Black Crusade Reboot Gameplay Thread!

Segmir had pondered the response from Patricia @JennyDK unaware who exactly asked her, he assumed one of the sorcerer's in question but in a way it pleased him. A heretek was already good to have but to know she was deep into her work meant she should give good results to anything she touched, aside from the social aspect, it seemed Patricia would be helpful in his honest opinion

However Sanakht @Solomondrew his attention away with a question about the bike. Segmir pondered but nodded "It can bypass walls due to running through another space, the con however is that I will only get half a second to see what is on the other side until I am on the other side. The limitation to my bike is roughly 5 jumps until the whole vessel begins to heat up rapidly intent on taking itself back to the warp afterwards, I am to assume it will either destroy me or cast me into the warp somewhere else entirely if I go beyond that limit."

Sergeant Urial Mensh of the Blood Angel's Chapter stood upon the heavy rockcrete observation tower protruding from the prefab Imperial base below and gazed out over the thick rolling treetops of the Jungle that surrounded the Armory and Depot. A battered and worn veteran now in charge of a single Tactical squad Urial had been through several intense wars and had the scars to prove it. Unlike the handsome Battle Brothers in his squad his face looked like it had been torn apart several times then roughly stitched back together, which honestly wasn't far from the truth. Urial had face Orks, Tyranids and the very Daemons of Chaos and lived to tell about it. He was an excellent warrior but not exceptional like the Champions and Captains of his Chapter.

The depot was there to help supply and resupply the Blood Angels currently involved with the Imperial Crusade into the Orpheus Sector to destroy the Dark Empire of the Queen of Blood and her arch heretics.

Urial didn't like guard duty but he would defend this base with his life if it came to it.

The Nightborne Conqueror , despite it's massive size, is a stealthy ship. Within the onion like layers of it's heat resistant ceramite and near invincible Adamantium armor are thin layers of Auspex resistant dead metals of unknown origin.

The Blood Angels are blind to the ship as it skims the curve of the planet and fires off a series of drop pods down at the planets surface like angry torpedoes.

Ruva had begun her life as a Legionnaire aboard Drop Pods and Stormbirds that assaulted the worlds to be brought into compliance by the Night Lords. She had always thrilled at the bone crushing violence and screaming roar of the break-neck descent through the atmosphere and this trip was no different. She had strapped into the Misericorde restraints at the assault door and watched the count down to impact on the pilot servitor's data slate.

She braced for impact when she felt the pods braking jets fire although it made no difference the impact dampeners would allow them all to survive virtually any impact that didn't destroy the Pod itself. The Drop Pod still slammed into the jungle floor at near terminal velocity and the assault ramp slammed open as the restraints released and Ruva stepped forward. The trajectory had been true and the data good - less than a hundred meters away the walls of Blood Angels' outpost could be seen rising among the verdant green foliage.

The drop pod had thrown up a rim of the soft, dark loam of the forest floor around the steaming crater its impact had caused. Ruva scrambled up the crater wall and peered over the rim before she burst down its exterior face, Force Sword drawn in one hand and Bolt Pistol in the other.

This is one of few times Patricia has been in a drop pod and it still very unpleasant and not fun for her, so she mostly shakes all over from the trip and of course the impact. Lightly shaken, she unstraps herself and exits the pod to follow the others, whom she has yet to know the names of. If they need to talk to her or get her help with something, surely they will ask her. Luckily, her machine-like body quickly readjusts and she is soon fully mobile and ready to move on. She goes behind the woman in rather gruesome looking armour @WritesNaughtyStories."Do I need to do anything before we get inside?", she asks, hoping there might be interesting tech along the way.

The drop pod fell across the sky, the fallen in utter silence during the course until Segmir could feel the impact of flamed metal striking earth. The doors would open with Segmir removing himself from the straps, unbuckling the bike as he swung his armored leg over then with a rev of the engines took ahead from one of the craters to give room to his fellow forces. The walls with blood angel insignia were seen ahead as the fallen space marine kept an eye out for any possible scouts or skull servos.

Once in a better spot out of the crater behind the nature of the planet Segmir began looking ahead with binocs, there he could see a couple of tactical Marines watching over the outposts, a couple turrets armed with heavy bolters, along with guardsmen most likely to fill out a couple empty spots. Not a bad defense but standard, Segmir turned on the plasma talons on his bike the weapons giving off a green soft glow with a hum to the engines. His plan was simple, rush the wall, jump into it and remove the main power batteries on the other side to leave the wall with less defense. If the librarian intended to use illusions it could give him the cover he needed to get close. That was if the others had a similar plan, otherwise he would have to adapt to the changes of the battlefield. Segmir was eager though with another skirmish to the blood angles always filled him glea to put down the sons of Sanguinius.

Ruva grabbed the Heretek by the arm are moved her to just behind her on the left, "For now, stay there - we may need you much sooner than you think - I'd rather not waste time breaking through the door."

She looked at the woman briefly, "Do not get shot if you can avoid it. Leave that to the Legionnaires."

The Night Lords Librarian surged forward, a hissing, foul wind blowing so cold and dry before her that water vapor condensed out of the moist jungle air. When she was in range the sorceress focused her mind and unleashed the torture of a Foul Cage on one of the gun crews. The Aether opened up a hudred tiny portals from which sprung chains, hook and barbs that entangled the mortal gun crew. They began to scream as the warp spawned trap held the fast and began to rend their flesh.

One veteran sergeant managed to escape the flailing hell and managed to fire a poorly armed burst of bolter fire that sent gouts of detonated earth spraying into the air only feet from the sorceress. Ruva, a veteran of more combat than the entire outpost combined had seen, marched confidently forward, "And now the screaming starts." She said with terrifying glee, the boots of her power armour making wet noises in the soft jungle earth as she advanced.

In all honestly, Patricia is not really a huge fan of screaming, blood and violence. Of course, this is a huge part of every day for most soldiers and the like and she has seen her share of it as well, but that doesn't mean she has to like it. So she takes cover the best she can and of course try to avoid any injuries. She bring forth one of her minor robots which has a camera attached to it. She sets up the connection to her left eye, which acts as different ways to get visuals on things and now she may send it forth to get a better look if needed.

Sanakht had always hated drop pods. They were such an inelegant way to get to the surface of a planet in comparison to Thunderhawks or teleportation. He sensed the minds of the others feeling that Ruva's excitement for the mission and  being hurled at a planet at terminal velocity in a metal can. Well at least someone was happy.

After the jarring impact Sanakht unstrapped himself. Then began helping the Heretek out of her pod. He swore under his breath as Ruva and Segmir took off. Then cast a spell allowing the group to communicate mentally +Now we can coordinate without having to worry about vox frequencies.+ Sanakht pulled a small mirror out of a pouch as he ran over to where Segmir was observing the enemy. He placed a hand upon the bike and let his mind touch the warp. He spooled the possibilties surrounding the fallen and his bike and bound their images into the mirror. He handed the mirror over. +Break this when you wish to have the illusions.+

Ruva began her assault on a crewed gun emplacement. Sanakht seeing her fervor uses Warptime to quickly catch up to his pupil while conjuring a whip of warp flame and using it to sever a heavy bolter turret from the wall.

Segmir nodded to the sorcerer as he handed the mirror. Watching the scene unfold before him as Ruva started the battle, that was his que. With the sudden distraction and mirror he revved the bike propelling forward as he neared the wall. With another jolt his bike glowed into hellfire, his body shifting like shadow until it shifted into a ball of flame disappearing soon after from once it stood by the wall.

It was unpleasant everytime. Jumping into the warp and out felt like a long hour of emotions, screams, smaller demonic voices to tear him off course until he felt the shift of the warp pulling him back into reality.

On the other side a fireball came to life for a bike to rush past the flame, plasma rounds going off into the unsuspecting guardsmen and marine alike with a sudden whiff the helm of a blood angel bursting open like red mist. Segmir knew his objective as he pushed deeper into the outpost mapping out the distinct generators for power. Another volley of plasma fire struck causing a large explosion within the vicinity, Segmir's bike roaring as it turned around as his power armor could feel the heat of both explosive and bolter fire as the blood angels chased their intruder. Segmir raised the mirror crushing it between his armored hand for the illusion to take effect. He would have to thank the librarian later. If not for the illusion he would not have been able to get good distance on his attackers as he began returning to the wall his allies fought on to give any support they most likely did not need.

The Blood Angels in their blood red armor respond quickly and with great coordination as the series of bunkers that made up the base fell under surprise assault. With three dozen Guardsmen and half a dozen heavy bolter emplacements the base would be considered well defended for it's size even without the presence of the Blood Angel Astartes but against the power of this assault it was obvious they were severely outmatched.

Veteran Sergeant Urial, armed with a bolt pistol and chain sword, charged at the female Astartes Sorceress, wise enough to know to cut down psykers first if you get the chance to stop their terrifying powers. His shots went wide despite his normally good aim and he cursed as he knew the Sorceress would have a chance to respond before he met her in hand to hand combat.

As Rage emerges from the Drop Pod he finds he actually slammed inside the compound itself! A pair of Blood Angels with Bolters open fire on him the moment he disembarks but his thick terminator plate protects him, at least for now, the mass reactive bolts exploding on the thick surface of his warplate without penetrating.

Sanakht continued following Ruva and noting the detonation of the generator in the distance. +Excellent work Segmir. What is your status? @Guroda+ He stops to look back at the turret he severed +Heretek @JennyDK I severed a heavy bolter turret from the wall (he sends the image as well) you may be able to get it working if you wish.+ Some bolt shells fly through the jungle, about where he would have been had he followed Ruva more closely. He turns to observe the Blood Angel Sergeant. +@WritesNaughtyStories I assume you would like to take this one alive?+

Rage bathed the Blood Angel pair is super-heated promethium then tore them to pieces with autocannon shells from his rotator cannon, the mini-gun sending large chips of ceramite flying all over the place as it ripped the sons of Sanguineus apart.

Ruva grinned wickedly inside her helmet as the bolts screeched past to detonate in the jungle behind her. She'd begun to focus her will in her Force sword to carve the loyalist fool down when an alternative occurred to her.

She began to wriggle softly into his mind and found what she was looking for easily. It was right there in the surface of his thoughts - the anger at being stationed here, passed over for promotions despite the sacrifices that left him scarred and broken amid the beauty and the growing Red Thirst. It took only the barest whisper to call for the voices and massage the doubts.

She heard Sanakht in her mind, + I suspect he may join us. + she replied.  + See the Heretek, Patrica, to the entrance and get the door open. I will negotiate with our friend, here. +

She dropped the point of her Force Sword to a low ready that looked less threatening and said aloud through her VoxCaster, "I have piled bodies since Sanguinius and Curze killed in the name of the corpse. You need not be among them. Freedom and the reward of your own merit await. This cause is already lost." she said, flicking the point of the glowing blade toward the outpost. "There will be no car collected, no honor earned, no name recorded in far off Baal. There is oblivion or freedom. Choose." She raised the tip of her blade slightly as she whispered doubts to tamp rage down to gnawing resentment. ' Look at him' Came the memory- whether his or hers lost in the sidelong glances of the new initiates who saw only service studs but no badge or rank or honor.

He looks at Ruva before he turns to leave. +The Sons of Sanguinius are not prone to giving in to the warp without significant deception... unless they see it as a sacrifice to save numerous others. Perhaps offer him the healing of his scars. Remain Cautious. Good luck.+

Sanakht began running, quickly crossing the ground in a sprint his sstartes physiology lending him greater speed.  Heading to where he last saw Patricia he sends a thought ahead of his arrival +I am to take you to the gate to open it; I am on my way to you. @JennyDK An incredibly interesting task, I know, but it is a necessity. Unless you wish to be tossed over the wall unceremoniously."

Urial would never betray the Emperor or his Chapter on his own, but when Ruva's powerful mind wormed into his and exposed and enhanced his resentments and slighted honor he hesitated before her as if he couldn't remember why he wanted to strike her down. Not realizing her projected thoughts were not his and not even aware that the Voxcaster message was from an enemy he stood still a moment, his deepest shames and desires exposed.

Once the coast seems fully clear and no one to shoot at her, at least from what she can sense, she walks over towards the machine that @Solomon pointed towards, pulling out the necessary tools."I have got this mr. armour dude!", she says having no idea what else to call him for now. She looks over the contraption and it is almost too simple to be worth her time and effort. A heavy sigh of reluctance washes past her lips and she roams towards the energy feed which she begins to tinker with and then begin to reroute it through her servitor skull, so that it may corrupt it.

'See how he doubts. There is only a cell among the Lost for him.'

'It is a miracle he passed his initiation.'

Ruva was patient. The universe thought the Night Lords were gruesome, sadistic monsters and they had never done anything to dispel that, but the truth was they were pragmatists - every bit as capable of Alpha Legion's subtlety. Terror was one weapon, patience could be used to enhance it while the enemy's mind did the work for them. Doubt and manipulation were weapons too. And patience was just as valuable.

"In time," she added through the Vox Caster, "Madness awaits as the Rage and Thirst will consume you. They will punish you for your gifts, shame you for your strength. I will embrace it. I remain, where even Sanguinius does not - where is his hand of comfort? His forgiveness? But you do not need forgiveness, do you? You are as they made you, We know, Urial."

She holstered the pistol in her left hand, but quietly prepared to parry should his foolish dedication overcome his wounded pride, and held out her open gauntleted hand to him. She desperately wanted him to take it, if for no other reason than to see his face when he realized she was the worst aberration - a woman.

Urial quietly slide his bolt pistol and chainsword away and took Ruva's hand, seeming hypnotized by the thoughts in his head. The shame that effected his Battle Brothers over their curse had never been as strong in him as in others and he was therefore less compelled to remain loyal because of it. Still, naturally his loyalty would never be shaken but under the powerful sway of Ruva's psychic powers seeds of corruption blossomed in his mind.
