Blossoming Flowers (Kari/Toshiro)

Graduation day... Joy...

The car ride to the highschool was one of complete chatter for most. Between a mix of boys and girls it was safe to say there was excitement in the air, energies excited, which further led of jokes and happier attitudes. It was a pretty good day in the city too with cool to slowly colder weather but the cloudless sunny skies made for a warmer feel. Of course, for one individual, it was already annoying to all hell... 

Toshiro East in the passenger seat of a small fucking Hummer Limousine of all things, and for what reason?! Kyouka and Teru's graduation. The eldest brother of the family, Takamo, was a wealthy enough man to easily afford the fancy black and silver trimmed vehicle for a good day or two, and for such a simple occasion. However it was the two aforementioned individuals he was going out of his way to celebrate. With Teru and Kyouka they were graduating with honors and had their foot in the door to get into any college program, between sports, class rep programs, fundraising, and a variety of other shenanigans a high schooler would need for jobs that paid well. 

And unfortunately, Toshiro had to be in the middle of it, he didn't like the attention drawn to him and while the man could've stayed home he chose not to. It'd be a dick move to miss out of his youngest brother's and family friend's graduation. He sighed, tightening and loosening the tie to his black suit with a single hand out of both boredom and annoyance. Finally as they were just a mile out from the school, he gave a side glancing glare at Takamo who was also wearing a suit. The eldest returned a side glance from the driver's seat, his smirk turning into a mischievous smile. 

"You really had to go all out... Why on God's green Earth you did this I'll never understand..." Toshiro mutters leaning his head against his fist. 

Takamo responded on a chipper tone, "C'mon! Brighten up there, sport! After all you shouldn't have made that bet-" 

"From ten years ago, Takamo?! Dude, you hold onto bets and grudges like an old lady with a coupon." Toshiro interjected as the vehicle now entered the confines of the bustling school parking lot. 

And already, Toshiro could feel the attention the group was gaining from other kids and adults that were headed toward the main yard. His third eye definitely didn't help matters given that he could read people, which blows. Sighing, once the vehicle was parked off to the side in the grass, he opened the passenger door with little patience. The man's always been like this, with Toshiro being more no-nonsense and Takamo being a smooth and cheeky dick waffle he was, older of the two always made things more interesting. By interesting, he always seemed to show off or invest in luxury goods, such as the limousine and the suits. 

As the duo exited the vehicle, they opened a door on either side with eleven individuals stepping out in caps and gowns, two of which was Teru who seemed relaxed as ever and Kyouka who was fired up... God please let it be a normal day. Toshiro closed the door after the last Kyouka's friends exited the vehicle and turned to Teru to see the young man already getting impatient. The eldest brother jerked his head signalling for him to go, and of course, off he went quickly with his friends. 

"Lock the car?" Toshiro asked Takamo as the rest of the group went onto join the rest of the graduates. 

Takamo scoffed sarcastically saying, "Me? Lock the car? In this neighborhood?! Why, I never! Yes, I locked it." 

And like that, the pair would start making their way toward the crowd of people and chairs...

Kari was in the school getting ready. She had a long night as her mother and father were busy with work and completely forgot graduation was today. She looked at herself in the school bathroom mirror her make up had ran a bit. No one would watch her walk the stage or cheer for her. She was graduating with honors but nothing to show for it since all the scholarships went to other people. She washed her face looking at herself. She seems so plain compare to rest of students. She had worked very hard after meaning that knight a few months back.

Kari took a deep breathe as she dried her face and redid her light makeup and fixed her brown hair. Her hazel eyes looked so exhausted as she smiled weakly before putting her graduation gown on. She had her cords for her high honors. She had been chosen as the valid victorian to give the speak for graduation. She had it in her dress pocket. She walked outside the light spring breeze making her hair dance behind her with every quite step. She was silently rehearsing her speech in head as she came around to the fornt of the school.

"I can sense a couple Sensitives out here. Surprised there aren't more, but I can hold some comfort that there are a few at least." Takamo said to Toshiro as the two walked together. 

Exhaling that breath of annoyance, Toshiro responded quietly, "Yeah, I know, I also know that it's supposed to be an off day for you. Not a chance to scout out recruits." 

Everyone at this graduation seemed... Normal. Teru and Kyouka were off in their graduate attire, everyone else wore simple dresses or regular clothes and Toshiro? In an expensive ass business suit. Black and sleek, deep red and dark orange striped tie, polished black shoes... Yeah, he really wanted to not stand out from the crowd. But enough bitching about him, on to the event! 

Family members of the graduates were being seated in one section of the stands with Toshiro and Takamo taking their places toward the front. Meanwhile, Kyouka and Teru had already gotten their gown and caps on and started toward the group of other graduates who were ready. The former was busy with trying to get something untied to- Oh. The gown was a little looser now, showcasing less of the blondes rather large cleavage and giving some leeway to not standing out too much.

Teru grinned toward the taller of the pair, "You know, if you'd quit snacking on candy and dairy you wouldn't have those things to carry around." 

Huffing, Kyouka replied, "You know, you'd grow a couple more inches taller if you'd let your balls drop."

"And so it is indeed my day off. I'm actually glad to have it to see my niece and youngest brother graduate," Takamo said quietly placing what looked like a tobacco pouch in his mouth, he eases into his seat and bites down on it oddly enough, "But Toshiro I also gotta look out for any kind of recruit."

Teru felt a little choked up of embarrassment but was able to step back and assess his attitude. Shit, what would Toshiro say? Shrugging like he didn't care, Teru said, "Hey, I'm proud of my acorns, unlike you who looks like every guy on the football team runs a train on."

"Is it really that important?" Toshiro asked his older brother. He understood that yes, it was important to know that others who potentially could be sensitive to magic; let them be potential Knights or Magic-Gals or, "Sorceresses," As he called them, wasn't it better off to let them be and live normal lives? While Toshiro knew it that his family were far from normal he still didn't understand why Takamo had an interest in such things. 

Without knowledge of his little brother, the eldest had already placed the pair in a bubble of magic invisible to the Human eye. This would otherwise prevent outsiders from hearing their conversation but also made it look like they were just waiting for the ceremony to start. Takamo looked up at the sky and couldn't help but give a softer response, knowing Toshiro's blunt and to the point mindset, "Yes... It is important. It's not about trying to recruit anyone let alone getting know like minded people. Think of it this way: we're in a modern world where everything is uncertain, war, civil strife, politics, religious battles, those of us who are gifted have not only that to worry about but also the evils of the paranormal. Demons, daemons, otherworldly entities, the undead, monsters and what have you. But those aren't the biggest threats..."

"Take it back, you little shit!!" Kyouka said with gritted teeth as she had Teru in a ravenous chokehold and was pounding on his head. 

"Oh boy, there she goes beating up another boy..." One girl said exhausted.

Another responded, "C'mon, it's not the first time, didn't she beat up your ex? Coulda swore the guy was stalking you, yeah?" 

"Yeah, true that, but it's graduation day, she could go one day without being pissed off .."

"Magic is not so much dying but being blanketed over, Toshiro. Not quick or even the theory that it'll just stop all at once one day. As time goes on, magic wanes in bloodlines and even in the spirit, save for bloodlines like ours which is still very strong. " Takamo had continued in a solemn tone, spitting out some contents onto the grass. 

Toshiro looked perplexed. To hear his brother say something as negative as that was... Disheartening? Toshiro then looked up at the sky as well asking, "So how's it "dying" or being suppressed? And what does any of this have to do with today?" 

"Well... Today is tied into magic because I think Teru is sterile. Of magic I mean! But what I mean is that the body, mind, and soul have become diluted overtime by the material world. We have to keep our powers concealed most of the time, we can't use it openly in public; can't showcase it, people would get scared, governments would get involved and it can become twisted. But with how much technology there is and how much you have to work, schooling, and online media too, some people who had used magic really lose touch with it after some time because of how much they go without using it. It goes dormant or in a few rare cases, it just vanished." 

Toshiro was trying to gauge the words of Takamo, weighing them and adjusting everything into specified order. He had no clue someone could lose their powers like that, and he replied, "And with the rising number of monsters popping up, I can see why it's scary." 

"Yeah. Slowly but surely I'm seeing magic altogether starting to just fade, I mean sure we have thousands of not a few million Knights and Sorceresses, but give it a hundred years? That number gets cut in half. Look I know it doesn't matter to you, but all I ask is you constantly practice it, yes keep your powers a secret from the general public but continue to train with it." 

Toshiro was silent for a solid minute before conclusively answering with, "Yeah... Alright, you got it, man. But uhh... God what the hell is taking them so long? You figured-" 

"Welcome everyone to the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026!" A woman announced over a microphone on a large wooden stage ahead.

Kair took a deep breathe back stage her speech in her hands. She knew today was important and she knew everyone excited to graduate but there she was alone on her graduation day. She could hear the talking of the students and the parents that gathered. She could hear the district leaders giving the students praise for coming this far and pumping them up for their valid Victorian to speak. 

The district president smiled and cleared her throat. "Now without further ado this year valid victorian Kair Kamisato.Give her a big hand everyone." She said clapping her hands smiling as Kair walked out in her graduation cap and grown as she walked up to podium putting on speech down.

How could one forget that annoying voice. God, what he'd do to not hear it again. 

Toshiro's impatience grew when the district president was going on and on however she finally announced the valid victorian. An lo and behold it was a particular girl Toshiro had run into a short time ago. Kari, that's a nice name, the man watched as the girl drabbed in the usual graduation gown. Huh... Cute. That was the thought bubble he had as Kari made her way up to the podium to deliver her little speech. Not too far was the group of graduates who were waiting for the word to retrieve their diplomas and awards and whatnot... 

Holy hell, Toshiro kind of forgot the things they do here. Diplomas... Scholarships? Scholarships. 

Toshiro could feel Takamo pop the bubble that kept them camouflage to a quietly waiting pair, with the older brother giving the younger a raised brow and and smirk. Please don't. Takamo was about to say something a bit coy but instead shrugged and chose not to. Already he knew that the younger brother and that girl on the podium had met which... Invoked a sense of pride? That was when Takamo whispered to Toshiro, "So I see you're out and about. Gotta say, thought you'd die a virgin." 

Toshiro responded, "Yeah? Turn that thought into a belief, bitch. Nothing's going on."

Kair smiled as she began. "Hello and welcome family, friends and students. I am proud to be looking into the eyes of my fellow graduates knowing they have all accomplished something great today and will continue to accomplish great things in the future. Yes the road ahead might be rough but I know every one of us will tackle whatever comes our way with strength, kindness, elegance and most of all pride. Not just pride for our work but for who we are as a person. I hope as you reflect today and maybe even in the next couple of weeks always remember the mistakes you made, the challenges you faced, the friends you made because those memories have shaped you into what you are today. So without further ado maybe you enjoy today with all your heart and soul and celebrate your school pride one last time." Kair smiled before she bowed.

Oh geez, what a drag... The lady next to me is crying? 

Toshiro listened to Kari and after she finished her speech the crowd clapped loudly. The district president stepped back up into the podium announcing that they would be announcing diplomas and scholarships, between all of that mess Toshiro looked over to Takamo who was between texting on his phone and looking up to see which students were next. He was waiting for Teru and Kyouka who seemed to be toward the back of whatever waiting lift. The middle brother sighed and leaned back against his seat, looking toward Kari again in thought. 

Finally, Kyouka announced, being given a diploma with several scholarships read out to multiple schools in the medical field. Lucky. She worked her ass off for those grades ever since she was a little girl, to see his adopted sister receive high honors included kind of made Toshiro proud of her. And then there was Teru... Who was best up. Poor boy looked like he got his face thrashed, he took his diploma and was named for several scholarships... Abd gave a sad thumbs up. He mozied his way offstage and went to sulk behind some of his friends who'd already went, Toshiro looked to Kyouka who seemed to be beaming and upon reading her; she indefinitely was happy of her graduation, scholarships and honors, and ass whipping she delivered to Teru. 

"For the love of God, you figured they'd grow up, those two." Toshiro muttered. 

Takamo smirked and said, "Yeah but Kyouka needs an outlet and Teru's only gonna agitate her. Kinda balances it out if you ask me." 

Shrugging did Toshiro and Takamo stand with the rest of the crowd to clap and cheer. He was glad that this was about over- Oh God- Not the fucking after-party!!! Toshiro dreaded being stuck with his little brother, well, not so much Teru but his stupid little friends. And unfortunately Kyouka's little coven of witches would be ogling him. The eldest of the three brothers had made plans for everyone he knew to go out for a day and enjoy themselves, all expenses paid, and a lot of activities ahead. Really he just wanted to eat and go home... But then again, he couldn't pass up on an opportunity.

Kari had gotten her diploma and a fully paid scholarship to the collage of her choice. A faint smiled came to her face but then as she saw the celebration drawing to close, she saw students going to their families. Kari sadly looked down standing near the exit. Her mother was to busy with work and her father was to. So she was alone on one of the most important days of her life. She looked around seeing the smiling faces of her classmates and their families telling them how proud they were. She turned away to leave not knowing Toshiro was here and saw her graduate.

"You could always ask her to come along." Takamo gave Toshiro a side glance with a sly grin. 

Sonofabitch. Toshiro returned with his own side glance obviously looking annoyed. The younger brother didn't need to be acting like a prick but at the same time he gets up in arms when his eldest tends to get up in his business. It really wasn't Takamo's business, but... Then again, he had a point. It'd be a nice gesture and for a way to make a new friend, hell he already had friends, but with everyone working and having opposite schedules it was rare to hang out. 

Takamo frowned, "C'mon man, you can't be antisocial all the time. Would you rather be stuck with Kyouka and Teru? Or actually have someone that won't piss you off as much?" 

That... Was a good point. Toshiro could comfort around Kari, she seemed a tad gentle, sweet even, it was a stark contrast to the chaotic life he lived with Takamo, Teru, and Kyouka. Finally growing a pair, Toshiro begun making his way toward the girl heart pounding. As he walked he could feel his throat start to dry, his hands grow clammy, and his mind lingering elsewhere to potential outcomes. Mentally Toshiro steeled himself as he approached Kari with a large version of himself bullying that weaker individual called fear. 

"So..." Toshiro announced with a sly smirk just a mere five feet from the girl, "Either I somehow spaced it in our last conversation, or you didn't say you were Ad Victoriam."

Kari turned around as she blushed seeing Toshiro. "Ah Hello again Toshiro." She said moving some hair behind her ear. "Well after our last conversation I decided to apply myself more and I got my grades up and took some collage classes and well things turned around. I didn't know you'd be here. It's nice to know someone I know was here." She said with a soft smile. "So how have you been since our last meeting?" She asked her cute sun dress hugging her curves and her simple hairstyle tying it all together.

"Meh, more or less "cleaning up" around the streets if you catch my drift.  Beyond that I've been doing whatever, between the job I got and finding a hobby, it's been mild." Toshiro responded in kind, being more nonchalant but his intense gaze becoming just slightly softer. 

In contrast to Kari's dress, Toshiro's suit was fitted perfectly to his form. It was not tight but lightly hugged his body and his biceps somewhat strained against the sleeves. He couldn't help how Kari's outfit- No! Focus! Adjusting his collar slightly Toshiro also had to readjust his thoughts to what he was originally was over here for. He's had these stirred feelings before but that was a long, long time ago. 

Clearing his throat, Toshiro would continue, "It's my brother's and friend's graduation day as well. Speaking of which... My family had planned for a graduation after-party, dining, mall stuff- I guess- And other activities. I came over here to see if you'd be alright with joining us, have a bit of fun before that thing called adulting kicks you in the ass."

She had so many thoughts running through her head. His muscles were so sexy in that suit. Her heart racing thinking about his muscles being used on her. She bit her lower lip before shaking her head and coming back to reality. "But congratulations to your brother and his friend. Also I understand the hmmmm... "Cleaning up the streets."Her sun dress seemed to bring out her eyes.

Everything's paid for by everyone's favorite jackass," Toshiro jerked a thumb back to Takamo who happened to look at Kari, giving a smirk before a slight wave, "And I don't mind paying costs either. My treat, besides, I'd rather have a "burden" than not have anyone at all." 

Toshiro really wanted to tell Kari to quit sounding a fuckin' idiot as soon as she referred to herself as a burden. But he didn't want to be all offensive and scare the girl off. With everything said he wouldn't have offered if he thought Kari was really a burden, but then again he didn't want to cuss her either so he kept it polite. He really hated when people call themselves a burden, something about it gets under his skin. 

Shoving that to the back of his mind, Toshiro regarded Kari again, "So... You up?"

Kari blushed softly as put some hair behind her ear. She saw Takamo smirk and then wave lightly as she waved lightly back. She wondered if he was related to Toshiro. "I'd love to join. Thank you for the invitation Toshiro. It means alot to me, since my parents are to busy to be here today." She said holding her diploma before taking a step closer and kissing his cheek. She took a step back her face becoming a bit redder after kissing his cheek.
