Of course. I think I have a character or two I could apply to this roleplay. The only catch is that they're both furry characters. (And they're both engineers.)

Well, I thought some people might like to have characters like that, so I have two options you can do to make your character a Furry that would fit in the character guidelines this story has.

One they can be a Alien race or two, they can be a human that has undergone Were Enhancement, a procedure that is offered to all people joining the BlackStar Crew and to people during the long war on earth where animal DNA is mixed with your character’s human one, giving the person the abilities of that animal. But the risk of that enhancement is that the changes to a person’s body is random, making them have very little change to their body, like having beast like ears or eyes, or the their bodies could change drastically, with the animal side becoming more prominent and making the character look like a Furry.

And them both being engineers is not a problem.

I have some ideas, there was specifically an alien race i had considered making gor other reasons a while back that i thought would be fun to make here since i saw we could make our own species for the natives of this planet

Go for it. I would love to see your idea and any other ones you have.

The original idea was a race of rabbit folk who were banned from space travel due to their extreme reproductive capabilities

At some point they evolved an extremely short adaption period from generation to generation, DNA thats sexually compatible with nearly any other species, and a reproduction cycle that favors eggs despite being a mammal. This is all combined together with their extremely stretchy/accommodating bodies that developed after their evolution briefly focused on a "bigger is better" approach leading to the males having cocks that are oversized compared to their size, well the females evolved to take massive insertions, with a bone structure that can safely unhinge or be dislocated and a vagina that can be comfortably stretched 5~10 times its original size with minimal discomfort.

Tldr: a species of rabbit folk who can breed with nearly anything that are considered an invasive sentient species if they ever leave their planet

That all said i would need to adapt them pretty heavily if i want them to work in this setting i believe, and would need a hand for that

I mean, I use a star ocean approach and I think about any "alien" is fine. They are clearly not humans to say the least. Here's one example of character I'd like to use:

That works perfectly if you want to make them a alien race that were enslaved by the Aliens that attacked earth and were freed by humans after the war.

Thinking I'm taking a back seat to world building. I'll still throw out ideas from time to time as they come up but I'm in a few projects already. And if you don't mind I'd like to transfer my three characters if that is alright with y'all.

If I trust "Trials in tainted space" anyway, it should be fine. But I might use my other one who is a wolf girl. I had a question, though. I saw that there are bots available in the crew? Like... cyborg? Android? What kind of bots are they? I read about them in the descriptions I've seen of them but not sure I really understand them. I'm just really poking for information right now to see what best character I can make for myself in this club. (At least one to begin with for the time being, at any rates then I'll see, in time.)

I've seen some about were-beast or whatever but it seemed more like semi humans or not sure. The random skills from animals felt a little different from what I was looking for.

The bots that the you can play as characters are living, alien, bio-mechanical beings created by a single one, a Queen or Mother of sorts, that was rescued by humans from the aliens that invaded earth. The Queen bot started to work with humans out of gratitude, creating Bio-Mechanical bots, or Bio Bots as they are nicknamed, to aid humans in the defense and rebuilding of earth as well as the exploration of deep space.

In the case of the BlackStar, the Queen bot put a small part of herself on the ship to be able to create new Bio Bots as is needed on the crew. You can make a Bot character that was made already before the BlackStar took off or one later after they land and start exploring. As for what the Bot are, they are like transformers, made of living metal and synthetic material, but can mimic human tissue in feel and look to a degree. So basically you find a Robot image you like you can make it into a Bio Bot Character, even if they look almost human or completely mechanical.

And Weres on the BlackStar crew are normal human that received a genetic treatment that mixed one thing of Animal DNA of your choosing with their human one. Since the process is new and messing with genetics is risky and unpredictable, the human that received the treatment can get the abilities of the animal, like a spiders ability to climb walls or a wolfs enhanced senses, but their body will change. The amount that it will change is random, the person maybe only growing wolf ears and a tail or becoming a full on Wolf/Human hybrid, looking like a werewolf or wolf Furry. It is up to you to decide on how much you want your character to change with the treatment.

Hope that clears some things up for you and if not, let me know.

Welll, it's funny that you mention that because, well... I don't know how to explain it but I think my image will make it self explanatory. It's not that I want to use that character but just really seeing my possibilities. For the record, it's not her final look but simply a demo of how she's built. She is fully mechanical in a sort of way but advanced:

Thank you for explaining. If I were to make a character on that side, I might just really do some alien character instead of a modified human. I'll still consider the information if I had to use a kemonomimi. For now, I miiight use my wolf girl if nothing else works. The robot above is an attempt at gauging what works or what doesn't in the story's context.

This idea and look would fit perfectly for a Bio Bot character as they the Queen Bot can make them have almost any form she wants to. If you want to make that your character, go for it. Just remember that while Bio Bot are made to fill roles on the ship, so what role you pick for your character to do on the BlackStar crew, she would have abilities to do the job well.

For example, if you picked Security Specialist, you Bot could be able to scan a small area around her for life signs or transform a body part into a weapon.

The one above is an "Array Relay Admin" in her own world. Whatever it means (Those who know ARA knows, anyway XD) But yes, I'm not sure what bots do exactly for roles. I tried to find a post for it but I'm not really seeing it so do you have any ideas for roles? Just so I can get an idea of where she could fit. In her case, she seems like a communication bot or something.

Hello, all. : ) Don't mind me dropping in unannounced, still reading and getting a feel for the setting here. I enjoy sci-fi stints, so wasn't hard for me to commit, but gonna take some time to read up on things and try to foster a better understanding of the idea!

One preliminary question though: Are crew spots on a 'first come, first serve' basis? Or do some allow for more applicants on account of the kind of work that might be expected of them?

The bots can do anything the other crew members can do, like being a Engineer, Medic, Security or anything else that I put as a position for a crew member to fill on the BlackStar.

Thank you for joining and I hope you enjoy your time here. As for your question, the only spots that are first come, first serve are roles that are for a single person, them being the Captain/Commander role(Which I have filled), Second in Command/Second Commander, Third in Command/Third Commander or the Role of the Mother Bot on the Ship. The rest are open for multiple people to do the same roles in.

All of these roles remind me SS13 a little. The fun of just being a space crew but there were these roles that only had one spot and I never wanted to land on them (thankfully there was a setting to avoid it rolling them). These unique roles feel WAY too important for me and I'd be afraid of simply messing it up. (Especially since they usually hold the entire thing together)

I don't think there's any reason to feel as concerned now. : ) I was worried for a similar reason initially, but once I heard that a lot of the roles can have some overlap, it just vanished. I saw you were interested in Engineers earlier, so I think you're totally in the clear for it!

Meanwhile I was considering some overlap between a Co-Pilot and a Security Specialist. I never felt audacious enough to try to take a very important role from people who might feel more fitting for it.

Oh no, engineer was a favorite thing of mine even in SS13. Being the one who restarts the core engine of the ship (without spreading a black hole all over the ship) was insanely fun. And I was good at it. But commander in chief (unique role) still had a much bigger responsibility and I'm not good at leading big things. Same reason I wouldn't take the mother bot either. x.x

Ahh, so that's what's up. >.< Believe me, I understand where the wariness is coming from. Still, from the little I've been following the topic, I see you and others have been coming up with fun ideas, either here or carried over from the previous version. I don't know what you'll end up making, but I hope you have as much fun with the creation process as I am right now. xD

I already uploaded a wolf girl of mine and hesitates to now officially record her here. It's not a character I ever used but I might just do it. I think we can have more than one character anyway so nothing says I can't have another one later if the roleplay goes well. I'm mostly gauging things and when I'm curious, I usually ask lot of questions or talk a lot. XD Bad habit.
