While Dreams does already have stuff to catch up on, realize I should address this last post of hers' from before last night/today, that I got delayed on replying to after a few busy days, regarding Leon and Jasmine.

Works for me.  Certainly works for Leon.

I... will mention the leash mechanic is described/intended to be less literal than having someone constantly holding it... its more of a BDSM pet play kinda thing where i give up a lot of my autonomy and decision making power and become basically your follower in a sense, in exchange for you taking care of me in multiple ways (note i both spend your money mechanically, and generate money as well) aside from that, being similar to the woman in your tribe sounds reasonable to me

That does appear to be true.  With your pictures was not sure if she was going for wearing a literal one more often though.  Will see about editing a little on that point.

this is fine, it may lead to some conflict between us since jasmine is outgoing in several ways, passive in others, and easy in the way that matters. if anything this will probably on occasion cause my "off the leash" feature to trigger... which might ultimately cause conflict there

Will have to see how it goes.  On one hand they have been together for a while.  He is doing something right.  But he has a hard to resist instinct that might create tension with a few.  Wanting several women, but very against sharing them with other men.  Also see what happens if he makes progress with one or two of the other women where it is a possibility.  The longer they have been together, the more interesting that possible tension might be.  Who knows what happens if she goes 'off leash'.  Of course since it up to dice, it might or might not happen.  See how he reacts to whoever the new leash holder, if/when that happens, depending on who it is and how connected he is to her.  Even if he loses the leash, would think she would still have interest in him, but have to see what the new leash holder would think about it.

reading this made me wonder what the actual dangers are in this setting? is it just rival gangs and general lawlessness, or is there a bigger threat? (maybe not a question for you but wanted to ask anyways)

Yeah, my guess is as good as yours, but I figured there would be things for him to protect her from.  But we both might be finding that out later.

Nothing forces us to even answer questions, for one. (Leaving us at +1hx for that character who asked). It's the one who place themselves into them with their answer that get the points. Sometimes, we see something that works and that's what I'm fishing for myself.

Answering the question gives Hx to the person whose question you answered, not to you for answering. When you ask questions, you mark Hx on your sheet when someone answers. You use Hx to affect dice rolls pertaining to other characters, earn it at the end of a session from people who know you better or worse, and level up when you get enough + or - Hx. Not answering questions benefits no one.

HX

  • Every player’s character has Hx, history, with every other player’s character. Your Hx with someone says how well you know them. It’s based on specifc moments or episodes in your shared past. Your Hx with them, written on your character sheet, says how well you know them; theirs with you, on their sheet, says how well they know you. It doesn’t say how long you’ve known them, how much you like them, how positive your history together has been, or anything else necessarily, just how well you get them. If your Hx with somebody is negative, that means that you really don’t know them and can’t predict what they’ll do. Thus, you can’t effectively help them OR screw them over. Hx is asymmetrical - My character might know yours Hx+2, but yours might know mine Hx-1, or whatever.

SESSION END

  • At the end of every session, choose a character who knows you better than they used to. If there’s more than one, choose one at your whim. Tell that player to add +1 to their Hx with you on their sheet. If this brings them to Hx+4, they reset to Hx+1 (and therefore mark experience). If no one knows you better, choose a character who doesn’t know you as well as they thought, or choose any character at your whim. Tell that player to take -1 to their Hx with you on their sheet. If this brings them to Hx -3, they reset to Hx=0 (and  therefore mark experience).

I probably badly worded what I meant but yes. If we don't answer questions, we only >become< +1hx on the question asker's sheet. If we do answer someone (and win that one slot in their question) then it gets them hx toward us in their playbook. I know this much. But assuming that I didn't answer anything, I'd just be a +1hx for everyone. All I'm saying.

Of course the point is not to not participate. I just think it's best to not throw myself on a question just because I can. Hence what I mean by waiting for an opportunity. If the question rings well with my character then an answer might ring well with them as well. Likewise, one of my question might ring well with another character to answer it as well... :P

This is how I see it, anyhow. I'm not in this to win score but to see how well I can do at it and to have fun doing it. The hx stuff is new to me as well but I think it will be fine once we get something going... I'm not even sure how the whole process of building things will work out yet. I know it's not DnD so I'm just along for the ride. (With a cute character)

I guess I approach it from the complete opposite perspective - jump on a question, see how the answer changes my idea of who my character is, let it help define something about them that I maybe didn't expect. Giving my character several viewpoints, past actions, and desires that oppose each other gives them internal conflict, and that just makes them more fun to play, especially when it's something that surprises me. I like when my characters surprise me, or did something in the past that doesn't seem to fit who I think they are. People do fucked up shit for weird (and sometimes no) reasons... sometimes they don't even know why. Giving my character something like that, leaving Kiyo bleeding and not helping when I didn't originally plan her to be that heartless... that's something. Why did she do that? Why wouldn't she have helped? There had to be a reason. She's not heartless, nor does she dislike Kiyo. So something else put her in a position where she felt it was more important to complete the mission than to help Kiyo. Now I have something about my character that doesn't fit, and a potential conflict with Kiyo later. Juicy! I love that kind of thing. It challenges my ideas about my character, and that makes her more fun to play.

(That's my view on it, anyway, your mileage may vary.)

I’m probably approaching my character with a mix of the two.  I have some idea what I’m looking with Leon as a lion man, but still figuring out what being a Brainer really means.  I’m at least open to answering most questions, but giving others a chance to answer first.  Some fit better than others, like Kiyo answering my previous question means it would make sense to answer hers’ now, but giving others a chance to answer before jumping on it.

Well, let's find out, shall we, Violetta?

Kiyo, what was the situation when Violetta left you bleeding? How did you come to be bleeding?

Kiyo and her crew (essentially her second family that she'd been running with for a few years since having lost her original family) were on a job protecting what was supposed to be a shipment of medical supplies destined for one of the few relatively safe havens within the world. Supposedly goody two-shoes sort of stuff, but then Kiyo didn't manage to check what was in the shipment herself, so who knows what it actually might have been. Whatever it was, it was enough for another crew to hit her crew in transit. They were ambushed. Her crew was all but wiped out, probably not without a good fight but even so. Kiyo was the sole survivor on her side (yet again, and yet again with the guilt of her family's sacrifices to at least give her a way out). She didn't look so great and was left to perish.

The specifics of that conflict, well, I think Violetta's imput would be good to have on that. Did Violetta kill any of Kiyo's crew? Did she put one (or more) bullets in Kiyo?

Also I imagine their meeting up again when they inevitibly found themselves running together on this same crew was probably at least somewhat amusing, if not at least quite tense for a bit. I wonder what pushed them into the same group together. Would Violetta even remember Kiyo? It's possible that any ill feelings are one-way.

So, Violetta, Kiyo and her crew got murked while on a sketchy escort job. How do you fit in all this? Were you part of the crew that smoked them? Lucky opportunist who happened upon the carnage and scored some jingle-jangle off the cargo and corpses? Something else entirely?

Someone not named Kiyo or Violetta where was that cargo coming from, where was it going and what was it, really (unless Violetta knows)?

I dunno if I should find it funny or not that a brainer wants to build a harem. Would have been easier as a hocus or something. XD "What kind of harem are we talking about?" "Harem of brains". *noped out of there, whatever that means.*. At the same time, I should not question the logic of a post apocalyptic world with brain power... I bet it makes sense to them.

Which one of you has fought shoulder to shoulder with me? I'll be marking Hx+2 for them.

Whether it is related or not to my own question, I did and some bad boys needed the stun gun treatment for not being nice. Get stun, get shot. Probably deserved it?

It was tempting.  Those were the two I was wrestling between the most.  But with the other club (hopefully temporarily) on pause, the desire the explore the telepathic side, with a new twist for this sort of setting, won out.  The harem thing was mostly like Chiyako guessed, a side effect of the male and multiple female characters, even if it is only really 3 he has a chance of setting that up with and it remains to be seen if/how successful he is.

He can try with Phina Cassia whatever (Still trying to figure what rings better in my brain. XD) if he wants but he might not like the stun gun. OR he will and laugh it out like the joker. I don't know how scary he is or not. Funny we speak of sex though. I have no idea if sexual attraction is a thing my character actually thinks about... I mean, maybe.

Like, I don't know if she thinks in moments of calm about who she might want to do it with. (Out of fantasies or the likes). But yeah, being a female character, she can still be a target of the male gaze. Now, whether a male gets their way with her or not well... They can try and find out what skills she has as a healer. Angel can mean lots of things.

P.S.: Even if I did answer chiyako, which could happen, hx are one way, not two way. Even if I had hx+3 with them, doesn't mean they have that number with me. I might like or not mind them but they could hate me somehow. So again, I don't think who answers the questions matter "much", as long as there's one character per question asked. Right?

correct! my character is a great example of this since i dont ask any questions, i just more or less copy leons answer list and give him a +2 hx, technically if i never answer any of his questions he barely knows who i am but conversly jasmine consiers him more or less in charge of her :D

...I dont get that either tbh... but i definitely dont want to be the one who distrusts him so im holding off of leons first question

@WritesNaughtyStories as for my sheet not being posted proper yet, i had several questions in the sheet post itself (what i needed to do about the weapons, what followers, gangs, an vehicles/war vehicles entailed) and i was waiting for info

@Chiyako I can potentially see jasmine having fought side by side with kiyo... the catch there is it was part of the same misunderstanding between her and leon, and was not "actually" a fight. well leon was being a bit awkward and cute in jasmines eyes, he was a threat in kiyos, and jasmine played into that well getting her away from the situation, music got involved as a way to try and break the tension and kiyos memories of that day were a LOT more intense then they actually were, what with jasmines music having supernatural elements to it. if that sounds good?

she is a freaky bitch for sure, its probably one of those "if the mood calls for it" kind of things for her

Violetta was sent after the fact. Whoever hired Kiyo's crew found out too late to warn them that an ambush was planned. Violetta was the contingency, sent to get the shipment back no matter the cost. She found Kiyo's crew dead or bleeding out. There wasn't time to help the sole survivor, and she wasn't the mission nor was medicine her specialty, anyway. She did what she does best - hunted down the crew that ambushed Kiyo, killed them all, and got the cargo back. By the time she came back to let Kiyo know that she didn't need to seek vengeance, Kiyo was gone.

Violetta was never told and never cared what was in the shipment. Her only job was the take out the ambush crew. What was being delivered and whether it would help or hurt others wasn't her concern. She only returned to let Kiyo know that her ambushers were all dead out of professional courtesy.

Right now I do have marked down that Seraphina answered my question about fighting shoulder to shoulder, but I'll let Seraphina and Jasmine decide which would rather have answered that question.

@IsabellaRose Also that fits quite well to me! Kiyo maybe holds a bit more of a grudge over it than she should but hopefully she will someday appreciate the professional courtesy. A good reason why they haven't come to blows, yet Kiyo still not quite trusting Violetta, or understanding her as a person.

Violetta, how many fuckers were left for you to chop down after they took out Kiyo's crew? Kiyo and her girl Rubble were both fair badass, they must have put up some kind of a fight with the rest of their crew.

Kiyo, can you tell us about Rubble?

Leon, what was in that shipment and how did you find out?

Jasmine, who was the message that Violetta delivered for? Who sent it?

Seraphina, someone survived Violetta's punishment. Who? Are they still alive or did they slither off to die in the arms of a lover? If they're alive, did you help them or is there some other powerful healer out there? If they died, how? Who knows their tale?

There were nearly twenty of them when they ambushed Kiyo, half as many when Violetta caught up to them. She picked them off one by one as they camped for the night. She didn't do it clean, leaving them to bleed out. That was the job: get the cargo back, make the bastards who did it suffer, make sure it's obvious they suffered, so no one thinks to try it again.

Rubble was a big mean looking lady with a real steely face! People called her Rubble because she wore these makeshift armor plates that were crafted from the tall stone ruins, so she looked like rubble. It let her be sneaky even though she was real big! Also she was really strong and used big weapons that made things explode and leave behind a lot of rubble. Her favorite was a big hammer she named Penelope. Kiyo could never lift it herself. It was real heavy. Most people thought she was scary, but not Kiyo. She was really nice to Kiyo and let Kiyo ride on her shoulders, and she would spoil Kiyo lots and even gave Kiyo leftovers all the time cause she said Kiyo had to eat more to grow more. Kiyo only lived because Rubble shielded her from heavy gunfire after Kiyo got hit.
