Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted May 13, 2016 Auxiliary Staff Posted May 13, 2016 Welcome to Palm Beach (Artist Unknown) Palm Beach is a beautiful beach along the shore of the Utopian Curse island. It is a perfect place for roleplayers to come and discuss their characters and plots. If you are new to the island of Utopian Curse, then this is the best place to come and introduce your characters, and request for plots or roleplaying partners. Please note that things discussed in this thread may not be known to a character, so you cannot have one of your characters somehow knowing something that was discussed in this thread, unless they were exposed to it within the roleplay. Please enjoy your stay on the beautiful Palm Beach. Relevant links: Utopian Curse Roleplay Extra Information Character ID
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted March 26, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted March 26, 2019 @Chiyako would you like me to fix the formatting on your Character ID?
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted March 26, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted March 26, 2019 Done. Although that was a little bit of a pain to edit a comment of an image xD
Kalvoras Vertal Banned Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) "I might post in a while. A bit busy with things right now TuT Plus, I'll have to make a profile for Rosal" Edited March 27, 2019 by Kalvoras Vertal "with" was supposed to be "for"
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted March 28, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted March 28, 2019 I've put up pictures of my other characters, but they're very much WIP at this moment in time. 1
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted March 30, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted March 30, 2019 Well. That's Talrin's done. Took me two days, and that's with most of it already been done. It's a long-ass read, though. Now to start working on the others.
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted April 1, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted April 1, 2019 I've put some information regarding the sea monster in the main RP information. This is especially helpful for @Aura, if Aurora encountered it. 1
Mr.X Posted December 25, 2019 Posted December 25, 2019 Uhhhh..... I want to roleplay in here and it is a side story(A Non-Ecchi One and a SoL of my character's way to relax in the island(He doesn't want and will not want to escape due to his ignorance and another level of apathy)). But, english is not my first language and I couldn't do as much as so many members here. So How much paragraph minimum to RP in here and how much sentence for a paragraph that should I do in here?
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted December 26, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted December 26, 2019 A single paragraph with about 5-6 sentences is good enough for a minimum post for the RP.
Senior Staff Manni Posted December 29, 2019 Senior Staff Posted December 29, 2019 @Neptune Hmm...would it be possible to ask for some varieties of the following to be available on the island? - Rice (Would help Cassie a lot to have access to this) - Wheat -Lemongrass - Kaffir Lime Leaves - Galangal - Ginger - Garlic - Various species of chillies - Salt (A must for preserving) - Sugarcane And I'll think of some more later.
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted December 29, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted December 29, 2019 This is exactly why I created the Native Species Guide. As species will come from just about anywhere (due to the islands habit of randomly picking people, objects, animals and plants from various places) I put up a thread where people can note these things down. We've already put some down, like coconuts.
Senior Staff Manni Posted December 29, 2019 Senior Staff Posted December 29, 2019 Right, I will start putting down ideas.
Mr.X Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 (edited) @Manni Well, actually, you can get salt by boiling sea water, by doing that you could get both Salt and Drinkable Water in the same time, if you live in a beach, and there is also a salt that is in a form of a huge rock of salt if you could find one... There is a thing or two that you need to do if you want to get both, normally, by boiling sea water you only get salt... You can search the info in google if you don't believe me Edited December 29, 2019 by Mr.X
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted December 29, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted December 29, 2019 That is definitely a viable solution. And I think Sea Salt is a better alternative to actual rock salt.
Senior Staff Manni Posted December 29, 2019 Senior Staff Posted December 29, 2019 I was under the impression that desalination was an energy intensive process hence why one does not see it done on a truly massive scale.
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted December 29, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted December 29, 2019 It can be done on a small scale. Set up a bowl of salt water, with a means to capture the evaporating water (Like a tilted leaf that causes the condensed water to run off into a separate dish). The sea salt is left behind. Actually, in modern times, I think sea salt is gotten by companies having huge pools of water. They don't need the water, so they just let the water evaporate into the atmosphere until just the salt remains. Pretty low powered, actually.
Senior Staff Manni Posted December 30, 2019 Senior Staff Posted December 30, 2019 Oops, I think we may be talking past each other. I was actually thinking we were talking about getting drinking water out of sea water and not just getting sea salt. Could just be my mistake though, lol.
Mr.X Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 (edited) I mean for a whole bottle of 1,5 l of sea water you can get a plate of sea salt and a cup of fresh water, IMO Edited December 30, 2019 by Mr.X
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted December 30, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted December 30, 2019 You can get drinking water from sea water using the method I described, Manni. But it's not much, and it takes a long time. There are better, more efficient methods of doing it. You really are better off finding a source of fresh water, such as a river. Or, even better, finding a way to harvest rainwater. On a tropical island, rain is actually fairly common. Getting your drinking water from sea water is unfeasible in a survival situation. Lexi has been forced to look at alternatives, since she was only able to get a mouthful of water from a bottles worth of sea water. For long term survival, it's not viable.
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted December 30, 2019 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted December 30, 2019 Granted! Someone could no doubt purify sea water using an ability, or magic of some description.
Mr.X Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 ^Well, he could do a the water purification to at most, a large stone Cauldron of sea water, but again, he wants to hide his powers and he would rather to be seen as a normal human. So, he would rather pick his own ways that use less of his mana
Mr.X Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 It would be an OoC of him if he just happen to purify the water using his magic in front of the other characters.
Auxiliary Staff Neptune Posted January 4, 2020 Author Auxiliary Staff Posted January 4, 2020 I've added some animals to the Native Species thread, with only one being an earth-species. There are four herbivores (including an egg layer), and one predator.
