Scylla definitely has a jealous streak. I think it's probably a control issue. She's a smaller frame, she can't out-muscle her problems, so she likes to feel in control of her circumstances—controlling where she perches and rests, running frequent scans to keep tabs on everything around her, and seeing Emily piloting another frame definitely sparks jealousy fed by that inability to 'control' Emily (as someone she relies on physically and emotionally).

The mechanics are pretty secondary - it's all hooked to story.

Can you share two short phrases or sentences that tell us something about your mech mechanic?

If you want, she can be a pilot instead. That might be more "action oriented" but there's all kind of stories available. Healing isn't a thing in Fate, but I think we could use a doctor too, if you prefer. Mechanic, carrier pilot, Hive citizen being liberated, all kinds of things on the table.

For your mechanic it could be something like Kaiju are people too since the BioFrames are part kaiju. It says that she values and understands the organic component and might be more inclined to defend or protect a monster than other people, maybe in a way that complicates things. But because she understands them, she con relate to the better, allowing her to liberate them more easily too.

I was never super into the mech sex angle frankly, hence why I was trying to pivot around it a little with the symbiotic angle... so the doctor angle could work, a citizen who ended up randomly gaining significance because of a McGuffin despite not being a pilot, or hell an RC specialist using low grade remote tools all could work

...Im normally not a sci fi gal so i have waaaaay fewer ideas for the setting sadly XD

Funny thing about my character, she is in almost constant need of some kind of doctoring If we give a little bit of a 'combat medic' slant to your character then we can keep the group closer together in action sequences too.

... honestly speaking I just had the really silly idea of having a medic with a big ass syringe looking weapon that shoots out a paralytic goo that can interfere with the biometrics of the cyborg like mechs, since they are part organic... also well it doesn't really fit with a full sized mech, but maybe a smol motorcycle like mech she could use to zoom around the fight could work nicely? kinda like the minibots transformers had for a while

Ooo, we could get you on an airbike or in, like, a little exo-suit like Iron Man (maybe not as wild as his, but something tough or nimble enough to get around without being squished by kaiju or BioFrames).

I still like the idea of it being kinda bike like, so maybe something like the pokemon violet boxart pokemon where it was a kinda cross between an actual bike and a lizard, so maybe a kinda mecha rabbit who can hover, with the ears turning into a windshield when im zoomin owo?

FATE doesn't really do healing in the traditional fantasy RPG vein. But, we can work it in as she creates buffs as she zooms around the battlefield and speeds healing outside combat.

Does this motorcycle-bunny maybe turn into a kind of engineer battlesuit once she reaches the battlefield?

I am back again with my irregular, "Please join this game" post.

This kind of started off as a kind of "yeah, there's not enough porn in my other idea" joke, but actually what's emerged is a pretty cool story of freedom fighters, giant monster-mecha hybrids and an oppressive regime that uses emotion blockers to control the population.

We've had some interest in some engineers because the weird sexual connection to the mechs seems to be a bridge too far for many people - but hey, you don't have to write your interface that way (I think @WickedCadrach would tell you that is is a lot of fun though).

The story is getting ready to turn into the rebels trying to liberate a regime outpost that was supposed to be sacrificed to kaiju for propaganda purposes. The captain doesn't like that because it's shitty, but one of the pilots really hates it because she was liberated from the Hive regime when her parents were killed in a similar stunt.

We're using FATE to run this, but don't worry about the mechanics, they're utterly secondary to the narrative.

I would and I will. If you have any kind of inkling for machines, tentacles, monsters... just saying that the cockpit of a cyborg-kaiju is a blank check to get a little spicy, get a little weird. But we do also love the drama and tenderness between our human freedom fighters too ❤

honestly forgot about this for abit, but meant to join in, I had an idea based on the previous discussion for a motorcycle-esk bioframe used by a nurse and ended up with the idea of leaning into the cheesy nature of this hard, making a medic knight riding a bioframe horse, wearing metal armor that looks like a cross between heavy armor and high collared nurse scrubs, well using a lance and shield where the lance is closer to a giant syringe and the shield doubles as a medical computer...

I have... no context about what is going on right now so I really dont know what I want to do as far as backstory goes... but here we are!

So the quick and dirty rundown is were are the Liberation Union (LU) team stationed in the mountains. We have a flying carrier that can pack up our base and the few BioFrames we have and move it around. We're there because the Hive has established a new coastal outpost. After spying it out, we discovered the place was set up as a propaganda piece. The Hive are going to destroy their own people and blame the LU and wild Kaiju monsters because (presumably) it will keep their other citizens afraid, compliant, and in line. 

We stopped the outpost from being destroyed once already. Now our next plan is to sneak in, start lowering the emotion-blocker (e-blocker) drugs in the outpost's food supply, then come in afterwards and take control. We plan to hold the outpost, repel kaiju and Hive soldiers, and hold it for three months while the civilians detox from e-blockers and hopefully join the LU side against the Hive. 

More specifically, everyone is back at base after saving the outpost from the initial attack and the commanding officer, Captain Magda Payarkoon, and my pilot, Emily "Patches" Kehrer are blowing off steam in Magda's office.

For backstory, I might recommend deciding the broad strokes like: Were you born and raised in the LU (like Magda) or were you raised in the Hive and joined after being rescued (like Emily)? Is this LU strike team your first group or were you transferred from another platoon? Your medic probably sees Emily all the time because Emily has taken so much trauma that her body is largely cybernetic and she constantly needs adjustments for chronic pain, infection, cyber-graft rejection, and other medical problems that have cut her life-expectancy in half—what do you think their relationship is like?

im liking the idea that my character was actually a mid level officer for the other side at one point who never particularly liked the hive model. who jumped ship and switched sides, possibly taking some key blueprints with her detailing some of the Eblocker tech... because she helped make the inital prototypes for the Eblockers. shes someone respected due to her notable help in pushing back the hive in her information, but who is also not fully trusted since... at one point, she was fully on the other side.

similarly im taking inspiration from a league of legends character, rell, who has a mount that transitions between a robotic horse thing into a suit of heavy armor. and im thinking a similar approach might be great for my medic, well making the armor form be a bit more "hands on" like a typical bioframe, well being smaller, and not a literal "cock pit"

as for their relationship, im thinking my medic who may be a little bit of a stern hard ass at times, takes a bit of pity on emily and has a lot of sympathy despite her normally gruff and too the point approach normally... im thinking it might be interesting if my medic actively supplies her with... for lack of a better term, medical sex toys. lubes that enhance the sensations between you and your bioframe, balms that make the normal aches toe the line between pleasure and pain you sometimes feel during sex, and a few extra bits and bobs that further bypass "safe word" protocols leading to a more intense bond with your frame, albeit one you have a little less control over. I think my medic might fill the feeling of a stern aunt who secretly is the fun aunt.

I think the idea of a 'tiny' BioFrame that can swap between being a mount and a 'living suit' sort of armor is a cool idea. Also, having someone who was fully in the Hive military escaping and crossing to the LU side is pretty cool. We kind of have the Hive as this empire that's been in power a very long time now, but I could definitely see your medic on a team developing the 'next gen' of e-blocker drugs and cyber. Perhaps they had special privilege due to their position and so they were on a lower dose or not on e-blockers at all to do their work, making them more susceptible to empathizing with the LU and planning their escape? Or maybe the LU sent agents to infiltrate and one of them ID'd you as a likely candidate to pull to the LU side?

Also, on the potential relationship to Emily... Yes, please. I... um... would in fact like to try the experimental sex toys and drugs. I mean, they sound pretty wild, maybe I should be in restraints, tied down while we try out a few... doctor~ (Sorry, but that idea sent me places, )

I have been working on an anti Eblocker by the way! the idea is it amplifies emotions and sensations to counteract them... now... in all seriousness though, I do like the idea of her working on the next gen of Eblockers, and well trying to balance out the hormones she ended up negating her own Eblockers. realizing what she was a part of she played it cool and bided her time well looking for a chance to escape. and that came during a raid the LU did on the hive

my main hang up is the specifics on her frame... currently im liking the idea of a bumble bee or wasp theme, mostly because of the syringe weapon i mentioned before

A hornet-looking, living motorcycle that can readjust itself into a suit sounds pretty awesome. I see what you're thinking with the stinger and using that to affect the much larger BioFrames that typically make up the fights.

I like the idea of a Boost Bee supporting the larger frames.

Does her hypo deliver a dose of one of three Boosts or Debuffs? Say Jacked! that gives the Boosted frame some extra strength (think kaiju adrenaline) that lets them do extra damage in physical combat at the cost of some minor exhaustion later? Dopamine Hit that can push pilot/Frame pairs towards Synch (and, since the Hive pilots don't use it, can act as a way to disrupt the Hive pilot/frame interface?). And some thing else?
