Ranna was questioning Reiko’s judgment now.  She wanted her to be friends with someone like this?  Sure she appreciated someone actually thinking of her as a boy for once, but this attitude was going to be very hard to deal with.  She had genuinely made an effort to be friendly and explain her thought process, only to get a verbal punch to the gut.  Now she kind of wanted to get over with as fast as she could, to just grab something.  “Fine, we’ll get over with, whenever you’re ready.”  She answered without much enthusiasm.

To be fair, that was one reason Reiko had hoped someone else would have volunteered to go with.  Ranna should have had more time to get used to Kara’s personality.  Not intentionally mean, but incredibly blunt and seeming to have a hard time making personal connections of any sort.  Honestly, she thought both of them would do good for each other if they could get closer.  Though that probably would not be easy.

Kara gave a curt nod, not particularly interested in getting new friends or acting as Ranna's support. She had joined the club so that she didn't have to deal with other people and interact with them. Like the other girls in this club she had issues with the forced intimacy that was expected at the academy, but unlike the rest of them her reason was simply because it was a chore and a bother. That was the thing about Kara. She might have come off as asexual and unfriendly, but in reality she just found the whole thing time consuming and of little to no benefit at all. Exactly what would she get out of sex? Nothing as far as she could see. So she joined this club to have an excuse to keep to herself.

"Tomorrow then." Her eyes became thin as she squinted at Ranna. "You should come to the research faculty around this hour."

“Yeah, sure.”  Ranna said softly and dully.  Still irritated, she was self aware enough to realize she was feeling and acting like a moody teen girl, it bothered her, but not enough to shake it off.  Only somewhat bottle it up.  She would have ended it there, gone and bugged Reiko about leaving, since everything seemed to be done here.  Neither of them seemed that interested in talking to the other much more.  But then she realized the girl had said something rather confusing.  “…Wait…research?”  The girl should have known she was new here, did not know the entire campus yet.  It was not just about not being sure where to go though, that just sounded like a weird place to meet and she was not sure why it was suggested.

Kara tilted her head, and for a brief moment, something that could almost have been recognized as irritation flashed across her face. How irritating. In her haste to get things over with, she had completely forgotten about this girl's age. New students weren't allowed to go anywhere by themselves without their chaperones' permission. She herself had broken that rule on her first day on campus, but that wasn't to say it had been a simple matter. Had Ranna's chaperone come with her today? Or had her sister Reiko just skirted the rules and brought her along herself? It didn't matter. Kara just didn't want the extra trouble it would mean to babysit this child.

"No, ignore what I just said. I will come pick you up in a few days when your protection period is over." The research faculty at the school was probably the most important one, with several corporations, including her father's company, helping to fund it. And yet, it was a place that didn't have all that many members, and it wasn't all that liked by what could be considered the cream of the crop even at the academy. It was a place for research. Research into all the wonders of myth and magic.

"Yes, I will help you. That should be enough, right?" Really, having to spend time with other people when all she really wanted to do was spend her time delving into the mysteries of the unbound and the unknown. Magic was Kara's true calling, and even as she was attending this meeting, she was wearing several of the finest products produced by her family's company as well as some of her own making that were only in the trial stage. One of those gave her the ability to detect great swirls of magic energy, and that energy was swirling around Ranna like crazy.

That was two girls here who apparently had some interest in Ranna due to her curse, in one way or another.  She had calmed down a little, though she was unsure how close she would get to this girl.  She had no idea how successful Reiko’s idea of her making friends here would be, but unless Kara surprised her later, she did not seem to be one of the more likely ones.

”Alright, we will do that.”  The irritation had faded, but she was still not very enthusiastic about this.  How helpful Kara would be would be something she would find out.

She turned and walked back to Reiko, giving her sister a look.  Reiko simply smiled, put her hand on Ranna’s shoulder, and led her towards the door.  “Alright, girls!  That should end the introduction.  Look forward to the party, and later practicing with Ranna!”

She did not say anything to Ranna until they were closer to the door.  “You just have to get used to Kara and know her a little better.  Nothing she said was intended to upset you.  I admit, I would have preferred to have another of the girls with you two.  But there is nothing wrong about this.”  She hoped it would work out well and both would get closer to each other, but they would have to wait.  More importantly, they had kept Kappei waiting long enough, it was best to get back to him then make their way back to their respective rooms.

Pocketing what was left of the hard candies he had gotten from a nearby vending machine, Kappei looked up from the bench he was sitting on. They hadn't been gone that long, but it was really boring to wait when he had nothing to preoccupy himself with.

"Made any new friends?" he offered Ranna and her sister a smile, his intuition telling him that things had gone better than the younger Rangorn sister had anticipated. If this was the case, he was happy for her. She was a prickly and sassy little girl, but constantly having your guard up and fighting everyone wasn't healthy.

Ranna was reluctant to answer that question at this point.  Other than Kara, she had got a better first impression than she expected, but it was still at least a little too soon to call any of them friends.  She had to see how well she would continue to interact with them, and to what extent she saw any of them outside of the club.  There were potential friends, she supposed, but she had to spend more time with them.  She shrugged noncommittally.  “…It’s an…interesting group.”  She was both surprised and not that Reiko somehow managed to gather such a group of girls.  Even with Kara, there had been some irritation but she was more willing to wait and see what happened on their trip alone and see if that made her more optimistic.  Though now, she wanted more to rest after being the focus of such an event.

Kappei rose from the sofa he had been reclining in and smoothed any creases he had in his pants as he stood up. Interesting group was it? He wasn't exactly sure what Ranna meant by that, but considering the nature of the school she would probably have a harder time finding people that were more normal. This was a school for the elite after all. "Interesting huh?"

He glanced at Reiko then returned his gaze to Ranna. Since they were girls that Reiko had gathered, they probably were all girls that she felt she had to protect. "Do you want me to bring you back to your dorm, or are you okay with you sister escorting you?"

Posted (edited)

Right now Ranna was too tired to care.  As long as Kappei did not say anything about their supposed relationship or do anything to act like she was his 'girlfriend', she did not care whether he was there or not.  "They are all quite unique.  They like Ranna too, hopefully she will have some friends as they get to know each other."  Reiko noted with a smile, giving her own impression of the girls, while Ranna shrugged.  "Do whichever you want."  She was more curious about what Kara planned.  Was she getting too optimistic?  That maybe the girl could do something about her curse?  That was what she hoped for at least.  Though more realistically it would just a bunch of tests that would not accomplish much, except maybe indulge the girl's curiosity.

Kappei nodded. If she didn't think it was an issue with who escorted her home, he wouldn't make it one either. With things set in motion now, there were a lot of things he would have to prepare. They would have to get marriage rings, and he would have to file for an apartment in the housing district, but there was also the issue of starting up a training regime for her. While helping her raise her fighting ability would only protect her to a degree, anything that could make her more safe was for the better.

"I'll help you to your dorm then." He told Ranna. He was sure that her older sister had a lot of things she needed to get ready, so she probably didn't mind him volunteering himself for the job.

“I’ll see you two later then.”  Reiko left with a smile and a wave.  She really thought there was potential here.  That Ranna could find multiple friends in the club, ideally make friends with all of them.  It might take a little time though, just like Ranna and Kappei’s relationship.  Nothing was likely to happen there on their walk back to the dorm.  But with time Ranna ought to warm up to him.

Ranna watched her walk off.  Leaving the two of them alone.  Hopefully it would just be a quiet trip back the dorm.  She began walking back, the sooner she got there the better.  It had been a long day and there was a lot to digest.  She preferred to think about the club, over the sorts of things Kappei might talk about.  Trying to keep track of all those girls.  What Kara said was still on her mind.  She did wonder too about the others, if Reiko actually was right about her finding friends there.

Kappei followed suit, remaining quiet and allowing Ranna to lead the way. He was still technically shaperoning her as long as he stayed close to her.

The trolley wasn't packed this time either, but the scene Ranna was treated to was still something she hadn't seen yet. Aside from Kappei, there was only one other boy on the train. Surrounded by seven girls, he was masturbating in front of them. He wasn't in charge though, instead it was pretty clear that he was submissive to them and was being forced to perform like this.

Ranna tried not to stare too much at these sorts of things.  Though they were hard to completely ignore.  Last thing she needed was to be invited over.  In a place like this she could see one or more the girls there thinking she should come over, just to add to the atmosphere.  Though it was almost more awkward to be with the only other boy present while in this body.  She just tried to stay quiet, unnoticed, hoping no one thought she should either join that group or do something with Kappei.  There was a little curiosity though, if only because it was different than what she had seen before.  To observe the girls, listen to them, without looking at them with more than the corner of her eye.

While less common, women dominating men sexually wasn't exactly out of the ordinary at the academy. It was just a question of power, be it status or otherwise. If you were at the bottom of the totem pole, you were at the mercy at those that were at the top.

The girls toying with the young man, weren't interested in Kappei or Ranna and they weren't going to invite them either. As it were, Ranna and Kappei might not have been at top echelon of the academy, but they weren't part of the bottom wrung either. Ranna especially, even though her family was poor, had the potential to reach very high if she applied herself.

The train ride went on rather uneventful and after a few halts at other stations, the trolley arrived at the female dorm. Waiting for Ranna to climb off first, Kappei followed suit and started escorting her towards the rather Victorian looking building.

"There's a ton that we need to take care of and prepare before your protected period ends." Kappei told her in a hushed voice as the made it into the building and walked through the hallway. Kappei didn't know on which floor Ranna had her room, so he was just walking next to her as she was leading the way. "I'll pick you up tomorrow after your last class and we'll go choose rings."

It was Saturday and it would be Ranna's final classes before her protected period came to an end. She would still have homeroom with everyone she had already attended class with, but come the start of the following week she was going to take other classes as well. During the protection period, new students took multiple tests and were evaluated by their homeroom teacher. When the two weeks were over, they were recommended classes, but could also pick and choose what they wanted to study. This part was important. Getting into the right classes and making the right connections paved their future. In the case of somebody like Ranna that didn't come from a rich or affluent family, attending the academy on a scholarship, picking the right class was even more important. She had a genuine chance here.

Rings?  There went Ranna’s hope to avoid that subject.  It could not have left alone for the rest of the day.  “I don’t need more jewelry.”  She softly mumbled.  Refusing to acknowledge any deeper meaning to said rings.  She did not exactly want to draw attention to herself here, with this escort.  Reiko may have been the better option after all.

She walked quickly, trying to get this over with.  Finally get some time to herself to rest.  She made her way up to the second floor.  Her room was not far now.  At least she would get a little of that peace soon.  She had a very hectic and overwhelming few days, and just some quiet by herself.

Kappei ignored Ranna's denial, escorting her the rest of way in silence. While marriage was an extremely rare thing at the academy, priding itself as a place that would cater to whims and wishes of the elite, wedding rings were nevertheless sold in the recreation zone. Engagement rings however were loaned out by the school when you registered your engagement.

"I suppose you've already decided on what classes you're gonna be taking..." Kappei said in a soft voice as he waited for Ranna to open her door. "But, well... I know it isn't exactly any of my business,  but your sister always bragged about how smart her little sister was. So, make sure you choose something actually worth studying."

It really wasn't any of his business, but if Ranna was even half as clever as Reiko made her out to be, then it really would be a shame if she didn't apply herself properly. If she could get into the more advanced classes, not only would it be great for her future, it would raise her prestige too.

Studying was important, but so was rest.  Ranna thought that would be the better thing right now.  She had done plenty of studying, and would do more, but but she suspect she would only do a little, if any of that tonight.  She did not think it was worth mentioning that though.

Of course Reiko went around praising her, and of course in the context of a ‘little sister’.  She could imagine the sorts of things said.  She had heard it before, things Reiko told others.  “…Yeah, sure, will help rule the world, that’s what we’re here for, that’s what we’re studying for.”  She sarcastically repeated the sort of things all the students heard, that she would supposedly be among the ruling class or whatever, by connections if nothing else.  Just graduating from this place was a huge step in any job or position you wanted, though Ranna did not want to rely on that, intended to figure out something more specialized and earn wherever she ended up.

She unlocked and opened her door, stepping inside.  Hoping he did not expect anything that came with the being the couple he wanted them to be.  Though she was confident he would not do or expect what just about any other boy here would do in his place.  She watched through an almost closed door, seeing what he would do before leaving.

It seemed to Kappei that Ranna had only been half listening to what he was saying. Tomorrow she would have to choose what subjects she intended to study at the academy. While being chosen to be part of the ruling class, was indeed something that was hammered into the students, what classes you took and how well you performed really was important. Ranna wasn't rich, but she did have beauty and intelligence. This wasn't something the academy had given to her. The academy was just a place where she could make the best out of what she already had.

Turning around, Kappei left, heading down the corridor, thinking about everything he had to prepare the next day. Once they got engaged, they would have to move to the Housing Zone so he would need to order new furniture and ask Reiko about if her sister had any likes or dislikes when it came to such things.

OOC: Kappei is leaving. If you want to you can have Ranna call out to him, talk with her roomate or simply skip to the next day when she is in class.

Ranna was not listening that much.  She was finally happy to get some quiet time.  A break from Kappei and Reiko, a break from this marriage nonsense she never agreed to.  There were also questions of Kara and the club, something she was not really opposed to anymore, but would take time to get used to.

She could finally relax.  And after a little while got some good sleep.  She felt a little better in the morning, but knew it would only be a matter of time before she was annoyed by those things again.  It was a weird thought for someone her age, but as she stepped into the classroom and made her way to her seat, she kind of wished class would never end.

Her final day of class before the protection period would be over had started out similarly to the day before. The girls in her class had been milling around her and acting more like groupies than just normal classmates. It probably wasn't what she had expected, but it was actually a pretty good scenario for her.

Class that day had been more of a recap of everything the new students had tried out so far. They would get courses recommended to them, but anyone could try and apply to any course they wished. While a student could change classes during the semester, it was today that they would start taking their first step towards creating their ideal future.

As the final class was wrapping up, their homeroom teacher activated the big round crystal that was placed on his desk. When you chose what classes you wanted to take, you would register them at one of these big round crystals that your homeroom teacher kept.

Ranna did not know if she would see any of these girls again.  Maybe she would, maybe not.  It was unfortunate she had just started to interact with them much.  She would have to see who was in her new classes.  Would it include some of them?  Maybe some of the girls from the gymnastics club?  Or would all be new people?  In one way she was happy to be free of this period, though she knew there would be much more pressure for sex after this, at least from people who did not know about the curse.

This was on her mind as she waited for her turn with the ball.  Eventually it came.  She placed her hand on it.  She intended to take it seriously.  She knew how she got here.  She was not from any family of significance, nor the violent troublemakers.  Her grades, her mind, that got her here.  But it was hard to decide what to do next.  She simply looked for high end classes, a variety of them in different areas.  Classes that would useful later, no matter what path she chose.  As she got older she would have to focus on something, but for now she could focus on the basics.  She picked the highest tier of each she could.  It meant more work, but she was confident she could handle it.

The orb glowed and Ranna was enveloped in warm pink glow, different from the white that of most of the students. It was not something out of the ordinary, but it was quite rare for this to happen. The reasons for the different colors was based on potential, and only people that the magic recognized as exceptional would have this happen.

Ranna had of course many recommendations,, but despite her remarkable beauty, all of them had been as a result of her academic achievements as well as how well she had performed in classes during the protection period. She really was an intelligent girl, only really hampered by her own lack of of direction.

Once the glow subsided, another girl walked up behind Ranna and took her place, eager to make her own choices. Before the class, their teacher had already explained everything they needed to know about how to use the orb, so when they had seen petite beauty get surrounded by the bright pink color, they had made exciting awed sounds. The young Rangorn girl really had become their class idol now.

The class continued with the rest of the class using the orb, but nobody else had the magic tool give off any special color. They might have wished to be special too, but they weren't actually upset either. The way things had played out over the protection period, had firmly cemented Ranna as somebody special in their minds, and they felt special already simply sharing homeroom with her. After all, even though they would all take different classes, they still shared homeroom with each other and would all meet up once a week in order to build and further relations between each other.

Why was it pink?  That was Ranna's initial reaction when she touched the orb.  Sure, it was nice it was a different color, but that just made it feel like it was in on Reiko's conspiracy to try to convince her she was a girl.  She did her best to ignore it though as she picked her classes.  She was not sure how she felt about being the only one to get a special color.  The impact it would have on the rest of the day.  Though it reduce the chances she would many of these classmates again.  Though there was the advantage of the closed campus that some of them could try to find her in the dorms, if they really wanted to.  It was possible to keep contact with anyone here, if there was enough interest.  For now though, she just waited to see what might happen over the rest of the day in class.  Being the class idol was more appealing than dealing with Kappei's marriage obsession.  She was still looking forward, with mixed feelings, to her eventual meeting Kara too, and figuring out what that girl was planning exactly.

The last student in class having finished registering their choices with the orb, their disheveled looking teacher draped a silk blanket over the tool and told everyone that classes were over for the day and that they should all go back to their dorms and come back on Monday. With the final class over, the student started leaving their seats, most of them making their way over towards Ranna's seat before she had a chance to leave. They all congratulated her and gushed over her success, wishing her well and saying that they would be cheering for her. Everything considered, it really was a pretty nice class.

Kappei was leaning against the wall outside of the classroom, looking a bit tired and worn out as he waited for Ranna to come out. He had already started looking into getting a place in the housing-zone, and while there certainly was plenty of available apartments to choose from, getting his hands on one had proved more annoying that he had first anticipated. Once they registered as being betrothed, they would immediately be offered to register for a place in the housing-zone. It wasn't mandatory to live there as a betrothed couple, but it was so for married couples. All of this was pretty straightforward of course, but the problem was the sheer amount of available apartments. What he wanted was for a big place, with a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. But as he had started looking at all the choices he had, he had realized just how naive he had been. Why choose just an acceptable place, when he could get a great place? And so, he had spent all of yesterday looking up all the apartments he could choose from, weighing all the pros and cons before he had finally been able to settle for a penthouse apartment that was looking out across the forest.

Ranna delt the crowd as much as she could, it was still something she was not that good at, not having been the focus of this sort of attention until very recently.  When it was all past, she stepped out to a sight she was not looking forward to.  She did not hate Kappei as a person or anything like that, but she was not looking forward to this.  She really did not want to deal with this stuff, was not convinced it was the best option.  If she had to marry someone, she would much prefer looking for a girl.  She just looked at him from the doorway, trying to think of a way to talk herself out of this.
