Magic and potion wing.

Recommended Posts

A light blush ran over Anpu's face. Obviously, she expected the sisters to behave flirtously, they were lust demons after all (and Anpu had her share of lust demons even today, having met the headmistress earlier this day), but even despite that, the constant flood of compliments made her unsure how to react. So she reacted how she usually did - by focusing on the task at hand. She breathed out with relief though, as it seemed the siblings did not have any malicious intent - not towards her at least.

She lowered herself closer to the circle, still not quite wanting to disturb it - the first rule of magic circles was to always treat them as if they were active - no matter how dormant they seemed. She took a soft sniff of the substance it was made of. The usual materials would be chalk or blood, but certain rituals required some specific ingredients to lock the summoned creature inside - for example, many demons could be stopped by mixing some salt into the barrier. She had trouble discerning what exactly went into the creation of this circle, but the scent was rich enough that she concluded it must have been from a recipe - otherwise the girls would not waste that much time to craft the solution. Satisfied with this part of her examination, she put another knee under herself and sat in front of the circle, once again taking a look at its entirety. Her eyes sought out the sun through the window, before turning towards Jessica.

"Well, for starters the entire thing is almost completely misaligned," she started, her voice gaining confidence as she spoke of the topics she had good knowledge of. "The sun needs to be pointing directly to the north, and the moon towards the south. Yours is slightly skewed, see?" Without looking, she gestured towards the sun slowly heading towards the horizon outside. "Do you have a compass around here?" she requested, her compulsion to correct this ritual overshadowing her doubt as to why is she even helping in a ritual in the first place.

While the triplets are not overly studious or hard workers most of the time, they do strive for perfection once they set their minds on a task or job to finish. Jessica grumbles lightly in discontent at what is being said, not keen on having to do this work all over. Hopefully it won't have to come to starting fully over once more, but she wants to make certain what needs to happen here so the summoning can commence and succeed. There is no point in doing this half-way or sloppily anyway or it will mean even more work to be done.

Giana and Claire knows that Jessica is not pleased with the situation, so they let her speak only and focus on getting ready to work on the circle soon."So...what do you suggest we do now? I really hope we don't have to remove it all and start from scratch?", Jessica asks Anpu.

[ OOC: I edited the "completely upside down" to "completely misaligned" in my last post - on a second thought it would make sense for their mistake not to be so severe, and it will keep the scene easier to manage. ]

Silence befell the room, as Anpu's mind went to the small library of knowledge she had about summoning rituals. She's read quite a lot on the subject, but as far as her memory extended, none of the testimonies she's read ever described an... imprefect ritual. Not a succesful one, at least. As far as she knew, if the conjured being was strong enough, even the slightest gaps in the structure of the circle could prove fatal to the entire ritual. And if you were to summon a weaker creature... well, the circle wouldn't be as elaborate as it was if it was a "weaker creature" they were trying to conjure. "Well, the correct course of action would be to re-do the circle from scratch, but..." she paused, looking at the lines intertwining in the circle before her. Redrawing this thing would take ages... Maybe it would not be that much of an issue? The error wasn't too jarring after all. "I mean..." she picked up. "The circle should work as it currently is. It will just be... weaker. Depending on what you want to summon, it may hold, it just... what exactly are you trying to summon here?"

Jessica, wondering if something was not properly detailed to the assistant, as she clearly has told the one who told her, that the sister wanted a familiar. Of course, someone who serves their whims canoot and should not be weaker. They want something befitting of them as well as the strongest ally possible for future duels, so they do not have to worry about making trouble and mischief. After all, that is still a very respected and acknowledged way to solve disputes. The two other sisters can tell Jessica is going to try and solve this issue."We are wanting us a familiar, plain and simple. I thought you were informed miss Anpu? Anyway, it being weaker is out of the question. Only the best is good enough for us", she argues.

"Oh~, I meant, the circle would be weaker, not the summon," Anpu clarified. "It is here to hold the summoned creature in place so that you can, you know, place your demands!" There was a surprising amount of enthusiasm in her voice as she mentioned that, given how historically most of the times summoning had not been exactly used for too... noble of causes. "And don't you know what the familiar you're summoning is?" she insisted. "Wasn't it written on the scroll somewhere?" She wasn't in fact aware in the first place that it was a familiar the sisters were trying to summon, but hearing that was surprisingly comforting - even if she wasn't exactly sure whether summoning such creatures was even allowed by school rules. It meant, for one, that the three devious demons were not attempting to, for example, make a pact with a devil. In simpler terms - a good sign.

All three of them, but especially Jessica, sighs in relief as it seems their efforts were not in vain, even if the result with the circle was not the best. Giana and Claire stand and admire their handiwork while Jessica works out the final details and such with the young assistant. Of course, none of them have done something like this before and while they have looked through several scrolls and books on the matter, none of the specific summons seemed to be what they were seeking.

"Oh, is that all? Haha, we can most creatures in check, though probably not in the way you think miss Anpu. You may have to witness our awesome powers in effect if it tries to be violent. Still, we do not plan to enslave anything. After all, a familiar bond needs to be consensual on both sides, at least at a basic level. And no, this scrolls just mentions "great warriors" - meaning it could have many looks....and isn't it more interesting to see what great students like us can bring forth rather than a cookie cutter one?", she answers back with a confident and cocky grin.

"With that said....are you ready to help us now?", Giana quickly interjects, as she is getting a bit impatient.

If anything, Jessica's assurances were nearly the exact opposite to what Anpu hoped for. Summoning was very much not about "awesome powers" and experimenting with summoning "great warriors". Summoning had more to do with having to run for your life from an angry archdemon after you realize that maybe you should have finished drawing that circle before moving on to the "more interesting" parts of the ritual, and trying not to get your soul trapped in an inescapable maze by a bunch of angry fey who broke out of your control after you tried to send them after your enemies. It was a seriously dangerous process, and Anpu was not too keen as to trust the sisters' ability to "keep creatures in check".

"Right, I-" she started trying to voice her concerns, before the voice of the other sister interrupted her mid-sentence. "Yes, s-sorry!" she quickly responded to the impatient demon, her ears arching towards the back of her head in a compliant expression. not really wanting to make the siblings angry. "Umm, so the circle is mostly complete already, you'll just need to light some candles in these four circles at the vertices," she pointed at the symbols. "Then you'll want to start the invocation while supplying energy to the circle. Magic works, but historically, this has also been done through some intense physical activity, like dancing-" she recited, clearly quoting some book she must have read. "-Of course you also need the chant or the true name of the creature summoned," she added from herself, "It should be somewhere in the scroll."

The triplets have no idea about the preconceived fears and imaginations of the anubis woman. Even if they did, they would strike it off as mostly paranoia and odd belief in what is mostly human ideas about summonin rituals. While not overly common here or in monster society as a whole, there are still plenty of normal stories about such things taking place.

While most of it does make sense to Jessica and the others, there is still the matter of how it is not for something specific. Of course, they have all read the scroll through several times and nowhere does it say what species it is, their name or anything. So while the two other sisters set up candles and write down copies of the chant from the scroll, the unofficial leader of the sisters still is turned towards Anpu."There is no name or anything like that. We will just have to do what the scrolls says and of course what else seems to fit such a ritual. As far I understand...we all have magical energy within us, but not everyone are good enough to harness it to use it for spells and the like...".

Anpu grit her teeth, still not quite sure about the safety of this entire thing. Maybe she should have just gone and warned someone who had some more experience on fighting potential otherworldly threats. Or someone who could stop the triplets from actually performing the ritual. But being more or less in the center of attention, her chances of slipping out were rather slim - it seemed she needed to carry through the entirety of this. So she sincerely hoped it would all go according to plan.

"Um- yeah, for arcane magic, that's- more or less right..." she said, visibly glooming at Jessica's mention. She wasn't sure if the demoness teased her intentionally or not, but for someone who spent countless hours buried in the library in fruitless attempts to do as much as summon a spark of arcane energy in her hand, being called "not good enough" hurt harder than a kick in the groin. She cleared her throat, trying to regather her composure. "So, umm, the scroll should have the incantation. Just read it as you expand energy and, uhh, it should summon... something," she stated without much confidence. She felt like she was stating the obvious here, but that was pretty much all help she could have given aside from checking on whether everything was set up and performed correctly - pretty much everything else was in the scroll. There were a couple more advanced techniques she's read of, but none of them needed to be utilized for a summoning such as this one, so she didn't even mention them.

The two other sisters are still preoccupied with doing the last preparations just right and correctly. They know that doing things less than stellar not only may weaken the ritual effectiveness, but also earn them the scorn of Jessica. So they focus extra much on things. It also means that they can keep out of the rather awkward conversation that is happening between the last sister and the anubis assistant. Soon enough, they do seem to finish fully."Anpu! Jessica! We should be ready to go".

Jessica mostly get what is being said by Anpu before she turns head and attention towards Claire, who makes them aware that things should be good to go."Lovely. There is no reason to wait then. Do you wish to participate miss Anpu or are you more keen on observing?", she asks the library assistant.

"Oh, uh... I can do either," Anpu responded as noncommittally as it was possible. A large part of her was really curious in how doing something like that was even like - she's never done a ritual on that scale before, after all. The more reasonable part of her, however, knew that the less she had to do with this entire matter, the better. If it does, in the end, turn out to summon  a large fire-breathing monster that would destroy half the building, Anpu most certainly would not want to be in any way linked to this matter. And preferably have the energy to run as far as possible as well. "I mean- If you need my help then maybe I could...?" she hesitated, her curiosity starting to slowly win over.

The triplets, collectively, can easily tell there is hesitation in the voice and body language of the anubis lady who is here with them. Neither of them has any sort of fears about doing this. After all, they can easily slip away even in the miniscule chance that it should turn hairy. They have no idea why the assistant shows this uncertainty, but it certainly doesn't really sit fully well with any of them. Jessica turns to look at Anpu with a mildly serious expression."What is this hesitation about? Explain yourself...are you not certain about your instructions or something? You are talking to some of the best students after all", she replies back, wondering what is going on with the anubis.

The others also begin to look at her a bit oddly and even seem to position themselves near the door out, wanting an explanation as well.

"No, no, the instructions are good!" she assured earnestly, shaking both her head and her hands to emphasize her point. "I'm just- uhh... unsure what's going to come out. That's it. It could be... intimidating," she confessed, managing to convey at least a part of her fears. She had already given up on the idea of trying to convince the demons to change their plans, but the sisters' confidence in their own abilities certainly didn't diminish her worries about the outcome. As she saw the looks on the remaining demons faces, she sweated slightly. "Are you sure you want me around when you summon it?" she asked, grasping at the last straws that could potentially get her out of there. "What if the demon-" she started, biting her tongue a bit too late. "What if your familiar thinks that I'm- a part of the deal? Another master or, emm... a sacrifice...?" she smiled nervously, in her usual reflex coiling her tail around her body. A light flush appeared on her cheeks as she voiced these concerns, her mind imagining the potential outcomes of such scenario.

Jessica gives a clear and probably decisive look at her sisters, before her eyes turn to Anpu once more. A small grin grows on her face as she sees a chance to mess with the anubis. Nothing too malicious of course, but she cannot help but find her lack of confidence in them to be uncalled for and unnecessary."Ohh, but of course we would like you to be here. After all, you are the one who knows most about ritual and such after all. It would be most wise to keep you here in case we need you in some way or another. Do not worry about the familiar thinking you might be its master", Jessica responds back while the door is being locked with Anpu's attention drawn to the unofficial leader of the sisters.

"Shall we begin?", another sister chimes in finally while she and Claire get into position.

"R-right, yeah. Of course." Anpu quickly agreed, not really finding many ways to slither her way out of this situation. Maybe it was for the better. At least she could try and manage the situation if something indeed went wrong. It wouldn't be as good as having someone who could actually use magic supervise the situation, but she did, after all, have most experience with such things out of all of them. She exhaled, Let's get this over with.

"Yeah, let's start," she nodded with resignation towards the other sister, approaching the circle herself. "So how exactly do you plan on providing the energy? You three don't really, uh, use magic from what I remember-" she asked, realizing that it may be better to agree on this before they started the ritual. Last thing they wanted was a lack of coordination. Of course, as far as Anpu knew, the sisters thought almost as one, so they wouldn't have much of a problem, but sadly (or thankfully), she wasn't in on that.

"That is where my research comes to play, miss Anpu. You see, we are aware that our magical energy needs to have some sort of "transmitter". So I have talked to the headmaster who okayed us this given we had your supervision about it. She lent us these amulets, which can conduct our energy into our chanting. Pretty nifty, I must say", one of the other sisters chime in with a great smirk plastered onto her face.

"You see, miss Anpu. We have not gone into this blind or anything. We have done all we can to prepare properly. We don't do things halfassed, whether it is summoning stuff or heavy romping", Jessica adds and snickers playfully whilst giving the anubis an elevator look and a seductive smile.

"Allright. So that settles that. Can we begin now?", the last asks Anpu. The three of them position themselves so all four in the room have an equal distance between them.

Couldn't they have said so from the beginning? Anpu breathed out not without relief. If they did have clearance from the headmistress, this whole ordeal was much safer than what the Anubis suspected. Although this didn't really explain why they were given a scroll that didn't even mention what it summoned, or why there was no supervising figure in sight - Anpu somehow doubted that the headmistress would let the triplets (out of all people) conduct a potentially magical ritual without having anyone watch over it. Surely she knew the dangers of such things... right?

Anpu nodded a few quick times. "Yeah- alright. But then... how do you want me to participate? You only have three amulets-" she asked, finding some more flaws in the plan. Her cheeks flushed under Jessica's gaze. "I'll also need to see the incantation."

Giana frowns a little bit before tossing a last one at Anpu, letting her know there were four of them lent to the sisters."We were not told who would be helping us out, but just in case I asked for a fourth one", she says with a bit of a sigh, but nothing too bad it sounds like. Up close, the small amulet in a necklace pretty much resembles a tiny piece of glowing crystal trapped within a container with some weird liquid.

The scroll is given to Anpu as the sisters have read it so many times so they basically memorized it."With that...I think we are pretty much set?", Jessica says, in a more calm and collected tone and noticing the reddened cheeks of the assistant she cannot help but send her a quick, but still distinct wink."After this is over...we can...celebrate. I mean, we got to after doing such a demanding thing, right?", she asks with a voice dripping sweet like honey to the anubis.

The existence of the fourth amulet came at a bit of a surprise to Anpu. Either they had more foresight than she thought they would, or they planned to drag her into it in the first place. Anpu didn't really bother to consider which one was it. She barely caught the amulet, cowering just slightly at the sister's sigh. Was she being obnoxious? She really didn't want to get on the sisters' bad side. Raising her head, she gave Giana a short, thankful, and a bit apologetic smile.

She didn't get much time to examine the trinket before the other sister handed her the scroll. Anpu quickly got to its study, taking the time to do a few last check-ups on the ritual and to memorize the incantation herself. It seemed easy enough. Her ears perked up slightly at the sound of Jessica's voice speaking near her.

"Hmm...? Oh, yes, I guess we could," she agreed absentmindedly, giving the sister little focus as she read the document. Only after a few seconds did the implication of Jessica's words get through to her. Right, let's... not get distracted just yet, Anpu, she reprimanded herself, but her eyes went slightly above the text, just for a few seconds examining Claire's rather alluring buttocks. The Anubis smiled nervously, for the last time reading the incantation, and put the scroll away. "Yeah- Alright, we can begin," she confirmed, moving herself to her position and raising the amulet, studying it for a couple seconds before putting it around her neck.

Giana seems to relax quickly and almost instantly seem to forget about the annoyance of the moment. To make Anpu know this, she sends her a small, but warm smile in return whilst putting on her own amulet. There is no reason to get into any sort of quarrel about something this insignificant and inconsequential. She just wants this to be done and over with and have it done well and properly.

The other sisters do the same while Anpu is given time to read the scroll and double check things. Of course, the sisters are very keen about everything going about them and especially if this is related to anything carnal or lust by any measure. So the subtle look from Anpu makes Claire quite aware that she and the others are most likely something that could tempt the anubis woman. Without Anpu knowing it, the sisters share this information telepathically as well, making them all aware of it. Though for now, they do want to focus on this task.

"Allright. Will you lead on then miss Anpu?", Jessica asks.

"Yeah, one moment."

Anpu breathed in and out, feeling as if the eyes of the entire world were suddenly on her - even if it were only the three demons that looked at her with anticipation. Still, it were three demons more than she was used to. Her eyes went for a second towards the scroll, now lying by the side, even though she couldn't see much on it. The words of the incantation were fresh in her mind, the circle was primed and ready - and so were the participants. It seemed that there was nothing staying on their way now - so Anpu swallowed past her nervousness and raised her gaze. "Yeah, alright- Don't stop the chant until the portal closes behind the familiar, don't step into the circle, and don't panic when you feel your energy being siphoned by the amulet-" she recited quickly, trying to make eye contact with each sister at once, ensuring that they knew how to proceed. "Join me after the first verse."

And she started the chant.

They nod in unison and have surprisingly serious expression upon their faces as they listen and get ready for what is to come. They each recite the chant in their minds a few times before then joining together with the anubis woman who instructed them how to get started properly.

At first, nothing seems to be happening, but soon enough the ritual goes well underway as the large magical circle lights up with energy and things progress pretty much as they had hoped, with nothing seeming wrong in any sort of way.

The whole thing ends up with the whole circle making a body slowly, but surely getting "drawn" into existence, almost as if a dimensional brush is scribbling it in, line by line, rapidly. After a couple of minutes of this, a short, but stout looking female with a massive hammer is standing up and looking around. Her face looking even more serious than that of the triplets. The sisters doing their best to not jump in surprise or joy as their plan have worked.

"Who of you have called upon me?", she then asks into the room.

The sisters stop their chanting and they all smile triumphantly."It is us, the LuBelle sisters. I am Jessica and this is Giana and Claire", the unofficial leader speaks out in response.

The entire process was monotonous and rather repetitive, with lines of chants being repeated one after the other, but the visual of a figure getting drawn in the middle of the room was strangely fascinating, and kept Anpu engrossed throughout the entirety of the ritual. It felt a bit like some exotic game of charades, and the end result was... well far from what the Anubis expected.

For a hero of legends, the figure that now stood in front of them was surprisingly... small. Given, the impressive muscle mass and even more impressive hammer did make up for it, but Anpu still had some trouble considering someone whose height ended roughly near her waist too seriously.

Nevertheless, when she finally got to finish up the chant and the last arcane lines have finished appearing, she breathed out in relief and a surprising amount of satisfaction. They did it- They actually summoned a... well, whatever that being was. And from what Anpu noticed, the circle did seem to hold quite well - given the conjured creature wasn't (yet) fighting against it. It all felt almost eerie. Anpu had so many questions she wanted to ask the creature - where did it come from, what its name was, how there even was a scroll to summon it - but for now she remained silent, not wanting to interrupt the LuBelle sisters, as they apparently had things relatively under control.

It was at this moment that she realized that they focused so much on the summoning itself that they haven't really discussed actually communicating and discussing the terms with what they brought into this world, but, given the sisters' demonic nature, Anpu expected them to have some knowledge on how these things worked.

OOC: Since it seems relatively pointless to have a conversation between two different characters of my own, I will try and make it short and to the point.

Jessica soon learns the name of the familiar, which is Jennifer. Then exchange terms for the bond between them and her, which basically boils down to her being their champion in battle and in return, they provide her with their magical energies and monetary payment, as well as being considered part of the prestigous LuBelle family. The sisters seem surprisingly reasonable and agreeable in their offers. The negotiations are over rather fast and easily as well, putting an end to the whole thing. The three sisters and Jennifer are given a symbol on the backs of their hand to both represent the bond as well as a means to summon Jennifer when needed. After that they say their goodbyes and the mysterious creature vanish once more.

After this, the trio then turn their attention towards the anubis lady once more."So, what do you think miss Anpu? Went smoothly after all...we told you that we were some of the best", Jessica says with a cocky grin on her face.

[ OOC: Sure thing, it can feel pretty weird speaking with yourself sometimes ^-^ ]

As the triplets handle the conversation, Anpu retreats slightly to the back of the room, not really wanting to interrupt them. Thankfully, Jennifer - as the familiar was named - didn't really seem to give her much attention, and the process of negotiation went surprisingly smoothly.

"Y-yeah, you handled it really well!" Anpu agreed, genuinely quite impressed with the smooth proceedings of the situation. Her attention was brought to the symbol, now adorning Jessica's hand, curled into a curious mark of a bond between the sisters and the familiar. A part of her mind tried figuring out whether she could relate the markings to anything she had seen before, but, alas, nothing came to the Anubis' mind. Maybe it was just supposed to be unique and didn't have any ulterior meaning after all.

She raised her head, bringing herself back to the present, and looked at Jessica. "So... that was it, right?" she half-asked, half-concluded. "You got a familiar. I... hope I was of help," she smiled a bit awkwardly, unsure exactly what to do with herself now.
