Amy watched Skye.  “Take your time.  Both with the soreness and getting used to your new senses.  We can wander around a little outside the room, if you want.”  Were there any interesting scents to follow, other things she wanted to explore?  “We can also find a place for you to relax, if the pain becomes problematic.”  Skye was supposedly going to be well enough to leave today, but it would not hurt to let her rest if she needed to.  It was most important she did not hurt herself by getting too excited.

Amy walked over to the door, opened it and let Skye follow her out.  It was a plain hall without much in it, but maybe it would still be interesting to Skye.  Smells of people who had recently walked though, maybe linger smells or faint sounds she wanted to follow.  Amy simply walked slowly down the hall, at Skye’s side, seeing what she would do.  She was not leading Skye anywhere specific.

Amy was not sure what Skye was smelling, or where they were going but she followed along.  There was the occasional smell of various people, who passed by linger smells from cleaning materials.  If she got too close to a bathroom door, there would probably be surprising smells.  Hints of various food smells were also coming up as they approached both a small cafeteria and a break room, where some of the staff ate.

Skye continued to pursue the pleasant smell she was smelling. She could not believe she had managed to pick up on it from having been so far away, it was just another new benefit to her new nose. As they continued, it seems that the scent truly was food related as Skye stopped in front of the break room and pawed at the door for Amy to open it for her.

They technically were not staff.  Amy suspected they would be let into most rooms though.  Skye was an important enough project to them, she was likely to be allowed anywhere that delicate work was not being done.  She open the door, the room was empty, but there was a little food on a table in the middle of the room, and a few vending machines against the wall.  A few chairs and a small couch surrounding it.  "If you want to eat some it, go ahead."  Skye was supposed to generally eat dog food from here on, but she would not mind if Skye occasionally ate human food, especially in rare cases like this.

Skye nodded at the words. She was surprised but felt happy for this opportunity from Amy. She crawled over to the table and looked up and then back at Amy and then jumped up onto one of the chairs and sat there on her hands and knees like a dog and began to lean over the table, reaching out to some of the food with her mouth and began to eat.

Amy took a look at the machines, out of curiosity, but did not buy anything.  She then turned to watch Skye, letting her have as much as she wanted.  There was not a lot on a table, and it would not be a big deal if she ate it all.  As long as it did not trouble her stomach, so soon after the procedures, it was fine if she ate as much she wanted.  She did not sit though, since it might not take her very long to eat and they might move to another room soon after.

“Let’s see if you find anything else interesting.  Though I’m not sure what there is, I only saw parts of the building.”  As Amy said that, another thought came her mind.  A test, or fun challenge.  “As we go, you also see if you can use your nose to find the room I slept in last night.”  She was not sure how easy that would be, how close Skye would have to get.  But maybe eventually lingering hints of her scent from before could lead Skye to the room.

Skye blinked at Amy’s little challenge but smirked. She felt excited and ready for it. As they left the room and continued to walk around, Skye sniffed all around, getting used to her new sense of smell when suddenly her nose began to pick up on something, it was faint but smelled like Amy. With that she began to follow the scent eagerly.

They continued down the plain halls, seemingly randomly at first.  Passing a number of doors that Amy could only guess what was on the other side.  Skye would only know better, if some sort of smells were slipping.  But after a time, they seemed to be on the right track, going on a direct path, that Amy began to find more familiar.  She did not say anything though, wanted Skye to rely on her senses, learn to use them in new ways.  It was working so far.

Eventually they made it to the door.  “Good girl.  You are already getting good at this.  Will have to test how well you do with other smells later, less familiar ones.  Amy figured her scent would be a favorite of Skye’s.  Easier than most.  “Was there anything else interesting, you noticed on the way?”
