"Random bad guy shows up and starts breaking shit" is my eternal answer to superheroes. Monsterhearts is teen drama - that doesn't work well here any more and the last game fizzled spectacularly - largely on my watch. im just hoping for the umbrella of powered by the apocalypse, those three i know the best but i was not hoping for them per say... that said without any additonal context neon city blues sounds like a fun synthwave styled thing along the lines of hotline Miami which could be great apocalypse world I would also be fine playing... i just have had mixed success playing in specifically apocalypse styled rpgs on EDs ill try anything once though, which includes the other systems not mentioned 1
WritesNaughtyStories Posted Friday at 11:39 AM Posted Friday at 11:39 AM We'll get a game Powered by the Apocalypse or something related going, we just need to figure out what. I like Apocalypse World - it's very flexible on what the setting is. It just the ruins of a world before - it presumes cars and guns, but those could be recast as almost anything else. What went wrong with your AW games, @DreamsnThings? Just remember, folks, lean into your sex moves... but here you don't have to hide them behind veils. Another thought: Scum and Villainy? Again, it's Forged in the Dark rather than PbtA and I'll have to do some studying, but it's a possibility too. 1

WritesNaughtyStories Posted Friday at 04:40 PM Posted Friday at 04:40 PM What would you want in a post-apocalyptic setting? What would you like to avoid? Actually, let's refine that a bit. What are the hard "No!" things and the "Must Haves"? 1
SataiRolePlayingGuy Posted Friday at 05:25 PM Posted Friday at 05:25 PM Still have not had a chance to look into it enough to give a real vote/suggestions (but might over the next few days, being off today). Whether or not I get a chance to read the material soon enough and want to join in, might help give me more ideas for my kinda apocalypse/horror mix RP club.

Actually, let's refine that a bit. What are the hard "No!" things and the "Must Haves"? im open to anything, the issue came when i had made a character who started play as a sex slave, but within like 3 posts of her introduction she was liberated, and the entire theming of the character was out the window. i basically just want to avoid going for something dark well everyone else goes lighthearted or vise versa... ultimately i want to know where the guard rails are so i can explore an interesting facet of the setting my only hard nos are snuff, piss, scat, etc... ill try mostly anything once, similarly must haves vary a lot with me... usually those might before more on a character to character basis... IE i was big on somnophilia for a while (sleep sex) and themed and entire profile around it on the site i used before ecchidreams 1

I remember that game, I think. It was Neuropa, right? That's not really related to the setting, that's about how events unfolded. I think we can avoid that. If we use Apocalypse World there's no real way to be sedentary and isolated from the other characters. What kind of post apocalyptic world do we want? Mad Max's deserts and roaring engines? The decaying corpse of a high tech domed city, the moldering swamps and flashy swords of something like Into the Badlands or the shambling dead of Atlanta? 1
SataiRolePlayingGuy Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Don’t feel too bound by my opinion at this point, before I am in a better place to decide whether or not to commit. But I figured I would throw my opinion as the city as my favorite, but others could probably be fun. 1

SataiRolePlayingGuy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Been skimming through the 'Apocalypse World Extended Playbooks 2nd edition'. Setting certainly looks interesting, getting the mechanics to stick in my head could take some time (and I'm only part way through it), but yeah, if we go through that and I go in for it, might have an easier time coming up with something here than I was with Cortex.
