Forbidden Magic - Elven Witches: SataiRolePlayingGuyxAirAllie14xWarning

Recommended Posts

Mao came back soon after, bringing her washing tools with her to begin on the room right away. Using of magic and soapy water, she was capable of scrubbing the altar without damaging it to erase the blood and any dirt left behind. It would even only take a moment to finish, leaving the altar wet but clean, ready to dry off on its own with time. Discarding her tools thereafter, Mao looked at the two others and eyed the nude but dead girl, staring at the scar a bit. The sight would make her look away, seemingly bothered by the sight somewhat. Not too long after, she would teleport herself away again, this time to find clothes for her, which should not be too hard to do in a place with many witches.

She had memorized her size or about and decided to simply take something for her from inside the fortress, where she could find them. After Mao finally reappeared again in the altar room, she offered to Alenia a small pile of clothes that would dress up the girl from head to toes, minus shoes. Only soft clothes were offered from where she could find them. Her eyes however made sure not to look at the girl while she was holding the clothes in front of her for the young witch to pick them up. "H-here. This is what I could find. They should work for her."

Pelintira was a little surprised at Mao's discomfort.  She would not probably be uncomfortable with everything Alenia would be taught, but there might be other things that would be difficult for her.  She was sure both could handle it.  "Yes, value it.  Take care of it.  It may be without a soul, appear almost like a doll.  But there is nothing wrong with treating it well...your connection to it may be stronger than you think.  Consider this another lesson, though you won't understand what I mean immediately."  She did not intend to elaborate at the moment.  Alenia would figure out what she meant later.  It might become a shock, but perhaps it would please her in time.  It was something Pelintira wanted to do more research into as well.

Alenia nodded along with Pelintira’s words. She would remember them. She would always treat the girl as she I trusted her to. She wanted to be respectful of the person who gave her like for her. When Mao returned, Alenia would begin to clean the girl’s body. She could have easily done it with magic but instead chose to clean her with the water and a cloth, finding it better this way. Once done, she looked at the clothes Mao brought and nodded softly, “thank you,”’she told her and began to dress the girl in them.

Mao waited that Alenia would be finished so her hands were free, as she thought about something that Pelintira said to her student. Once she was done with dressing her up, Mao moved back, being a little more comfortable in front of a covered body, a thing she was only really uncomfortable with for personal reasons. Something that didn't really matter right now, anyway. She just didn't really like it but also she did her best to not question anything about it as it was not really her place to do so. For the time being, there was something else on her mind.

Using a small bit of magic, Mao brought out before them from seemingly nowhere a kind of ball of soft light, moving oddly with spiritual energy. It looked more or less alive but any good magic eye would know what it is, especially coming from her. "Mistress... I still have her soul, if you have a use for it.", she simply said, wanting to show it to them visually. The catgirl knew the importance of a soul in some magic spell or even alchemy. The fact that the dead girl was currently without soul may or not be an issue. Her collecting it made sure it was being preserved.

Yes, the soul.  What to do with that?  Pelintira did not have a use for it, herself.  But it did still have a purpose or a potential one.  “…It is my life’s work.  A goal of mine…”. She said softly to Mao.  “True resurrection, reunion of body and soul.  Perhaps these two will one day united.”  An Elf did not grown, did not fear death from age or sickness.  Though they could still fall in battle, or from other violence or disaster.  To escape death of that sort.  It was one of the few great mysteries she was still studying.

”But that soul may be more drawn to Alenia…”.  She observed.  “She is not in danger…but she may become more connected to the girl than she realizes.”  Pelintira was not going to get much more specific than that.  The girl’s body, even her soul, might develop a connection to Alenia.  “Keep the soul.  Though I suspect it does not intend to move on.  I’m curious to see what it does.”  Alenia truly was not in danger, but she might eventually be in for quite a surprise.

Alenia would blink as she watched Mao pull out the ball of light. Her eyes were wide as she looked at it. It looked so magical, so out of this world. She would listen in as Alenia would confirm that it was the soul of the girl she had just killed but she would blink at her other comments.

“D-Drawn to me…? W-what do you mean by that mistress?” She wasn’t scared as Pelintira said she would not be in danger but still she was curious.

Mao had listened carefully to what she was told, learning how seemingly important this soul had been to at least one of them. She just knew she has to protect it for the time being. She could always summon it back later for if they ever needed it. As Mao was told to keep it for now, the cat nodded and sealed the soul in a crystalized form before she sent it back to where she had summoned it from. Afterwards, her eyes shifted to the body, making her wonder what that body could do to Alenia. The power of death was as strong as life itself, being two very opposites. If the dead was to attack the young witch while she was vulnerable, it would not be very good. Hopefully, things were under control.

Mao did not quite understand either why the soul would be attracted to Alenia and that made her curious as well. Well, it probably would not be while it was in her hands but even souls could have strange behaviors. For now, she looked toward Pelintira for an answer.

Pelintira was trying to only tell that stuff to Mao.  Her curious little apprentice certainly had an elf’s ears.  “Let that be a surprise.  Maybe you will find it out in a day or two.  Your body.  Her body.  Her soul.  There is a link.”  She walked over to the body.  Pat its head.  “Her mind is not completely gone either.  It does not think like we do anymore. But it has…potential.”  There were a number of possibilities there.  Some that could come naturally, others through different sorts of magic.  “Maybe someday something more drastic can be done with it.  But, we have to see about that.”  She was going to continue to be elusive.  She wanted what was coming to be a surprise for Alenia.  It would be an interesting one.

Alenia blinked as nothing Pelintira had said seemed to give her a straightforward answer. She would sigh a little at this but looked over at the body as well. She began to become even more curious by her words. Wheat did she mean? Did she and the girl really have a bond? It seemed like she would have to find out, she would have to wait first before she received her answer.

Mao looked surprised at the explanations given even if not directed at her. She was curious about what that body could do but otherwise, it was now Alenia's businesss to deal with. She, in her case, had done what she was supposed to and even cleaned the room a little for it to be ready for next time. As the catgirl was eyeing at the young witch, she figured that this magic would not be all that peaceful and easy to manage. It would surely be interesting to see what comes out of it but it was not Mao's business, the catgirl preferring to leave for now.

"Mistress, I'll be going to attend other business... Please call if you need me and I'll be right there.", she said, giving a last look at the body then at Alenia, remembering when both of them hugged in times of need however this certainly didn't look required right now. Unless anything else was needed from her, Mao would take her leave, teleporting away with her magic and leaving the both of them be for now.

“You are free to do as you wish, Mao.  You as well, Alenia.  It will be a while before I teach you anything else.  For now, practice controlling the body, getting used to having its presence.  Hopefully it being in your room will not make sleep difficult.”  Pelintira was not going to rush lessons.  One step at a time.  Alenia would eventually learn much more, but it would take some time.  She had plenty to learn already.  “…If you wish to try to strengthen the connection.  Do what you already did.”  The body’s organs had stopped, but the the spell preserved it in the moment of death.  It still had a finite amount of blood inside.  Alenia could draw more later, if she thought it would help.  But it was up to her.

Alenia would nod at Pelintira. She looked over at the body and would pick it up into her arms. She looked back to the head witch saying, “understood mistress, I will take this body back to my room, keep it hidden and keep practicing controlling it,” she told the older self and soon she was vanish, using a teleportation smell to go back to her room as it woukd be the safest option and no one would see the girl in her hands.

Once back to the room, she rested the girl’s body onto a chair. It would be a little weird sleeping with her body there but she could get used to it. For now she decided to keep practicing moving it, and learning to make the movements smoother.

Meanwhile, Mao did as she said while trying to forget some of what happened back in that room, having teleported to another part of the fortress and patrolled around to see if she could make herself useful to anyone. She particularly liked to check the library whenever she was free and it sometimes happened that she was approached by curious others who wanted to see her from closer or even touch her, which she reluctantly allowed before continuing her business. Like students there, Mao had the habit to check out books for information or for curiosity.

This time, while flying away, she noticed a small bottle on a table. It was not like one she usually had seen before. A red liquid bottle with a heart sticker on it. The purpose could be more or less obvious, considering what it showed but still, it made the catgirl question herself about who put it, or rather, who left it there as there was not anybody around who seemed to care about it. Shaking her head gently, Mao picked it up to go put it somewhere else in case someone would have the funny idea to drink its content without knowing what it was. Then she moved on.

After she was done patrolling and putting this mysterious bottle away, Mao went back to finish some tasks before she would finally take a rest in her own bed, magically discarding her clothes where nobody would see her without them anyway. She would relax for now until she was needed or otherwise until she would go see Pelintira later again, to see if the legendary witch would have anything for her to accomplish then.

Pelintira returned to her private chambers.  Where her most secret materials, books and artifacts were kept.  She had to consider Alenia would likely see these someday now.  She passed the first test.  Would she pass the next?   Pelintira had some guess of what was coming, but even she was not certain.  Alenia had to be prepared for surprises of course.  That was why she said nothing.  Alenia could find out how she would handle a big surprise, one that had no danger of harming her.

Where would this go?  How far would Alenia go?  In time would she have a true partner.  Perhaps not ever a true equal, with the vast gap between them, but maybe more than a simple apprentice someday.

She walked over to one of her trophies as she considered this.  Something like Alenia’s new project but on a higher scale.  A demon body, large, powerful, stood bound by a magic circle.  A demon could not be killed quite like a mortal but…it?…it was hard to call the creature male or female, it had its mind destroyed, essentially zombified.  It did not react as she approached, but she still kept in the circle to be extra safe.  She just liked to admire it from time to time.  Of course none of the apprentices had seen it yet.

Alenia had continued to work and practice with the zombies body of the girl she had killed. She had leaned to move it much more smoother than before but for now, she had decided to finish up for the day. She would sit the body down onto a chair in her room and for into her bed. The girl looked so strange, like a life sized doll in her bed, but that description was not even wrong to call the girl, it was exactly what she was. A doll, a puppet for her to use. She shook away the thoughts and began to close her eyes, drifting off to sleep and wondering what she would learn next.

Mao would wake up the next day, stretching on her little bed made for her size. Making sure to do her bed, she then left floating to look for something to eat, mostly at the same place students went to get their food. Picking just some things that would serve as a breakfast, she ate rather quickly as she wanted to do other things, including going to see her mistress and perhaps hear of what was happening with Alenia in the same mean time. After she was done, Mao would first go for a lap around the fortress to see that everything was going alright but also to pick the potion she had found last time, just out of curiosity for it. With all that done, the catgirl would then use her magic to teleport away.

She would then appear to where Pelintira was, taking a look around but not really minding whatever could be seen there. For now, she was remaining quiet and waiting but inside her grasp was the heart sticker bottle that that was bigger than her paws, forcing her to carry it with her two hands. For the time being, Mao simply observed as she preferred to wait that the witch would notice her first and speak to her.

Pelintira assumed nothing significant happened with the body, she had not any disturbance within the fortress or from Alenia herself. Her chambers were sealed from all apprentices, including her, but it was always possible for the apprentices to reach out to her through magic, if absolutely necessary.

She had been up late, as she often was with her studies, before eventually getting a few hours rest.  Even then it was perhaps more accurately considered meditation than sleep.

After she was up, it was back to her studies again.  As well as looking through the crystal that she tended to use to check on things.  Both in the fortress and further away.

She noticed Mao, and her random potion, as she looked over Alenia’s room.  “She seems to be sleeping well, coming to terms with everything that happened.”  She spoke with her eyes still locked on the crystal.  “You are curious about that bottle?”  She asked Mao, she did wonder where Mao found it, though she had at least one guess about the source.  But would she have just randomly left a potion sitting out?

Mao remained still, listening to the statement made by the witch, which made her glad to know that Alenia was actually doing fine. Even if it was not in very good manners, so to speak. And yet, the sacrifice and body manipulation gave the impression of being a completely normal thing within these walls. This was not a surprise to Mao, considering her position, but she was not necessarily comfortable with it. The first time she had met with Alenia however, it was worse for her, to the point that the catgirl had to step up to be close and comfort her. Things had changed.

When the question about the bottle came up, Mao looked down at what she had in her grasp then back up to the old witch before she replied with a nod first then followed with an actual answer, "I found it in the library, on one of the tables. I think it's been opened and someone drank from it. Unless it should not be full." The bottle actually looked half full but otherwise, the cork was set tight in the opening. The only identification on the bottle was this red heart on it but for reasons, no words or anything were actually written. In symbol terms, it could be love related...?

A bottle with a random heart on it.  It was not impossible it could be love related.  There was plenty of magic out there to manipulate minds and feelings.  Love was certainly one method, either to try to win someone you wanted, or for manipulation.  Pelintira saw nothing wrong with such magic, used it from time to time, though she focused on other things.

She tended not to drink random potions to test them though.  She she had a great many protections and resistances from spells can’t on herself, and various artifacts, on and around her.  But she was not that reckless.

“I doubt it is Alenia’s, though we would have to ask her to be sure.  More likely it is our resident potion expert and merchant.  Though I don’t know why she would just leave one of her potions somewhere.”  She had allowed a number of ‘suppliers’ or merchants, that she could trust, to move in.  Help supply her and the apprentice’s.  Made things more convenient, they did not have to go looking for things.  “It might be a love potion…”. She speculated on the bottle’s meaning.  “Thought the bottle could be intentionally misleading.  Whatever it is, I would not recommend drinking it.”  Mao probably did not have to be told that, but she reflexively switched into ‘teacher’ mode.

Mao heard about this resident potion expert but she was not sure she had met with her directly. What she knew is that it was indeed odd that a potion was left randomly by a potion keeper on a table unless it was left by a student instead. If that student had also drank from the potion then... Her eyes widened suddenly with concerns and more so as Pelintira explained what the potion might be but was not necessarily what it looked like, especially if the bottle was made to fool the one drinking from it. Unless identified, potions were as vague and volatile as spells...

But still, if it was from a trusted potion maker, even Mao doubted that such a person would leave poison laying around where curious students could go ahead and test them out. It did not look like it was made by a student at least. The catgirl had an idea, however. One that even Pelintira herself probably thought about before she did herself: "Mistress... Should I find the one who made this potion? You could ask them yourself. Also... Should I also try to find the student who may have drunk from this potion?", she asked, feeling that both were good questions...

It was probably nothing to be too worried about.  There was not likely to be anything too dangerous in the potion supply.  "As for the drinker, it probably isn't a big deal.  At least if it was a love potion.  I'm not really bothered by anyone using such things.  Just make sure no one is sick or suffering from other strange unexpected symptoms."  Pelintira could help if there was an actual problem, but if it was a love potion, better to let it play out.  No harm there, in her mind.  "Though it is probably worth making sure it was actually bought, and not just left out."  It was worth at least double-checking with the merchant.  That it was not left out by accident or as an experiment or prank of some sort.  She should be professional enough not to do that, but Pelintira considered it her responsibility to check, just to be safe.

Mao listened to everything, nodding to Pelintira as well as the idea that it could be a harmless potion made sense. All the catgirl had to do was to look around and make sure that the student who drank it didn't suffer anything wrong from it. At the same time, even if she didn't find the actual drinker, a simple patrol around the fortress would do well to find if anyone is in a bad state or not. It probably was not anything to be alarmed about since she had found the potion the day before, only a few hours past before she went to bed herself.

Now, for the potion merchant, Mao would have to see if such a character was still in the fortress or not but again, nothing that some patrolling around the fortress would not give away, assuming that they were still around. Surprisingly, the catgirl didn't exactly visit every areas of the fortress and some areas just were not needed for her to go. She usually enjoyed the library itself but also patrolled the dormitories at times or any other studying spaces. She was not really required to be anywhere else but this one time, she would be to find her.

With this, Mao bowed lightly to the old witch. "I will find them, mistress. I will report if I find anything.", She said before she teleported.

Pelintira could have gone visiting the merchant herself, but Mao wanted to be helpful, so she would let her do it.  It let her watch Alenia some more.  Watched the body as well.  They were still connected, more than Alenia realized.  She was not showing signs yet, but maybe tomorrow.  In dreams or elsewhere.  She might have dreams where she saw the girl, watching or maybe even reliving some of her memories.  Other possibilities as well.  The soul’s closeness might have an impact too, but it was not necessary for these things.  It probably was not happening yet though, Pelintira suspected she would see signs of it in Alenia’s sleep.

Alenia would soon awake and sat up in her bed. Upon seeing the body she would panic for a moment but then would remember the events of the previous day. She let out a sigh and then got up and began to get ready for the day. After freshening up. She decided to leave her room and the body in it and headed to the eatery of the space where she would get some food. After that she would probably spend more of her time practicing with the body some more.

Mao flew around the fortress for a while, simply seeking signs of what happened and that merchant who Pelintira spoke of. She did not exactly think to check the eatery first however. Fortunately, the catgirl did not find signs of a sick student or anything either. At least, nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps the probability that the potion had been harmless was true after all. If such a potion had killed a student, she or even the elder witch would have heard of it instantly. Perhaps there was nothing to worry about after all. But Mao continued to search around.

Meanwhile, at the eatery, a black pawed and tailed character in witch uniform stood around for food when Alenia arrived. She needed to eat between her other activities after all. Stretching herself, after perhaps a rough awakening, her red eyes noticed the student coming inside. She was not particularly different or special compared to the many other ones but something about her made her wonder if she didn't need anything. She was alone, for one. Other students sometimes wandered in small groups. Smiling, the furred witch approached the young elf.

"Are you in need of something...?", the black witch asked, not referring to anything in particular but rather speaking of whatever she could need. "I am sorry, I don't mean to startle you.", she said, just in case but still smiled softly, trying to appear amicable. "I simply assumed that you might need something. I am not sure what but that would be for you to know... It is likely that I might be selling what you need, whatever it is that you might need. Don't be fooled, however... It's not about money but about satisfying you. Interested...?", the woman asked kindly.
