Species: Florasian

Species Type: Humanoid

Original Homeworld: Leuruca

Florasians are a species of humanoid beings that evolved from plants. While they appear humanlike when exposed to sunlight their skin turns green as they are able to photosynthesize in the sunlight. Florasian's need daily photosynthesis in order to survive besides eating and breathing. Because of this need all ship in the alliance come with Photogenesis chambers. These chambers emit a light that can be used for florasians to use photosynthesis with. They also can absorb most types of radiation which can provide some level of photosynthesizing ability as well, but it is typically most efficient to use the chambers or direct sunlight.

To florasians they commonly undress completely when using the photogenesis chamber or specifically when photosynthesizing. This is so they can make use of the most surface area for producing the most nutrients possible. Photosynthesis is also considered a social interaction similarly to how people would eat together.

Florasians being a plant species have a floral scent to them. Each florasian has a unique scent specifically to them.  Female florasians produce a stronger scent when aroused to act as a pheromone to attract partners.

When florasians mate with they actually are able to breed with a wide variety of species. Females will produce a child that is full florasian but will share some physical characteristics of the father. While for males they just give dna to their female partner and the child will be the same species of the mother.

Florasians can have any color as a natural hair color and eye colors, typically their hair color and eye color match but it is not a hard fast rule.

Species: Viri metallum

Species Type: amorphous set of nanomachines, typically structured together as a humanoid

Original Homeworld: Griseo Mundi (formally jecati)

Viri metallum are an odd case, even in the infinite expanse of the cosmos. At an initial passing glance one could mistake them as a silvery blue cousin to the common homosapien. However upon further observation it becomes clear that this appearance is an simply an attempt to reduce friction with other sentient races. The true form of the viri metallum is closer to a puddle, composed primarily of cell sized nanomachines that have achieved a level of sentience and collective independence. The viri metallum are all able to restructure their forms at will, and have a tendency towards curiosity, intelligence, and efficiency. This leads many of the species to work as ship mechanics due to their high level of knowledge, versatile nature, and ability to fix issues in even the tightest of spaces.

All viri metallum can trace back their origins to Griseo Mundi, a large silvery planet composed entirely of a non sentient version of the material that makes up the matviri metallum. It is generally accepted that an early precursor civilization ended up creating the... "ancestors" of the viri metallum, with that early version leading to what is known as a "grey goo scenario"... consuming all avalable material on the planet. Eventually the "grey goo" managed to reprogram itself, either through a glitch in its code, a preprogrammed learning algorithm, or some other outside force. Resulting in the non violent  viri metallum. Today Griseo mundi is close to a resort world, capable of building any structure within moments to accommodate the requests of its visitors... often taking knowledge as its payment.

Species: Animalis Mutatio

Species type: Anthropomorphic - They are a race of beings that resemble animals from Earth - Sol System cluster. However, they have the ability to shift from their animal form to a more humanoid one at will.

Original Home world: Gaia - Orion cluster.

All Gaians are born in an animal form but around 12/14 years of age (Young adult status for them) they go through a ceremony of adulthood so they can change from animal into a humanoid form. During the ceremony they are exposed to high levels of a special pheromone that triggers their "fight/flight" response and thus forces their body to change. There have been rare cases where some induvials are unable to gain this ability due to an high tolerance towards the pheromone used. If this happens they are given two options; Stay in their animal form or be subjected to a dangerous level of the pheromone.

Classification: There are "predator" and "prey" types.

Predator = Wolf/Lion/Etc.

Prey = Hamster/Rabbit/Etc.

Sub-groups: There are serval sub-groups of this species. (Much like the humans have "British White and Irish White." Or "African and African American.")

Feline - [Large] Lion/Tiger/Panther/Snow Leopard/Etc. [Small] Siamese/Bombay/Maine coon/Tabby/Etc.
Canine -  [Large] Wolf/Fox/Jackle/Dingo/Etc. [small] German Shepard/Labrador/Dalmatian/Etc.
Lagomorpha - Rabbit/Hare/Pika
Rodent - Rat/Mouse/Capibara/Chinchilla/Ect.

And so on.

Reproduction:

Both predator and prey types can reproduce with one another but they often stick to their own sub group. They can also reproduce with the same gender but it is rare to do so. There are currently no records of them reproducing outside of their own species.

Species: Chimera (Homo Artificius)

Species Type: Anthropomorphic

Original Homeworld: Earth

At the height of Humanity’s growth, the planets of Sol were in a golden age. Technological advancement had resulted in wonders for science and the human race. Among them, the development of gene-splicing. The insertion of animalistic traits into humans through manipulation of human DNA. Unfortunately, this technology was reserved for only the most wealthy of humans. The technology’s subsequent ban in the following decade left the descendants of these modified humans in an awkward place. Able to reproduce, but numbering in the hundreds and with dozens of subtypes. Gene splicing remained illegal, but the products of gene-splicing became a minority in human society. Given their wide range of subtypes and subspecies, they slowly took on the name ‘Chimera’.

Chimera are a race of humans entirely modified from human DNA, to emulate species on Earth. Unlike the unrelated species Animalis Mutatio, Chimera are unable to change their form, and the traits they emulate from animals are often limited compared to the species they are based on. Chimera are able to mate with humanoids, but there is an informal agreement not to mate with other Chimera of different subtypes, for fear of creating inviable offspring.

Species: Sophan (Homo Sophos) (Informally known as Elves)

Species Type: Humanoid

Original Homeworld: Luna (Earth’s Moon)

The first human modification undergone by humanity, the Sophans were crafted as a physically ideal human race, allowing them to better colonize other planets in Earth and beyond. With an indeterminate lifespan, the Sophans could learn multiple fields of science, making them capable astronauts and settlers. With their ability to suppress the need for food and sleep, they could go without for weeks on end. And their attractive appearance were certain to insure they would reproduce readily.

The Sophans are an uncommon race among the humans, but are frequently seen in enclaves on colony missions. Often manning cryostations or excelling in academic fields. Sophans, though a separate species, are capable of interbreeding with other humanoids. While female Sophans may ovulate only on command, male Sophans have a reputation for being highly virile. Sophan breast milk is considered a luxury good, and Sophan semen is said to have rejuvenating properties, and is rumored to be found in many skincare products.

Species: Ark Cybernoid

Species Type: Varies, Cybernetic

Homeworld:  Not Applicable

Cybernoids are androids created by cybernetically enhanced beings. The Cybernoids were designed for the purpose of aiding passengers and officers aboard the Arks and in the future when settling a colony. Typically in order to make a cybernoid extensive surgical operations are made to the individuals internal structure. However since this process would be extremely painful to an individual it was decided that they would use the bodies of officers who have died recently as they would not have been dead long enough for neural pathways to degrade, so they can use them with the cybernetic implants. As such this means that a cybernoid can be from any species.

Cybernoids typically have access to the computer systems remotely. However some processes  require direct connection and thus they have been installed with a hidden connector cable hidden in their left arm. This allows for direct connection to the computer of the ark and of other alliance systems for data transfer, diagnostics, and other needs.

Cybernoids have 4 blue dots on their  back. This is for when they need to recharge, the blue dots show where the power cable connects to magnetically so that power can be transferred to their battery pack. Cybernoids due to the mechanical implants are extremely heavy and thus have a gravimetric stabilizer in them that reduces how much they are affected by gravity and thus makes it so they weigh less.

Even though a cybernoid is made from the corpse of someone else they do not retain the memories of the consciousness that in habited the body before them. And bodies used for this project are usually those of officers who chose to have their bodies donated for this purpose. However due to their design cybernoids do retain the ability to develop emotions although alot usually have more robotic personalities.

Also being partially biological cybernoids still have genitalia and full functional reproductive organs and can even have children. However normally this is controlled by an internal setting which typically remains inactive except in emergencies or if it is deemed to be needed. Cybernoids have been altered to be able to sexually reproduce with almost every species in the alliance. Cybernoids do not require oxygen to breath, or food to digest, although they can still do these functions.

Species: Void PIlgrims / Star Chosen

Species Type: Humanoid

Brief Summary: A technologically advanced species of nomadic zealots adapted to the vacuum of space but pathetic on planets, or on ships with artificial gravity.

Physical Description:

The consequences of a lack of, or inconsistent gravity leads to the Void Pilgrims coming in all shapes and sizes from tall, wiry silhouettes and short squat dwarf-like figure. They share in a similar dark tone of skin, ranging from greys to blues to purples to blacks in colour – and sometimes multiple colours on one person. As a result of their many adaptations, pilgrims are exceptionally light compared to humans of the same size, often less than half the expected weight. While not a genetic characteristic, near every pilgrim, even those that do not follow the faith will tattoo each star they visit onto their body, turning their flesh into a tapestry which maps their journey across the stars. Additionally, when navigating oxygenated environments, the Star Chosen must use special built masks to protect themselves. Exposure is not immediately fatal, but ten minutes in the air would cause unconsciousness and twenty minutes later likely death.

History/Myth:
Eons ago, the ancestors of the Void Pilgrims are said to have inhabited a lush ocean world known only now as the Cradle. There are many tales of what happened to the Cradle, but all the ancient religious stories have one common theme. The Pilgrims were cast out from the cradle after failing in their duty as caretakers and left to the vacuum of space. Priests would tell you that the Stars took pity on the Void Pilgrims and granted them the ability to survive without an atmosphere, scientists might suggest that brutally intense genetic engineering might more accurately explain their adaptation. But the ancient civilization these creatures hailed from is just a story these days, only confirmed by the occasional scraps of impossible technology found in the husks of destroyed Pilgrim ships.  Now the Star Chosen are a nomadic race, travelling in ramshackle ships and trading lost wonders for their survival. Some are pirates, some are scavengers, lots are zealots venerating the Stars and some are heretics who dream of colonizing a planet of their own. When news spread of unrest in the Alliance home worlds, the religious caste declared it the duty of Star Chosen to use their knowledge of the stars to guide the groundwalkers to their destined home – wherever that might be. These days PIlgrims are few and far between, but a notable fraction came to the Ark Colonyship to aid in its journey.

Specialization:

Void pilgrims can survive in the vacuum of space, this means they utilize extensive anaerobic respiration and do not require oxygen to survive. They are also near immune to radiation and are highly resistant to extreme hots and colds. As a side effect they can survive underwater without difficulty, however dependent on gravity these areas can be extremely difficult to move in. The relationship between the pilgrims and water is strange, simultaneously a holy symbol of their lost home world and a grim reminder of their failure to protect it. Adapted to zero gravity environments, they traverse them dexterously through space as if a monkey swinging through the trees of the jungle. Void Pilgrims have been blessed with almost an expected five-hundred-year natural life expectancy, but any who live past three hundred are expected to live the last of their days as priests. Almost all the Star Chosen, even those which have not been specially trained are capable tinkers and familiar with vast amounts of technology, it is simply a part of life on a Pilgrim ship.
Unfortunately, their specialization has left them vulnerable to many common conditions.  Their strange alternative to breathing leaves them extremely vulnerable to oxygen and air, given enough they can drown like a human underwater. Their adaptation to zero gravity makes life on planets and artificial gravity environments unbearable, they are hilariously weak, slow and overexert themselves comically easily. Void Pilgrim culture is also highly religious and superstitious, leading to Pilgrims often becoming remarkably unhelpful due to inexplicable poor omens. This superstition is doubly true regarding technology, any item or process must be approved by a priest before it can be utilized. Often the priesthood waits to pass judgement and during this period the technology is banned from use by pilgrims, however if the cult believes an item to be like technology that caused the collapse, it is rebuked and must be destroyed. To be branded as in defiance of the holy law is a death sentence for Pilgrims, although other species are not expected to follow these dictates.
