Beatrix walks around with her head held high as they did in fact not have to run away with their tails between their legs and in fact went even further than simply retrieving the livestock lost to the farmers. It seems like the two of them is getting along better than she initially thought, even if it is quite more silly than what she is used to. The paladin order is pretty serious business most of the time, so this is kind of a relief from that sort of attitude, really. She does wonder why he would ask her such a thing, but if he is treating her, then she is not one to say 'no' without good reason to do so."I could use a nice meal indeed. Swinging hammers and all does heighten the appetite. These muscles could get....egg-hausted, after all", she says, continuing the line of puns

Florence couldn't help but chuckle gently as they approached the farmstead once they crossed through the foliage of the woods, still maintaining this sturdy and gentle grip on the poultry. Given how sudden their teamup seemed to actually be, they were certainly getting along quite swell. It was as if Florence could really relax around her, rather than having to act like he needed to have his head on his shoulders at all times like back at the academy, so as to not give off the impression that he wasn't willing to learn. "Very true. And after the workout that big bird put us through? I'm sure we'll need an egg-stra large helping." would he chuckle yet again.

Posted

"Haha...allright, I think that might be the end of the puns. At least for the time being. Let us get paid and then take a much needed break", she answers him back just before they reach the farm. There the two of them return the livestock and are told that the payment is coming from the guild as they do charge a small fee as they serve as the middle men on these jobs. Still, they are offered a few items for them also taking care of the cockatrice, even if the farmer is slightly disturbed by the "trophy" that Beatrix is still in possession of.

Florence at the very least aimed to put on a bright smile for the more than likely disturbed farmer who had put up the notice, assuring him that none of the poultry had been injured during the cockatrice chase, just more than likely shook and mildly traumatized. Nothing some luxury grains couldn't fix, surely. With the modest, yet still sizeable bounty planted in the minotaur's palm, the pair would bid the farmers adieu as they would begin their march back to the guild village.

"...you know, miss Beatrix," Florence began as they were trekking up the hill, "when we first set off today, I... well, I was worried that it was going to be a rather rough and tumble venture, that... neither of us would want to talk about once it was all said and done." His head shifted to glance back down at the armored goblin, smiling rather brightly. "But if I might speak my mind... I am glad that we got to be partners. We work well together." he hummed, as earnestly as he could. If nothing else, he was far more confident about the impromptu partnership now than ever.

OOC: should I be the storyteller for the next job?

After being paid, they divide the coin, Beatrix trying not to insist on getting a bigger share for doing a bigger part of the task. There is no reason to lose a partner due to this and it probably is more profitable in the long run."It was rough and tumble...at least physically. You pulled your weight, so there is nothing to complain about for me. So far, it seems to be advantageous for us to team up, so I see no reason to end that. Nice work, Florence", she answers him as she pockets her money.

Posted

(OOC: Sounds like a plan.)

As he would count his share and stuff it in a decorative satchel, Florence would smile a bit sheepishly as he rubbed his neck. "Well, it was the least I could do, trying my best to keep up with you. You're a good partner, Miss Beatrix." he hummed, before he would set his hands together as he hummed lightly, yet deeply. "So then, before our next mission as a team... I think two things are in order. First, a meal. And then... a team-name." His smile couldn't be brighter as he looked back at the goblin paladin. "All the most notorious and legendary adventuring parties had a name for their team, even just duos. I think we could really make it big, Miss Beatrix, so... how do you feel about a name for the group?"

Posted

Beatrix follows Florence still, as they walk back to the capital town of the land, eager to make their success known to the guild clerk so their first job is marked as done and paid for. 'He seems very talkative again' is the first thought that crosses her mind, but she is getting used to it little by little. The first part she can definitely agree to as she loves food and can devour quite a lot, despite her size. Of course, the amount she trains each day helps explain her large appetite. She offers him a soft nod at his words."Well, would you expect anything less from an esteemed paladin? I didn't get my title from lying on my back, after all. As for a name for ourselves...I am terrible at that. Do you have any ideas?", she replies, not really caring much to give the impression she found it a bit silly. If it made him happy, then it wouldn't bother her.

Florence would hum the faintest bit as he was given the task of thinking up some manner of name for the fledgling duo that he and Beatrix formed. As his hooves trudged lightly against the trail they walked along, he would hum and ponder with an inquisitive look to him. "Hmm..." After a while more of pondering, he would snap his fingers with a light breath. "Oh! Perhaps, something along the lines of... Heaven's Might?" He'd look enthusiastically to Beatrix at that point, hands clasped together with an almost whimsical glow to them. "See, it works because you're a paladin so you would obviously fill in the 'heaven' part given the guidance of your gods, but then I was thinking 'might' would work out better than something like say 'wrath' or 'fury' since I'm not really that aggressive but the power I wield may serve the heavens well and--"

And so it seemed like it would continue as Florence's enthusiasm was bleeding out into a steady stream of words regarding the functionality of this hypothetical team-name, up until they would reach the tavern. It seemed very clear that whatever Florence was, at the end of the day, the prospect of being an inspiring legend seemed quite high on his priorities.

OOC: Do you think this universe should be more monotheistic or have a pantheon instead? Because I kind of imagine her worshipping a deity who is basically the one symbolized by might, honour, pride and such.

Beatrix trots along the minotaur whilst conversing with her new partner, listening to the sort of name ideas he has for their small group. Her expression is rather emotionless at the moment, but does have a slight grin to it as she hears the suggestions."Good ideas, but I am not yet sure about it. We can mull it over until our next mission, I am thinking. It would be bad to be stuck with something we decided on a whim, at least when it comes to something that is meant to represent who we are", she replies and soon begins to spot the capital town ahead.

(OOC: Pantheon sounds like it might be the best option for a fantasy world such as this.)

With the venture to the capital city really capstoned by Florence's enthusiasm towards the prospect of a team name, his eyes lit up as he could see the capital town of the region far ahead of them. Smiling with such a bright disposition, there was a slight skip in his step as he and Beatrix continued their journey towards this looming town. And hearing her comments regarding the team name, he would nod his head. "Oh, I agree." would he muse as he rubbed his hands together. "We are a team, after all. I would never want to supercede any decisions we should make as a collective unit. So no matter what, we'll be unanimous when it comes to things such as our team name. Now, let's see what our next task will be!" Provided nothing veer them horribly away from the capital, of course.

OOC: I think I will name her deity for Akatosh and be a god for strength, honour and war.

Beatrix has a few things to take care of in her cathedral, so she is finding their current time together to be nearly done, with the aforementioned meal seemingly the last part of it. She is thankful to see the tower get closer as they walk, as she is not really huge into the life of the outdoors, unlike many of her brethen. In almost every regard she seems different than her kin, so in a way she does think she understand how Florence might feel about being different than most from his own race."Of course. I did not expect you to hog all of the honour and such. I suggest we come up with 2-3 suggestions each and present them next time we do a job. I only really have my duties in the cathedral to attend to today", she answers him back.

"Right, of course." Florence breathed out with a small nod as he walked alongside Beatrix, looking ahead as the town was slowly coming in closer on their path. "As for me... I'd do well to set up my lodgings here in town. Hopefully I'll find someplace that'll accomodate daily adventures, even if they're menial tasks rather than bold journeys." This was indeed a minotaur who seemed to value decent comforts over the rugged and harsh terrain that most war-abled people of his kin were accustomed to. "But before that, some good food in our bellies will serve as a nice capstone. Anything that suits your holy palate, Beatrix?" would he inquire as he glanced back at the gnome.

Posted

Luckily for Beatrix, she has her own accomodations in the cathedral, but hearing him speak about getting his own reminds her of a different solution for him."I hear that the guild has temporary rooms you can use. Perhaps that would be fitting until you get something more permanent. Surely, we can earn coin enough soon to make you able to get something good....as for what to eat...hmmm...I was thinking something like a grill buffet or steakhouse", she suggests back

Posted

"I suppose a steakhouse could be enjoyable enough." Florence remarked with a slight nod, smiling lightly as he pondered what kind of accomodations might be waiting for him in the future. "Although, I will profess, I don't know my way around the town well enough. Today's only my second day, so I'd need to be shown where a good enough place might be. You seem to have experience around the block, so lead the way, Beatrix." The minotaur smiled quite brightly as he'd stretch out, looking like he was ready for the feast of a lifetime.

The huge town rises rapidly before them and it is not long before they cross past one of the huge gates leading into the country's capital city. Unlike Florence, Beatrix grew up here and is very much familiar with the place and its grand and, sometimes, confusing infrastructure and such. Whilst she doesn't have a huge and firm reputation or name set for herself, she still does dorn the symbol of her faith on her armour. This leads to a few people giving respectful and thankful bows or nods."I can do that. I know a plenty good place. I did grew up here in town, after all", she says and leads them both to a small, but very decent place called "The Flame".

Letting out a slight breath as he followed along after Beatrix, Florence had a relieved look on his face as he wiped his brow. Getting to just make sure he knew where he could go to find a nice place to eat or rest was a relief, and Beatrix having the lay of the town memorized was a boon as well. So as they walked past the people, Florence rubbing his neck as he avoided glancing at others so as to not appear rude, he would look ahead to this quaint place with its logo emblazoned above the door. "The Flame... now this seems like a homely place. I think I'll like it a lot." he mused, smiling back at Beatrix as he would slowly walk to open the door.

Posted

Unlike Florence, Beatrix is more than happy to walk with her head held very high and majestically into the air, feeling even more confident and proud than usual. She has a huge smug grin on her face and walks around like she is almost owning the streets she treads - despite her tiny size. The walk towards this tavern was not too far and soon enough they both arrive. The paladin lets her companion walk slightly ahead to open the door inside."I thought that you might. I come here fairly often. I even have one of the records in there!", she says and grins wide.

The Flame is not massive in size, but it more than makes up for it with its cozy atmosphere, fine quality wooden furniture, classy set-up and all around nice mood and feel. It is not one the cheapest places, but nothing too crazy as it is tucked away some from one of the main roads in town. There are not a lot of customers right now, making it easy to find a place to sit and eat.

As they stepped inside and let the ambience of the locale immerse them, Florence couldn't help but smile somewhat brightly as he'd rub his arm, taking in the rustic atmosphere of the Flame. "Wow... and you're a regular here? I hope they won't mind the company." would he muse as he would step inside, just taking in the scene with as much awe as seemed possible.

The table that Florence picked up on immediately seemed almost too good to be true; a window seat giving a relatively nice view of the parts of town visible to them, as well as being relatively close to the tavern's hearth. As he seated himself, Florence would reach to push another chair back just enough for Beatrix to have room to sit without needing to move the chair herself. Not that he doubted her ability to move it herself, but he was a courteous sort. "So what's your usual favorite on the menu here, Beatrix?"

Posted

She gives him an odd look and raised eyebrow at such an uncertain attitude."Hey there! Did we or did we not thump a massive evil beast today? They should be thrilled to have great warriors like us in here to begin with, hahaha", she says out loud and with her usually heavy gusto and self confidence. She then sits down on the chair presented to her, though without really addressing the courteous act made towards her."My favourite? Oh, that's eeeeasy peasy! Definitely the meat andmead combo extraordinare! Basically, ad libitum stuffing until you are sated!", she explains.

Posted

"Meat-and-mead combo extraordinaire?" There was a look of intrigue in Florence's eyes as Beatrix made this claim, made more apparent with a faint glimmer of pride from their accomplishments this day when Beatrix brought them up. With a brighter look to him, the minotaur would regard his goblin companion a resounding nod as he took his seat properly, looking rather pumped as he'd nod his head with some growing intrigue. "Well, if it's your recommendation, Beatrix... I'd love to give it a shot!" would he utter, nodding excitedly and eagerly.

Posted

"Hehehe! I knew you would be excited for it. Who doesn't love meat or mead? Savages...I would wager or whimps!", she says with great energy still, setting down her large hammer against a corner in the wall, making a loud THUMP noise as the massive blunt instrument of death and doom hits the floor. Since they have not had time to do much else, she is still in her custom made heavy and thick full plated armour. She gives a silent and acknowledging to the last comment since they are soon met with a waiter, who then proceeds to take their order."So...what do you suggest we do for our next job?", she asks curiously.

Posted

After making the order, Florence would lean back in his seat for a moment, tapping his chin as he would ponder the question posed. "Well, let's see..." he mused as he pondered through it. "...given that our first job involved the woodlands, it could be good to get a gauge of a different environment. Maybe some kind of job along the coast? Oh, or up in the mountains!" He'd smile brightly as he set his hands together, giving Beatrix a solitary nod. "Though what the task should be is up in the air, too. Escort, body-guarding. maybe even a deliberate monster quelling?"

Posted

Soon enough, both of them are given the first mugs of hot and sweet mead to start things off and Beatrix is quick to draw heavy chugs from her own as Florence speaks."Well, perhaps we should go with what will provide huge amounts of respect, money and glory! As long as I get to smash stuff with the mighty hammer, I am good, really!", the goblin paladin chuckles heartily and genuinely, followed by a burp after drinking the heated alcohol.

Posted

Florence let out a tiny chuckle at seeing Beatrix's heated and intense declaration, taking a light sip from his own mug of mead as he listened to her. Letting the taste linger for a moment, a breath of elation fled his lips before he'd nod his head. "Well, I hope the guild has something that involves both of those available. Given that we just started today, they might be a bit stingy with missions." he mused, before arching his neck back to just about empty his tankard in one single glug, slamming it right back down with a deep and satisfied belch. The goblin's example did have him inspired as well. "But if it gets us closer to being recognized as serious adventurers, I am for whatever our path finds for us!"

Posted

Beatrix is not slow to her food either as she digs in, whenever there is a natural pause in their conversation or anything like that. Already now, her mouth is slightly smudged with grease and small pieces of food."We won't take 'no' for an answer! We can do anything and we do it great! The good missions come to those who show initiative, presence and results!", she says with great gusto and even gives him a hearty thumbs-up. As the mug is emptied, a waitress is quick to come over to refill it right away."I am sure we will do fine and well if we show our capabilities", she says and takes a few big chugs of her mug and while she cannot do it one like Florence, it is still quite a lot when you consider her size.
