Another chance - Ranna and Kappei

Recommended Posts

Ranna did not say anything immediately.  She just tilted her head in confusion.  Did she hear that right?  Was that his idea of a punishment?  It probably was something she actually would consider a punishment.  It was just so unexpected, she was more surprised than anything and it had not fully registered.  That and she was not certain how serious it was.  She was wondering a little if it was a joke, if he was going to say he was kidding then suggest something worse.  She would not put that past him.  It did not help Reiko had not said anything, suggesting her punishment announcement would come later.

Kappei just sat there, not saying anything, as he watched the little Rangorn girl absorb what he had just told her. Yes, this was actually quite good. She hadn't immediately jumped down his throat or made some offhanded remark meant to insult him. While not his intention at all, the punishment had actually seemed to stun Ranna for a bit. Well, like they said, there was no other time like the present, so he couldn't waste this opportunity.

"This is your first punishment, but your sister will hand you down your second one." He explained, giving Reiko a nod to signal that it was her turn. Not that there was much to say yet anyway. The details of Ranna's second punishment would be dropped on her only after the engagement had been held.

Reiko did not intend to say much at this point.  Better to avoid provoking Ranna, make things easier.  Especially since Kappei still had to actually do Ranna’s hair.  That would be interesting, to see how it went, how difficult Ranna would be.  Reiko could not really guess how it would go.  “Me and Kappei came to agreement on this.  But that is all I will say for now.  I have something in mind, but you will find out what it is later.”  She left it at that, Ranna still had not reacted further, apparently still processing everything that had been said and what was coming.

Kappei had been the one suggesting they wait revealing Ranna's second punishment until after having registered the engagement, but it still sounded weird in his ears when he heard the older Rangorn girl say it. When you heard something like that, your naturaly response would be suspicion, but thankfully Ranna seemed preoccupied with her own thoughts to make an issue of what she had just been told.

"Well, lets leave it at that for now." Kappei declared as he got up again and started taking away the dishes. Ranna hadn't really finished her breakfast and would likely feel hungry later, but Kappei wasn't feeling that he should push the subject. Despite having told the girl that he and Reiko would treat her like a kid if she acted like one, right now wasn't really the best time to tell her to finish her breakfast properly. If he was going to live with Ranna, it would probably come up again, so he would address it then instead.

"Your protection period will have ended tomorrow and you will have your first real classes, so there is a lot of things we need to before then." He explained, starting to wash the dishes after he had scraped of what food had remained on their plates. Reiko might have some classes herself today, but before that he'd have her help him out by bringing Ranna's stuff the the Residential area.

That was of course the problem.  Kappei’s idea of ‘much to do’.  It brought Ranna temporarily out of her haze, but it was him she was watching.  Whether and how he intended to enact his ‘punishment’.  And more dreading what he had planned for later.  In the moment it was less troublesome than what Reiko intended.  With enough time and if not distracted by other things, she might even be able to guess what Reiko intended.

Finishing up the dishes, Kappei turned back around, only to find that Ranna and Reiko were still just sitting there. He supposed he hadn't been clear enough, but he'd hoped that they would have started getting ready to leave the small apartment. Ranna hadn't even put her shoes back on.

"I've got nothing that you can tie your hair up with here. But don't worry, I'll buy you something cute today." He told Ranna, figuring maybe it was something she was wondering about. To him it seemed illogical. Why would he have ribbons or something in his place? He'd buy them when he did all the other shopping. It didn't really matter to him how they looked like though. Today really would be very busy for him. He could move his clothes and other personal belongings to their new shared place tomorrow, but with their engagement registration looming over them as well as making sure that everything went smoothly, he felt a bit stressed.

Reiko had remained still, as she did not as much of a rush to go anywhere.  She was also waiting to see what Kappei did with Ranna before leaving.  She was unsure if her help would required there or not.  Her busy work came after they all left and they all separated from them.

Ranna shot a slightly dirty look, before cautiously backing off and getting ready.  It was not like she had much to do either.  She was very quickly finished getting ready to go.  She was sure it would be something ‘cute’.  How annoying was Kara going to be about this?  The girl was hard to predict, but she could see her misunderstanding what was happening.

As Ranna finished, Reiko stood up and walked towards the door, waiting for him to lead the way out.

Waiting for Ranna and her older sister, Kappei put his jacket and own shoes back on and then opened the door when the two girls were read to leave. Closing the door behind them he lead them down the corridor and then pushed the elevator button. Stepping into the elevator and taking it down to the entrance, he left the male dorm with the two sisters and headed towards the trolley.

"...I guess Kara Spade is a member of your rhythmic gymnastics team, Reiko?" Kappei asked Ranna's sister in a low voice so that only she could hear what he was saying. He had been surprised by the other girl suddenly showing up and acting as if she knew he future fiancee, but thinking about it and later seeing Reiko's reaction he was pretty sure this whole shopping idea he had been told about yesterday had been the older Rangorn sisters idea. He didn't know if it was all that good of an idea, but he understood what Reiko was trying to do here.

Ranna was in her own little world.  Trying to find what little peace she could for a little while, by ignoring the two of them.  Honestly, the longer they talked the better.  The longer Reiko here, the longer she might distract Kappei from doing anything to annoy here.  The danger of them planning something together was there, of course.  But she would accept that, if she was left alone for a little.  They had probably already done the worst of their conspiring anyway.

Reiko nodded to the question.  Answering softly, while realizing Ranna was mostly ignoring them. “Kara is…interesting.  I had originally hoped one of the other girls would be meeting Ranna today.  But since it ended up like this, my hope is both of them can help each other.  Kara has always been rather solitary, cold.  It has been my hope she would up to the club eventually.”

Being a rude little girl aside, Kappei guessed that if he had to describe Ranna he would say she was bit like a rose bush. While all pink and pretty, she had her defenses up all the time and was very prickly. While very different from a person that was just cold towards other people, the end results were pretty much the same, wasn't it? Yes, this was probably what Reiko was thinking, Kappei was sure of it. But she was to idealistic in his opinion. If you put two angry cats in the same room, they didn't become friends because they were similar... they fought!

"You might be right. It is worth a try." Kappei answered diplomatically, as the trolley pulled up in front of them. Allowing for Reiko to get on first, he urged Ranna to hurry and climb up as well before joining the two girls on the train himself. Inside he quickly found the two sisters some empty seats they could sit on while he remained standing himself. The train wasn't fully packed right now, but there was still a fair amount of people riding it and having fun. RIght now there seemed to be something of a blowjob competition, with half-a-dozen boys getting head. Maybe for the first time, Ranna was even treated to the sight of a boy having his dick sucked by another boy.

Reiko was aware that it could backfire.  That was why she had hoped it would be someone else, or three of them.  She was just trying to be optimistic at this point.  It was not impossible, though she did not know how likely it was.  Assuming the worst was not helpful, that was how she looked at it.  It was up to the two of them at this point.  Neither of them actively disliked each other, to the provoking the other at least, but they would have to see if positive progress was made.

The sisters made their way onto the train, and into their seats.  Ranna was still trying to ignore everything, not wanting Kappei to be even more of a pain, after last night.  The two boys made it easier.  She knew she would see something like that sooner or later, but it was not the sort of thing to draw her eyes.  She mostly looked at the floor.

With what had to be a competition still going on around them, Kappei kept a wary eye on what was going on as he kept close to the two sisters. Personally, he couldn't say that he enjoyed the sight of two guys going at it, but he did wonder how Reiko and Ranna felt about it. They were girls after all, so maybe they had some interest in that in the same way that a lot of men enjoyed watching two women having sex with each other. But would this even apply to Ranna, though? Was she even attracted to men? He figured she probably was, but probably was in denial because of how she was a boy too. But now she had a clear view of two boys being in a sexual relationship. Would this remind her of her own situation?

The small train continued down the tracks, and for a little while it seemed that nothing would happen, but then it did. Noticing the two pretty sisters, a guy who wasn't already busy having his cock sucked approached them, undoing his zipper as he did.

"Hey! You available?" he smiled at them, completely unbothered and seemingly sure of himself that the two sisters would be agreeable. Before he could say anything else, though, Kappei stepped in and blocked his view.

"They're with me." He explained, giving the other guy a no-nonsense look. Because of how Ranna had been acting last night, he had failed to properly protect her, but he wasn't going to make the same mistake again, even if it meant that what he was saying and how he acted now might annoy her.

"Both of them?" the other guy asked, sounding both a bit annoyed and miffed at the same time. Clearly, he had aimed at having them both sexually service him, but now he was acting as if Kappei's claim to both of the sisters was both unfair and greedy. But tough luck. Reiko was his best friend, and Ranna was just a little brat. There was no way he would just stand idly by as some random guy just walked up to them and wanted to use them as his personal toilet.

"Yes, both of them." Kappei told him in a more serious tone, making the other guy grimace. The guy glanced at Reiko and Ranna, eyeing them up and down, waiting a bit to see if they were going to agree with the tall guy who was stopping him from getting a blowjob.

Reiko was not bothered by the sight, had watched the two a little, though she was more interested in the boy and girl pairs.  She was not surprised about about the boy coming up to them.  If she was not busy as she was going to be, she might have even been happy to walk off with him and give the other two some peace.  She had plenty of experience with that sort of thing, after all.  Found it fun even.  Though, being 'with Kappei' had certain implications.  She was willing to put up an act to a degree there, but would let Kappei take the lead to the extent he felt was necessary, it was probably better if he did it, if it needed to be taken further.  She played it light for the moment.  Smiling and nodding.  "Yep, we're both with him.  My little sis, here, is just shy and nervous and getting herself mentally ready."  Ranna was still looking at the ground.  It was safer for her to speak up for both of them at the moment.

Kappei let out a small sigh of relief as the other guy finally left. Protecting one girl like this was hard enough, but trying to keep both sisters safe was another level of difficult. It wasn't even as if this was the first time he had protected the older Rangorn sister, either. Back then, when she had been broken, he had been watching her like a hawk. Of course, he hadn't been able to do anything about what was going on in her homeroom. But that had solved itself the next semester as other students had been removed from the school, allowing Reiko to change homeroom. She had reinvented herself and become stronger, but he still remembered how fragile she had been back then.

"I guess you'll just have to sit on my lap from now on if we want to avoid this sort of thing in the future." Kappei muttered in a voice, only loud enough for the two sisters to hear him. It came off as a bit of a joke, but he was actually more than half-serious. It would probably be one of the better ways to avoid other people trying to touch her, and it would be something you'd expect from a betrothed couple. Ranna disliking the idea was a given, but what parts of his plans did she like anyway?

The trolley stopped at two other stations before finally halting for a bit at their destination. Allowing the two girls to walk in front of him, he waited for them to climb down the train before he followed suit.

Reiko would have gone along with that, if necessary.  Ranna glared at the floor but did not say anything.  If he tried to get her to actually do it, she might have snapped.  As it was she just followed Reiko off the train.  After the previous day, and what was coming, she not sparkly and smiles and much less inclined to tolerate the whole hand-holding while walking around today.  She just wanted to get this all over with, and hope, maybe the portion with Kara would be a more positive break, that they would avoid the friction in their meeting.  Just getting away from the rest of this nonsense temporarily helped her try to look forward to it and want to make it go well.

While on the train, Kappei had been a little worried that Reiko would decide to help the other guy out. She was way too self-sacrificing, in his opinion, and she might have even thought it would be a perfect chance to teach her sister. But his concerns had thankfully been for naught, and now the three of them found themselves walking down one of the main streets in the recreation zone. He hadn't insisted on holding Ranna's hand since he figured she was probably still upset about how things had played out the day before and in the following morning, but in the future she'd learn how to deal with stuff like that better.

"Should I drop you off at a cafe? You can contact your friend Kara and wait for her there." He suggested, not sure how Ranna wanted to handle things or if she had made any plans with the other girl. He did remember that Kara Spade had linked her own communicator with the younger girl's, so she probably meant for them to contact her or vice versa.

It was probably better than the alternative.  Getting a break from Kappei would be nice.  Ranna just had to hope it went well enough with Kara.  That neither of them did anything to irritate the other.  She nodded with a grunt.  Not feeling like saying anything and preparing herself for the shift from dealing with Kappei and Reiko, to dealing with Kara.

Ranna's bad mood was obvious, but he hoped she would be able to reign it in a bit once he left. The little girl acted as if she were the only unfortunate one, willfully glossing over and seemingly disregarding anything good coming her way. While she might have been plagued by a curse, she was hardly the only one who suffered from one or more magical ailments. Escorting the two sisters to the coffee shop only two days earlier. From what he understood, it was Reiko's favorite cafe.

"I'll leave her in your hands then, Reiko." Kappei said in a half-joking tone and waved the two of them goodbye as he left. He knew that the girl would likely be able to handle her sister much better than he ever could.

Ranna did not think she was the only one with problems of course.  But it also was not the curse that was bothering her, it was Kappei's solution to everything that was.  When she found herself left with Reiko, she found her chance to vent to the one who actually could understand her issue here.  "Don't you have to wander off to punish me in some mysterious way?  You should understand why I did that.  I still don't think he really gets what is going with me, or believes it.  Why should I not want to get an escape from the arranged marriage you two are putting me through?"  Reiko, listened, familiar complaints.  The issue of the marriage was the only somewhat new aspect here.  "I'll grant you did not understand how dangerous what you did was.  That is why this won't be as severe as it might have been.  But you are much too young to drink, or imitate drinking.  You have done it twice now, Ranna, I can't ignore that.  You will find out what I have in mind later.  Do try to get along with Kara.  She is not the friendliest girl, but I am hoping you can become closer.  That you might find other friends on the club as well."

"As for the marriage...he has a point.  It is that, or once your protection phase ends, I can introduce you to some boys.  I do think you grow to enjoy it, after you get over your unease.  It dose feel g..."  Ranna put her hand over Reiko's mouth.  "Stop.  Stop.  Stop.  I don't want to hear my sister talk about sex.  I don't want to have any idea of the things you have experienced in this place."  She was sure Reiko had had a lot of sex, with a lot of people.  Knowing that was bad enough.  She did not want to know the details.  She waited, until she was sure Reiko dropped the subject, before lowering the hand.

"It's up to you.  One or the other."  She said with a soft smile.  "Either way.  I will keep you company until Kara arrives.  Then let you two do your thing.  Call her whenever your ready."  Ranna sighed, decided to get it over with.  Raising the bracelet to her hand.  "Call, Kara."  That was enough, wasn't it?  She assumed the full nasme was not needed, uless maybe she found another Kara and needed to specify.

As long as you connected the magical algorithm of your own communicator with the other one, that was enough for it to work. As it were, Kara herself wouldn't call the runes and glyphs in the spell needed all that special. It was just a simple location formula slapped over movement algorithm. In fact, it was so simple that you could say that it was strange that it didn't work for other things. But teleportation didn't work that way, a fact that had been painfully hammered home to everyone who had tried researching it. Communication like this seemed to work, though, and while it wasn't something that interested Kara, she had still been the one that pushed for the idea and had been the main reason why the device was existing now. It was now a well-known fact that you couldn't teleport using this method. But why didn't it work? Having come to the conclusion that it didn't work, everyone else had simply given up and abandoned research on it. But Kara wasn't like that. When something didn't work like it should have, she couldn't help but ask herself why.

"..." Ranna's bracelet had given off a soft, faint glow and tingled for a bit, communicating to her that she had gotten through and that the person she had been trying to reach was on the other end. But instead of receiving a hello, the person Ranna had tried getting in contact with just remained silent. The next couple of seconds remained that way, and just before Ranna was about to break the odd silence, the other girl finally spoke.

"...clothes?" was all she said, her remark a weird mix between a statement and a question. Despite having been the one who had been pushing for the magical communicator to be researched and created, Kara had no love for the device. It was just another way for people to waste time, as far as she was concerned. It hadn't become that popular and was mostly used by the military, but Kara could easily imagine how something like the communicator could change society for the worse.

"You are at Café Nova. Wait there. I will be right over." Kara stated as she started heading out of the clothing store that she had been in. Annoyed with how she would be wasting time shopping for clothes, she had been doing some recon and browsed the shops in the Recreation Area. The coffee shop that Ranna was at was only a five-minute walk, so she would be there shortly. Of course, the reason she knew the location of the other girl was because she had modified her own magical communicator to allow her to see where anyone trying to reach her was.

“That’s how she is.”  Reiko casually commented, having listened to the short, one way, conversation.  It was not really a complaint, though she hoped Kara could become more social later.  But like she said, she would wait the probably short wait for Kara to get there.

Ranna found the device a little strange herself, questioned if she would ever be very used to it.  Of course Kara was not some one she was likely to have much conversation with, whether through that, or in person.  She tried to ease her concern over how awkward this was going to be.  Neither of them were likely to have a lot of fun clothes shopping, could they find something else that was at least a little more appealing for both of them.  But she did not really know what to say, figured she would quietly wait the probably short wait until Kara showed up.

Since it was a school for the elite, nobody working at the coffee shop bothered the two Rangorn sisters to buy anything, allowing the two girls to wait outside at one of the tables where actual customers could have actually been sitting. Just like Reiko had suspected, though, the wait for Kara did not take long. Trotting up the street with a surprisingly bright look on her face, the raven-haired girl made her way towards the outdoor service of the cafe. She might not have enjoyed the idea of acting as Ranna's chaperone for today, but her interest in studying the girl outweighed her lack of interest in the shopping itself. Stopping in front of them, she gave Reiko a questioning look. It was easy to surmise why she was here, but it still rankled Kara a bit. If the older sister could use some of her own time to safeguard her sister until Kara arrived, then she could have just gone shopping with her too. Mentioning this would just be a waste of time, though, so instead she turned her attention back to Ranna.

"I'm not going to shop for you." She told the young girl, calling attention to the fact that she was just sitting there and hadn't immediately jumped to her feet as soon as Kara had arrived. Was this going to be a thing? Was Kara going to have to pull her along like a doll all day? That possibility certainly didn't sit well with Kara. She had been forced to retrain all those other students working at the campus lab to make them into passable assistants, and looking back at it, she was now absolutely sure that it would have been more productive to just chase them out.

Reiko stood up with a friendly smile.  Saying something that was likely to irritate Kara, but was worth mentioning.  “Ranna should make a choice for herself, but take some time to look for something for yourself too, Kara.  Even if you already have something suitable, it would not hurt to look for something new.”  Did Kara already have something suitable?  She probably did, if only for social things she was dragged into.  But she did not come off as the sort of girl to try to buy things like that very often.  It probably would not hurt to get something new.

”But I have some things I have to go do now.  Both of you, try to have some fun here.  You don’t have to think of this sort of thing as an obligation.” Reiko left it at that, walking away with a wave.  She figured Kara did not really want to have a conversation with her, anyway.  It was not like she tried to force the girl to do anything more.  Just gave some friendly advice.

Ranna stood up.  She was not going to say anything she knew would irritate the girl.  She did not know if this could be fun, but she wanted to do what she could to try to make it more positive.  “Let’s just get this done.  The sooner it’s over the happier we will both be.”  Well, she was not looking forward to what came after, but she was not going to annoy the girl with talk about that.

Kara's face was a blank mask, with no emotion at all playing across her doll-like features as she listened to Reiko give her some advice. It wasn't the first time the older girls had done this and probably wouldn't be the last. But unlike Ranna, who couldn't help but react to what her sister was saying, Kara always just ignored it. The club was a necessary evil and something she had only joined because it would allow her to avoid other clubs and their activities.

"I have picked out a costume for you. We will go and have it fitted for you." Kara told Ranna, turning her attention to the younger girl as the older Rangorn sister left. She was correct. It was better to get this over with quickly. Since Ranna did not care about what she wore and just wanted to get the whole debacle over and done with, Kara had already decided beforehand what they would buy for her. If Ranna did not agree, then she could say so. But saying so would be the same as saying that she wanted to spend time shopping and picking out a costume herself.

She had already picked something?  Ranna was not yet sure whether to be relieved or nervous about that.  She had no idea what Kara would think was a good outfit.  How strange it might be for her.  She tried to be optimistic about it.  She was not sure if she would be completely happy with anything that would be suitable for an event like this.  But hopefully it was something as comfortable as she could be with an outfit for an event like this.

Not really knowing how to talk to this girl, she nodded and followed her.  She assumed she would be able to say something after seeing the outfit, if it was somehow problematic.  Hopefully that would not be necessary.

As much as she wanted to find a way to make this less awkward.  She was cautious, after the party.  For the moment she would let Kara decide what to talk about, if they talked.  Though she would not be surprised if they did not.
