.”

“I doubt Shinigami would mind meeting you.  Not sure what she would think about you knowing Reika, but in the limited experience I’ve had so far she does not seem to be hostile to anyone who is not hostile to her.”  Jumi gave her thought on the meeting.  It probably would go in the direction it had when she met other new people, especially if she and Umi were doing what Jumi suspected.  Hopefully Shinigami would not be uneasy about an examination from someone who used to know Reika. 

Then a question that was more difficult.  How they got where they were.  Jumi let out a soft sigh.  “I’m still not completely sure everything that happened there.  Shinigami could probably explain it better.  Goes back to the night I met Reika.”  She would have to do her best to explain, somewhat guessing.  “Like already said, me Mitsuko and Nall were taken by Shinigami via portal to a house she had been living in.  No idea where it was, never looked around outside.  After a few days there, Reika decided to introduce herself to me in a dream.  A haunted version of the house. Surrounded by what I could say was… ‘post apocalyptic’ surroundings for what she showed me when she opened the door.  Whole lot of trying to get me to eat an apple, which I did not.  After it was done, well let’s just say things happened.  Shingami destroyed the place and some relics that were apparently a significant source of power.  Another run in with Reika, and that goddess who is after Mitsuko.  We escaped back to the convention on its last night.  No idea what happened between Reika and that goddess.  Shinigami no longer has that place to go back to is the big thing.”

 

Umi did not want to say too much.  She knew very little about Reika, what Shinigami thought of her or their past together.  She did not know the sort of pain Shingami referred to, though she was aware of what demons often did to human woman.  But that was at least primarily male demons, she had little understanding of what two women did together, willingly or not.  She was aware of how casual Jumi was with partners, but it was not like Jumi bragged about the specifics.  “I hope it will work out for you.  Jumi is a good girl, Mitsuko seems to be as well from the little I have seen.  I’m sure they will try there hardest to help others accept you.  I don’t know Reika, what she has done or what she might do.  But hopefully it end in one way or another that will not be painful for you.”  She did not know if a fight was inevitable or not, if Shinigami hoped to be free of Reiko or not.  Or if Reika could somehow be redeemed, even partially.  She would not hope for a specific outcome, just one that was least as painless as possible, if not happy.  “My place is more on the support side.  My children may become Magical Girls or Knights but I will likely keep to temple duties, not completely without danger.  But less likely to find it than someone like them or my probable future husband.”  She did occasionally deal with demon connected things.  But rarely demons themselves.  Her power was less likely to be good in a fight, but she did usually have Hikaru or others along to keep her safer.  She would hopefully never face what a demon could do to her.
