Added Kiyo to the characters section. Split her personality information up a bit to make it easier to read (and to flesh it out a little more). If we want to go into a little bit of background information I can do that too if need be (I see Leon did that, so I figured I'd ask). I suppose I technically haven't answered anyone else's questions then since Dreams swapped characters, so I might try to take the next one (depending on what it is, of course). I believe we are waiting on Dreams' new character and Warning's character before we continue questions, right?

I am trying my best. Issue is time... I wish I had infinite time. I already have an idea of what job I want if I go between angel and news. Just need a character, I guess. The stat sheet otherwise plays itself once the character is found. (As I saw preset stat builds and easy ways to just start things up from there.) So yeah, all I need now is time. Looped time.

Guess I should properly write out Jasmine myself

no matter the point in history one thing always brings people together, be it cavemen on mamoth skin drums, a tavern with a bard playing on a guitar, or something more classy like a piano in a fine hotel... music brings people together, and in a way, is the best way to keep the world worth living in. this was the mindset of jamine, a lover of music in all forms, she just wants to make the world a better place...at least by her own definition.

The problem? she was absolutely horrid at taking care of herself... so doing what any proper musician would do, she focused on making the world better through music... and left that survival stuff to be someone else's problem. they'll like a better world right?...

thats where things get... odd, she has never really answered questions about where shes from properly, always sidestepping the question or otherwise leaving the conversation entirely. no one close to jasmine seems to know anything concrete about her origins.

Kiyo, we're you at the gig? If so who runs the venue and what are they like? If you didn't go, what were you doing while Jasmine's music thundered through sky and sand around you.

Kiyo was there! Kiyo was in the dark rafters within the top of the venue, watching everything down below, not because it gave her the feeling of being bigger than everyone else but totally only to get a good view. She was volunteering to be both lookout and secret faraway security from above! It definitely wasn't to keep away from the crowds because she definitely isn't scared of crowds, and she will grumble at anyone who tries to say otherwise!

The person running the venue was some big, burly, sort of handsome in a rough way man. A mutant sort of resembling a big lizard, with a scar over one eye and a sharp-toothed smile that definitely wasn't at all frightening! She thinks his name was Vrax. He seemed like the sort who is reasonable, if not kind of stubborn and kind of intimidating, but also the sort who maybe lets his gaze linger a bit too much on the ladies. Kiyo definitely saw him make out with one or two through the night, and they were definitely getting it on with someone but Kiyo definitely looked away and didn't watch at all because, after all, Kiyo is very good at her job and would never get distracted by things! Also she was promised treats if she did a good job and she definitely kept an eye on everything and missed nothing, not even when Vrax was making deals with some other shady group of people who she may or may not have spied on a little.

Kiyo sees all and definitely saw Yuka. Vrax was looking too but didn't do anything, he probably knew better. She did see Yuka talking to one of the shady group people for a bit but she also had more important things to look at so she didn't watch for too long.

Also I am guessing Jasmine's Hx choice gets made after we all go through questions, right? We're going to wait for Warning to officially join I assume before moving on to the next set, so it's easier for them to meld in with the group.

Also also I like Jasmine's and Leon's idea of a backstory so I think I'll add that to Kiyo's as well. And some things I forgot to add like her sex move.

So jasmines attention was taken not by a "who" but more of a "what"... she kept seeing doubles... not the same person next to one another or something like that, but she swore she saw leon in two different places on opposite sides of the location... she saw someone with a unicorn horn enter the bathroom one second before the next she saw the same man hitting on the barkeep... she even swore she saw kiyo mad dash out of the building before spotting her in the rafters in the same glance around? She swore she saw the same people too many times in too many places... one always seeming busy well the other seemed to be enjoying the music.... it was really weird...

But shes used to the weird... she probably asked leon about both things she saw him doing... but he only knew about the one he actually did...

....(let me know if thats too much of a curve ball from the question, i liked the idea but if its too much of a deviation i can redo it)

Of course Violetta went. Everyone who mattered did. The hyena fixer, Ravik, was there, leaning against a rusted pillar like he owned the air. He had told her he had a job for her, but she told him to wait til after the show. So was Bram, the wall of muscle that protected the hardholder, pretending not to watch her in a way that tagged him as either her next conquest or her biggest problem... maybe both. But her eyes were inevitably drawn back again and again to Velour, the androgynous fox who was either a seducer or a killer. She felt a connection to them; perhaps it was simply two like souls, dangerous, predatory, and hungry... perhaps it was more.

(let me know if I stepped on any creative toes... none of those need to stick, but I figured I'd toss out options)

I’m stuck looking at work build up but not being able to do anything while part of the system isn’t working for me. So let’s see if I can get my answer in. Hopefully it is a good answer, it is a bit more about Leon and Jasmine but tried to give a reasonable idea of the location.

I can edit this a little, if you want Dreams, I am not sure how connected everyone is at the start (the Hx naturally means there are connections, but not sure how often most of them see other prior to the start) but Leon is at least spending plenty of time with the one he has the leash of. But just making a bit of guess on how things are between them.

Leon had not expected this when he was driven off from his old pride and into the city. But he became something of a mix of a bodyguard and agent to a musician. Perhaps they were other things in private too. The fact she wore a leash and seemed compelled to have someone hold it and guide her suited him fine. It went along with both his Brainer instincts and it in some ways felt both similar and different to the women of his tribe.

All this meant, he was happy to let her perform. But he was careful about where and protective. He did not like other males showing too much of a certain interest in her. Though he was always less bothered by what women did with each other. It was similar in the old pride. One man, numerous women, it was not uncommon for the women to do things with each other. Nothing wrong with that as far as he was concerned. If anything it helped make them a stronger group.

Granted in a world like this, you often did not have as much control as you would like. But it at least meant there were some options that were too much trouble to agree to. In this case it was a basement of an old large building. Open, a sort or place with a bit of a history of such performances. While arguably nowhere in the city was completely safe, it was at least a little safer than many options. He kept his eye on things from the back, where he was just out of sight of most of the audience but able to keep Jasmine in sight.

I... will mention the leash mechanic is described/intended to be less literal than having someone constantly holding it... its more of a BDSM pet play kinda thing where i give up a lot of my autonomy and decision making power and become basically your follower in a sense, in exchange for you taking care of me in multiple ways (note i both spend your money mechanically, and generate money as well) aside from that, being similar to the woman in your tribe sounds reasonable to me

this is fine, it may lead to some conflict between us since jasmine is outgoing in several ways, passive in others, and easy in the way that matters. if anything this will probably on occasion cause my "off the leash" feature to trigger... which might ultimately cause conflict there

reading this made me wonder what the actual dangers are in this setting? is it just rival gangs and general lawlessness, or is there a bigger threat? (maybe not a question for you but wanted to ask anyways)

I think it fits really well personally. A medic. One of our weird crew of mutants. Background setting fits. Mostly a matter of if it fits the character you wanna make. Definitely feels more leaning away from the weird stat type of medic, which I feel is what you were trying to go for.

Cool+2 because she will not mind trying to save someone in the middle of fire. Hard=0 seems fair for not trying to pick a fight. Hot-1 (After realizing what the stat meant) because she will not try to seduce or manipulate her way out of a situation. Sharp+2 because well... Smart and good at her job not sure. And weird-1 because yeah, not weird. :P

I think it works well looking at it that way too, yeah.

For Kiyo as an example I went with:

Cool +1 (Because she can keep chill under pressure but also maybe sometimes she loses her cool, especially if she gets a little explosion happy.)
Hard +3 (When she does focus on her shooting she locks in, and when she locks in she is actually dangerous.)
Hot -2 (Too dumb and too shy and timid to seduce, especially when it comes to strangers or people she just doesn't trust.)
Sharp +2 (She is good at scavenging and scouting, and has a good eye for her surroundings, developed from her youth and her long range gunslinging.)
Weird -1 (Too dumb to really make much of the weird maelstrom stuff.)

Okay so I tried searching everything and I dunno who Jazz or Yuka are. XD I imagine they are just some NPCs who did something. (Not sure of what importance.)

Also, I wonder if Sixth Sense also affect Healing Touch. I will have to admit I don't have any idea what "Opening brain to maelstrom" means and I tried to read the playbook to understand it. I don't see how it "helps" me do my job, especially in the sense where I'd use sharp instead. Because I have no idea what the whole brain thing actually does for me in this game.

As for gear, the whole angel kit thing, a stun gun seems appropriate. (To actually help people and not try to kill them. A stun should chill the f out of something, fitting with her). As for the piece for armor +1, I don't know if her lab coat counts. Or "angel uniform" in other terms. Not exactly sure what oddments worth 2 barter means in the context of gear, though.

@Warning The question about Jazz and Yuka refers mostly to this post. It's just setup I believe for the beginning of the game.

Sixth Sense feels like it would also fit with something like Healing Touch since it does mention in the description about opening your brain and someone else's to the maelstrom, but I think @WritesNaughtyStories would have to confirm that. I think that is more just a way to describe using the weird powers of the world.

That would work for armor, I think. Its pretty flexible what people's armor is, as long as it makes sense and fits the amount it might grant.

Oddments worth 2 barter is just general random stuff worth two points of barter. Barter seems to be used to establish how well your character is doing at the beginning of a new session (what sort of lifestyle they are living), which can add some in RP affects (such as maybe being in debt to another player, or maybe you take harm because you aren't eating or drinking enough). They can also be used on Barter Moves. I'll list them in the spoiler below.

Barter Moves:
When you give 1-barter to someone, but with strings attached, it counts as manipulating them and hitting the roll with a 10+, no leverage or roll required.

When you go into a holding’s bustling market, looking for some particular thing to buy, and it’s not obvious whether you should be able to just go buy one like that, roll+sharp. On a 10+, yes, you can just go buy it like that. On a 7–9, the MC chooses 1:

It costs 1-barter more than you’d expect.
It’s not openly for sale, but you find someone who can lead you to someone selling it.
It’s not openly for sale, but you find someone who sold it recently, who may be willing to introduce you to their previous buyer.
It’s not available for sale, but you find something similar. Will it do?

On a miss, the MC chooses 1, plus it costs 1-barter more.

When you make known that you want a thing and drop jingle to speed it on its way, roll+barter spent (max roll+3). It has to be a thing you could legitimately get this way. On a 10+ it comes to you, no strings attached. On a 7–9 it comes to you, or something pretty close. On a miss, it comes to you, but with strings very much attached.

Riiight, barter = trade item or something. It's like a kind of money, I guess. I saw some people start with 4 or 6 oddments. I know we get like 4 class moves in total. Well, at least for angel. Start with 2 and if I stay in the non-weird, professional compassion and battlefield grace would work. One for the coolness, the other for class stat based "support"

It would make sense that infirmary IF I get there is something I only get later. And sixth sense might also work later as I develop, question mark. Still curious about if sixth sense is SUPPOSED to be used with healing touch for a sharp angel, though. Considering that healing touch is their only "weird" move. That would be something to find out about...

Oh right. What about stat highlight? I knew I wanted to ask about something. Is it something that matters from the start and do I need to select one?

@Warning So Highlighted Stats play into improvement and experience gathering. Whenever you roll a highlighted stat, and whenever you reset your Hx with someone, you mark an experience circle. When you mark the 5th, you improve your character (effectively level them up and choose an Improvement from your sheet's list) and then erase experience. There are other things like certain moves that can affect this too I believe (like seducing someone, for instance). It says at the end of your sheet what happens as far as highlighting goes at the start. So for Angel at the end of the Hx section: At the end, choose one of the characters with the highest Hx on your sheet. Ask that player which of your stats is most interesting, and highlight it. The MC will have you highlight a second stat too. This will happen after we get through the asking each other questions section.

No one really knows what the Maelstrom is. Maybe it's the screaming anguish of the dead world, maybe it's the hopes of all the people living in the grave of what used to be. Maybe it's all of our minds.

What we do know is we can reach into it and sometimes it shows us things we want and how to get them. Sometimes it leaves us screaming and crying.

Healing touch allows an angel to lay their bare hand on another person's skin and heal them. You roll 2d6 + weird (in your case -1) on a 6 or less bad things come from the Maelstrom, on a 7-9 you heal the person for 1 and make an "Open your Brain" move and roll. On a 10+ you heal them and connect to their brain.

As you have -1 weird, I would NOT take healing touch.

@WritesNaughtyStories Warning does have a move that they could take called Sixth Sense:

Sixth Sense: when you open your brain to the world’s psychic maelstrom, roll+sharp instead of +weird.

Would that let them use Sharp instead of Weird for Healing Touch? I believe that was one of Warning's earlier questions.
