"I see... Well, this is really money where I come from, but I should've known it wouldn't be recognized here..."

Yazawa takes back his money with a sigh, about to turn and walk away when he heard the shopkeeper address a "Lady Alice". Yazawa turns and looks at Alice, now being followed by two guards. He watches in curiosity as she purchases two apples and then extends one that he takes tenderly from her hand to try and keep from alarming either of the guards standing behind her. He looks down curiously at the apple before returning his attention to the red-haired girl standing in front of him.

"I am a bit hungry, thank you... But I'm not from Grutia... I don't even know where that is... If you don't mind me asking, are you a princess? Didn't really get to talk much to you before you ditched me while I was looking at the castle."

Yazawa gives a soft chuckle before wiping the apple on the front of his shirt and taking a small bite of it. He starts to salivate at the taste of the sweet, succulent juices of the fruit drip into his mouth and he quickly takes another bite to ease the rumbling in his stomach. He looks up at Alice and gives her a small smile after making sure that his lips and chin were clean of any juices and swallowing the two bites of apple

"Anyways... Er, thank you. For the apple. If there's something I can do to pay you back, just let me know. Since I can't pay you back with my money..."

Alice looked at Yazawa as if she had no idea what he was talking about.  "I am sorry, but I believe this is our first meeting.  I am Alice, princess of Tridian." Alice said, but before she could say anything else, one of the men in armor walked over and put a hand on her shoulder.  "Lady Alice, we should be going soon." the man said.  Alice gave the man a simple nod before returning her attention to Yazawa.  "You do not need to pay me back for the apple." Alice simply replied, thinking for a moment before handing the apple in her other hand to Yazawa.  "You must still be hungry, so please, take this one too.  I must be going now.  It was a pleasure to meet you." Alice added with her usual smile before she started to walk away with the two men.

"First meeting? Do you not remember..."

Yazawa watches as one of the guards places his hand on Alices shoulder before informing her that they should be going. He takes the other apple gentle with a small "Thanks..." before watching dumbfoundedly as she and the guards start to walk off. Just who was this girl? She seemed normal just mere moments ago, but just now, she seemed like she didn't remember their encounter before she ditched him while he was looking at the castle.

"It was... Nice to meet you too, Miss Alice."

Yazawa looks at the apple and slowly walks away from her, turning into an alley and using his fire magic to leap onto the rooftops. He tracks her with his eyes instead of his nose this time, making sure to keep an eye on the two guards who stood out most from the crowds. He scarfed down the already partially eaten apple before stuffing the other one in the inside pocket of his coat

'Why is he still wandering around here?  If only that client didn't want him kept alive, I would've left him to die back in the forest.  The less he knows, the better.' Alice thought to herself while she walked around with the guards close behind her.  She had no real destination, choosing to just watch people and see how the general situation was.  From the sound of what she heard from the one shopkeeper, because of the strange monsters roaming around in the forest, new wares were hard to come across.  She couldn't go and speak to her usual client while being followed by the castle guards, so she decided to wait until she could have some time alone.  After wandering around, listening in on conversations, she returned to the castle along with the guards.

Yazawa watched her until she left for the castle, sitting atop the closest rooftop and starting to eat the other apple. He takes a few bites before hopping down when nobody is looking and starts to walk towards the castle

"She told me that I should head over here anyways... Maybe someone at the castle could get me back home..."

Yazawa sighs softly and finishes the apple rather quickly, finding himself not rather thirsty next. He completely ignores it and keeps walking, finding himself at a closed castle gate with guards stationed on top of it. There's no way he'd be able to fly over, so he decides to wave at on of the guards instead, to get their attention

"Um, hello! I was told by someone that I should come here for something regarding exactly how I got here"

The two guards looked down at Yazawa, the man giving him a cold glare while the woman simply watched to see what he would do depending on how they responded.  "Have you hit your head or something?  You obviously came from Grutia, you filthy demihuman.  Why would you show your face around here?" the man coldly replied only to be shouted at by the woman.  "That's enough, Crane!" the woman shouted at him before turning her attention to Yazawa.  "What exactly do you mean by "how" you got here?  In appearance, you seem a lot like a Grutian demihuman, but there is something off about you." the woman asked.  "There isn't anything weird about him, Olivia.  He's just another half monster like the rest of the demihumans." Crane said only to get glared at again by the female guard.

Yazawa scowls in distaste at the name of "demihuman" being spat at him in a clearly discriminatory manner. He shakes his head softly and gives a sigh before looking up at the woman as she speaks. She was definitely more mild-mannered than the man, who seemed to have a severe grudge on the Grutian demihumans and monsters that he had heard so much about. He watches the man, now revealed to be named Crane, retort to Olivia before getting another glare from her.

"Actually, I'm not from Grutia, wherever that is. I'm from a place called New York, and I got sucked through a portal into the streets of this city."

Yazawa tries to explain his situation clearly, hoping that that is how he comes off when he finishes talking. His tail waves nervously behind him, hoping that the two would believe him, but he felt that the possibility wasn't very likely with all of this information coming from a complete stranger.

"Hold on a moment!" Olivia suddenly said after hearing Yazawa's story.  "You say you were sucked into a portal in this mysterious "New York" place?" Olivia asked again for clarity before turning towards Crane.  "Go and inform the king right away, Crane." Olivia said.  "Why should we let a filthy demihuman like this in the castle?  You know the king will have our jobs if this is a false alarm and I need the money right now!" Crane argued.  "There's no time for debating this, Crane!  If this guy is actually the legendary hero, there may still be a chance to save people." Olivia said.  "We don't even know if his story is true!  He could be lying to us!" Crane shouted back.  Olivia gave him a cold glare in response to this.  "All the more reason we hear his entire story, and in front of the king, he'd be in no position to lie.  Unless you want more victims like your wife and son, go and inform the king right now!" Olivia replied, finally raising her voice and making Crane tense up.  He bit his lip and finally gave up, turning around and heading inside the castle in a hurry.

Yazawa watches in a bit of confusion as Olivia suddenly begins to get worked up and tell Crane to inform the king that Yazawa had arrived. He watches them bicker between each other for a few more minutes before catching something about Crane's wife and son being victimized by these Grutian monsters. His ears twitch softly as he watches Crane seem to shut down and hurry off into the castle.

"Wh... What happened to his wife and son?"

Yazawa feels like he already knows the answer, but needs some clarity as to what happened. Based on what he heard, he feels like he can justify Crane's seeming hatred for demihumans, which isn't something that Yazawa feels very often. He looks up at Olivia, noting that he actually hadn't heard her raise her voice until that last bit about Crane's family.

Before Olivia could respond, the castle gate slowly opened up, revealing the inside.  The castle itself was made of white bricks with flags of a white tiger on a shield waved carelessly from the light wind.  A small garden was a short distance ahead, near the castle's front entrance.  Guards and various workers in the castle passed by every so often, some of which seemed to be in a hurry, likely from Crane going to inform the king of Yazawa's arrival.  "One of the guards inside will escort you to the throne room." Olivia simply said, making her way into the castle herself.

Yazawa nods as he watches the gate opening and watching some of the people hurrying around what seems to be a beautiful garden. He looks around before looking up to see Olivia leaving towards the castle in almost the same manner that Crane had done. However, her movements weren't angry and hesitant. Yazawa listens to what she says before leaving and nods.

"I-I guess I'll wait right here, then..."

Yazawa enters the gate and leans against one of the walls as he waits for a guard to come and escort him to the throne room, hopefully one that wasn't as begrudging as Crane. Even though he doesn't blame Crane at all for his disposition to demihumans and monsters, it doesn't mean that he accepts being treated that way as appropriate.

It took a few minutes before someone had finally been sent to retrieve Yazawa.  Instead of any of the other guards, Olivia herself had been sent to escort him.  She was a few feet shorter than he was with short golden blonde hair.  Like most of the guards, she was armed with a single sword.  "I've been sent to escort you to the throne room.  Come with me.  Besides, you wanted to know about what happened to Crane's family, right?  I'll tell you on the way." Olivia said, turning around and starting to walk away while she explained what she knew about Crane's situation.  "If I remember correctly, it was about three months ago.  Crane got time off and went on a trip with his family to a small fishing village near the border.  While they were there, the place was attacked by odd demihumans.  I don't know exactly what he saw, but all I know is what he told me.  Demihumans attacked the village and slaughtered his wife and son.  He was powerless to stop it.  A lot of incidents like that have been happening lately.  Mages from Grutia have been attacking and killing people too.  I can't imagine what the hell is going on over there.  I was born in those lands." Olivia explained, walking down a long hallway with various paths and paintings on the walls.  Instead of normal torches to provide light at night, lanterns with odd red stones were lined up along the walls.  "If you want all the details on that incident, the only person who could give you the full story is the man who saw it all himself.  Even so, I don't think he'd talk about it." Olivia continued, stopping in front of a large set of doors.
